About this listing
Space for two--plus a third on the futon--in tidy owner-occupied home. 2.5 miles to downtown TC and just a few hundred yards to beach on East Grand Traverse Bay. Few frills but rates are the best in town (and my cats get great reviews)!
Guest bedroom has a trundle bed. Opens into two twin-sized mattresses. Push them together and it's a bit bigger than a Full-sized bed.
Great location for a visit to the National Cherry Festival, the Traverse City Film Festival, a ski trip, motorcycle tour or weekend stay. Walking distance to Keith J. Charters State Park beach. TART trail is less than 1/4 mile away and provides miles of biking/walking/jogging and an easy trip to Traverse City, Acme and beyond.
Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas (and their respective wineries) are nearby; Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Crystal Mountain resort are about 45 minutes away.
While I can accommodate a third or fourth person they will have to sleep on my futon, which is not in a private room and not as comfortable as the beds. Also requires signing of Release Form to protect against back/neck ache or serving as feline sleeping platform (there's really no form to sign, but you have been warned).
I've had inquiries from people with one or two children but I don't think my place is suited for them--limited space to put 'em and sleep 'em.
There is plenty of parking in the driveway; no worries there. Late arrivals are OK; I'm used to guests arriving after a long drive.
Guest bedroom is private but we have to share the rest of the house. Guest room features a pull-out trundle bed (two single beds; when pushed together they are a bit bigger than a double bed). I will provide clean linens and a cat (or two) to pet! The futon will sleep a third person comfortably (two, comfortably-ish) and is discounted since it's not located privately.
Quiet backyard with patio, grill, lawn chairs and a fire bowl.
If you arrive on two wheels you get free parking in the "Garage Mahal" and use of any tools you need during your stay. If needed, I have several great roads and routes for you to investigate--trips from an hour to all day.
Interaction with Guests
You will be free to come and go as you please during your stay. I won't provide the entertainment but will be happy to tell you where to go for eats, drinks and good times. Depending on the week I may have a few goodies to snack on in the cupboards or refrigerator but you should plan to be on your own for food. Light breakfast items usually available and coffee maker is ready to go.
I'll likely be out enjoying the area during your stay so we may not see much of each other. However, I do like to be home when you arrive so you get the tour and I can answer questions. If I won't be there when you arrive I will make a plan to ensure you get a key.
Residential neighborhood is nice for walking, grocery store is one mile away. There's even a playground and dirt alleys to explore. Attractions and restaurants aplenty just to the east along US-31.
If you want to leave the driving to someone else the Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA [(website hidden)]) offers many routes connecting Traverse City, Suttons Bay, Glen Arbor, Interlochen, Kingsley and Williamsburg.
Other Things to Note
I don't have cable TV or Internet access (I'm not a caveman; I work with computers all day long and don't need to come home and spend MORE time on a computer).
Not really suitable for guests with children or pets...limited space to put them and sleep them. However, I've had a few successful exceptions so contact me first.
If you make it dirty, clean it up. If it breaks, tell me.
I try to generate as little trash as I can so expect to add to the recycling bins or compost pile if that's the case.
Smoking outdoors is fine but butts go in the trash. Leave them in my yard and your stay will end prematurely.
Don't be mean to my cat. If you are, she will steal your breath while you sleep.
Want to bring your pet? We will have to discuss first. I've had a few guests bring their dogs that got along fine with my cats but if yours thinks cats are chew toys then let's stop right there.
