Spacious airy bedroom with south facing balcony and spectacular views of the Mont Blanc range in beautiful family chalet. Large ensuite WC and walk-in shower. Tea and coffee making facilities in room, but no other kitchen facilities. Breakfast is optional and I can provide a healthy alpine breakfast, if required, as a supplement.
The chalet sits in a field - sometimes a snowy sledging slope, sometimes a flowery meadow, sometimes a hayfield - the wild deer love it. We built the chalet with big timbers, big windows; full of light and space. Calm and peaceful, it is set on the south facing hillside overlooking Chamonix town, with its innumerable shops, restaurants, bars, museums, galleries and the cinema - just 5 minutes walk down to the centre (perhaps 8 minutes back up the hill...). Right near the Brevent lift station, for fabulous alpine walking or brilliant sunny skiing.
Directly facing us on the other side of the valley the cable car soars to the summit of the Aiguille du Midi and the infamous arete leading to the Vallée Blanche, or with the telescope you can watch climbers or ski-mountaineers on Mont Blanc itself.
In the evenings the light on the mountains is extraordinary: Mont Blanc turns gently red, the Dru bursts into flames

Jan was an outstanding host. I stayed for three nights in the chalet and she was incredibly helpful.
I was running around to Italy and had to sort out busses and transportation and she helped with everything.
The room and the house are very cool, clean and private. It is more sectioned off like its own apartment and was quite close to town (brief walk down hill).
I will be back!
This is just a dream place. My wife and myself really enjoyed it. Very romantic! Plus, the place is very close to the lift for the ski slopes, if you know what I mean... ;-)
Jan was not there and we did not meet - but her friend Susanne was very helpful and kind over the phone. I'm actually thinking about booking straight away another weekend for next year! many thanks!
We had a lovely stay in Chamonix in the room with The View (an apt description!). Jan was very helpful in all communication prior to our visit, and also helping out with queries (despite being in New Zealand at the time) while we were there, including the whereabouts of an iron next door, which I'm sure was instrumental in me getting a job offer at an interview I had during our stay! :) The house is in a great location - just a few minutes walk to the Brevent gondola, and just five minutes down the hill into the town centre (more like ten on the way back up, but vg for burning off the evening's raclette!). The room was attractive, clean and cosy with a nice en suite bathroom, mini-fridge and plenty of storage. All in all, a great place to stay whilst in Chamonix.
The room is really nice, comfortable and clean, has a great view and is conveniently located close to Chamonix centre. The room has one big disadvantage as it is very noisy if other guests stay in the main part of the chalet (to illustrate: you can hear every word of conversations loud and clear). This had a very negative impact on our stay and we have unfortunately not been able to solve this with Jan before the review period expired.
Belle chambre, agréable, belle vue, salle de bain spacieuse. Située près du centre ville.
Contact sympathique avec l'hôte.
Jan is the BEST!
The house is lovely and we arrived in Chamonix late on a Friday evening and she was there waiting for us. She gave us plenty of tips for resturants, bars, ski rental and lift passes.
One of the best ski lifts is just a 5 minute walk down the street.
The bathroom is large and it has a rain shower perfect for warming up after skiing all day.
Jan is friendly, helpful and fun to talk to.
Generally, we choose Bed & Breakfasts over hotels because we like the personal touch, the interaction with the locals, and the insider tips which the host(s) can give us. What a luck that we chose Jan's B&B! All our expectations were fulfilled, and we enjoyed three nights in the cosiest, most comfortable and spacious room, with a private bathroom which has a huge shower cabin with a ´rainshower´. The beds are excellent, the room has a seating area, a dining table and a fridge; and Jan has put plates and cutlery etc. at the guests' disposal so that one does not have to find restaurants for all meals.
Jan is an open-minded and interesting person; considerate, helpful and kind. We are so glad we chose 'Room With THE View'.
And what a view! In the summer it must be absolutely fantastic to sit in the cute sofa on the balcony and watch the colours change at dawn and dusk!
We'll be back to try the 'Step in the void'/ 'Pas dans la vide' when it re-opens.
I came to Chamonix many many years ago and never really left. We moved here permanently 24 years ago and built this chalet in 2000. My children grew up here as free spirits and have now flown the nest, hence spare bedrooms in this beautiful home that I rent out from time to time. I love the mountains on foot, on skis or on my bike. I love trips away (in the past year Ladakh, Crete, Scotland, Corsica and Canada), but love coming home to Chamonix. So, it would be a great pleasure to share it with you...
