This is a beautifully renovated colonial house that captured the romance of this sultry seaside city. Three standard room and one Suite, each has it's own private bath, with AC, TV and eclectic furnishing. Ask for the Suite if interested.
This is a very nice house in the Old city, beautifully furnished, with nice sitting rooms and great decks overlooking the city. the house is very quiet and tranquil.
My room ( I moved to the yellow room) was great - firm comfortable mattress, excellent large walk in shower with a large shower head and excellent water pressure.
Breakfast is good - fruit, juice, as much good coffee as you want, eggs and bread.
All in all a great stay
Excellent place, absolutely beautiful, good located and clean. Perfect service very helpful, delicious breakfast and enough space in the rooms. The perfect place for a perfect holidays. Thank you very much and definitely i will spend my vacations there. Absolutely recommended.
Un hotel muy bonito, muy limpio y cómodo. Excelente localizado, el servicio y la atención perfectos. Se lo recomiendo a todos los que quieran realmente disfrutar de Cartagena. muchas gracias
Casa Boutique Veranera is the perfect B&B for those people who want a great location in Cartagena's old town and a charming setting. The hotel is located in the Old City and is a short walk from all of the main attractions in the heart of the city. The hotel itself is extremely clean, staff is very friendly and amenities are great - air conditioning, rain shower, rooftop terrace. The Blue Room is on the bottom floor and there are no windows - we were told this ahead of time which was very considerate. While it was a little dark in the room, this did not bother us as we were not in the hotel much. The breakfast included fresh fruit and either a Colombian or American breakfast with coffee and juice - it was delicious. The staff, especially Catarina, was very personable and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Cartagena!
The room is one of the rooms in Hotel Casa Veranera. The room is not very large and has an own attached bathroom with a wonderful hot (!!!) shower. Personal in the Hotel is very helpful and always available. The house is in the San Diego neighbourhood, so all the attractions of Cartagenas old city are just in front of the door. I think, it is nearly impossible to find an adequate accomodation for this price in the neighbourhoods of San Diego and El Centro, apart from hostels.
On the downside the Hotel could be better in shape. It is a very well renovated, nice house, but things are getting old and it is not always clear, who is responsible for what. The house could be cleaner than it was during our stay, what had to do with some smaller construction works, which were not disturbing us at nay time.
So overall: Very good value for the neighbourhood, but a little bit more care about the business would be helpful.
We really appreciate you choosing to stay at Casa Boutique Veranera and hope you would consider us again the next time you visit Cartagena.
I also appreciate your comments regarding the condition of the house. We will definitely review them carefully and will work to improve on these areas.
Thank you again for your time and for staying with us.
Our experience at the Yellow room was great, it was clean, friendly staff and quiet at night. We thought it was good value for money!! We sure will be back next time we visit Cartagena.
Great stay in the yellow room. Friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Convenient location and great value.
We really enjoyed our stay here! We were in the blue room which is downstairs without windows, but that didn't bother us since we spent most of our time outside anyway. Great access to the courtyard and upper decks of the hotel to relax with a breeze in the hot afternoon. The staff was extremely hospitable and breakfasts were fantastic! Despite our extremely basic Spanish capacity and the staff's limited English, we got by just fine and still felt welcome and at home. We had a small issue with the plumbing in our room and in the downstairs area as the toilet ran consistently and leaked water on the bathroom floor. We think the issue was a larger plumbing issue for the entire downstairs so I'm sure it will be worked out soon with a plumber. The staff did everything they could to help in the situation and offered us alternatives, but it was our last night, so we just carried on.
I would definitely recommend staying here and would certainly stay there again. The location was great and really convenient to just about anything you could want to see or do. Thanks to all of the staff for the hospitality! Gracias!
Veranera is, in short, wonderful.
It's a quirky, open-air boutique hotel on one of our favorite streets in all of Cartagena. The managers and employees are glowingly nice. The food is delicious. The pool is small but enjoyable on those hot afternoons (and in the evenings with a cocktail!).
I see there is one bad review, and my only advice is: don't read it, and make sure to never be friends with that person.
It's a charming place and with all charming places it has its quirks. But they are almost insignificant.
If you want 24/7 pampering and everything to be completely new, go stay at one of the sterile hotels down the street. If you want charm and understated luxury and service, stay at Veranera.
My fiance and I will be back!
We really enjoyed our stay in the Blue Room and loved Cartagena. The house is located in a great spot in the old city that's close to everything, but stays nice and quiet at night. The hosts were very friendly and the place is in a beautiful colonial building. While the Blue Room doesn't have any windows, it's perfect for travelers who plan to spend most of their time exploring the city and the beaches and not hanging out inside. We had a great time and would stay here again!
We just stayed in the Blue Room at Glenda's beautiful house in Cartagena. It's a really excellent place, and we'd recommend it to anyone. It is right in the centre of the old town, and matches the description offered.
