Interaction with Guests
We live in the main home, and work long hours but in general are around and are available via msg and phone.
We're happy to give advice, make special arrangements, or leave you to your own devices if you prefer.
The Mighty Mississippi is a Big River, and is also the TN/AR state line, so most of Memphis' urban neighborhoods are just east of Downtown in Midtown, where we reside. Central Gardens borders both Downtown and Cooper Young. Cooper Young is a 20 min bike ride (5 min drive). Central Gardens is on the Nat'l Register of Historic Places and was voted one of North America's Best Old House Neighborhoods by This Old House. We're also consistently voted Best Neighborhood in Memphis by Memphis Magazine's annual poll. Central Gardens is lush (Tennessee's only neighborhood that's designated a level 3 arboretum), it's safe, friendly and remarkably accessible.
A FEW BLOCKS FROM THE TROLLEY, YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A CAR WHEN YOU BOOK HERE (though it affords more flexibility).
To see all of Memphis' famous hotspots, you may want to check out Memphis Zipcar, a car sharing service, or use Lyft, but it's possible to go without your own auto at this location b/c we are blocks from the midtown trolley extension that accesses Downtown. From there, there are several motorized tours available, including the Memphis Hop a tour w a circular route that allows you to get on and off at your own pace for a flat day rate. Stops include Graceland and Stax, which are a little further away.
UPDATE: The nearby trolley system is being overhauled but MATA is running electric busses along the dedicated route.
From the Carriage house it's a quick walk to the Cleveland Station for the Madison Ave Trolley line which provides easy access to the UT MED campus, Sun Studios, Autozone Park, and from the Main St line, FedExForum, Main St., the Mississippi Riverfront and Tom Lee Park, Beale St and the Nat'l Civil Rights Museum (to name a few).
Memphis has also been recognized for our developing bicycle infrastructure, including access from midtown to the largest urban park in the US -Shelby Farms- and the upcoming Harrahan Bridge project which will cross the mighty Mississip and connect with the Mississippi River Trail. Our neighborhood is ideal for cruising.
Memphis also has Amtrak Train routes to NOLA and overnight to Chicago if you have time for a side trip or are coming from either of these cities.

Make yourself at home!
We loved staying in this carriage house which was clean, well equipped and not far from downtown. The only remark is about the size of the bed in the master bedroom which is not that big. Furthermore, our hosts were having a pool party for which we would have liked to be invited :-)
We were immediately struck by the cute decor of this place. We did a quick stay in Memphis on the way to TX and would highly recommend this place. Beds were comfortable, the kitchen convenient for making coffee and cooling some of our snacks. Definitely recommend.
Great little find in Memphis and such a great Base to explore the city. Loved the neighbourhood and strolling the streets admiring the gorgeous houses. Great communication with Kimble, lovely welcome and the carriage house is well equipped for a home away from home. Excellent Thai restaurant with a couple of minutes walk.
Very happy experience staying her And would recommend
Our stay in Memphis was great. We were 4 adults staying for 2 nights. The little house provided a cozy place to sleep. It was hot and humid in memphis, but the A/C provided cool comfort. The house was safe, clean and situated in a convenient location.
The only bathroom on the main floor can be tricky for those who need to get up in the night. The hosts left loads of tourist information and suggestions.
We were really happy with the Carriage House, thanks Matt and Kimble! It was great for four people, each of the two couples had their own room. Everything was nice and tidy. Kitchen was well equipped. The neighborhood was especially great, with very beautiful houses and lots of restaurants to eat in. Matt and Kimble were very friendly too.
Matt and Kimble were excellent hosts! When I said we were bummed that we couldn't enjoy local music because we'd need to look after our kids, Kimble (quite unexpectedly) took the time to look up a dozen recommendations for kid-friendly concerts and other events. Incredible. The house was super-comfortable, too. We'd stay again.
About the Host, Matt And Kimble
We love traveling but are always, always glad to come back to Memphis. It won't take you long to see why we love living in this city. I work for the Memphis Grizzlies and my husband is a finish carpenter, old home remodeler and sings in a couple of bands. I am a water baby, a basketball freak, love camping, music, old houses, and the big, wonderful family of friends we have found in our beloved midtown.
