The Mighty Mississippi is a Big River, and is also the TN/AR state line, so most of Memphis' urban neighborhoods are just east of Downtown in Midtown, where we reside. Central Gardens borders both Downtown and Cooper Young. Cooper Young is a 20 min bike ride (5 min drive). Central Gardens is on the Nat'l Register of Historic Places and was voted one of North America's Best Old House Neighborhoods by This Old House. We're also consistently voted Best Neighborhood in Memphis by Memphis Magazine's annual poll. Central Gardens is lush (Tennessee's only neighborhood that's designated a level 3 arboretum), it's safe, friendly and remarkably accessible.
Perfect accomodations for Gonerfest, Memphis in May, Beale Street Music Fest, BBQ Festival, Memphis Grizzlies (playoff games!), Cooper Young Festival, Stax, Graceland, Sun Studios, The National Civil Rights Museum, The National Ornamental Metal Museum, The Memphis Rock and Soul Museum and so much more.
Great for wedding guests, vacationers as well as those with business in Memphis.
A FEW BLOCKS FROM THE TROLLEY, YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A CAR WHEN YOU BOOK HERE.
To see all of Memphis' famous hotspots, you may want to check out Memphis Zipcar, a car sharing service, but it's possible to go without your own auto at this location b/c we are blocks from the midtown trolley extension that accesses Downtown. From there, there are several motorized tours available, including the Memphis Hop a tour w a circular route that allows you to get on and off at your own pace for a flat day rate. Stops include Graceland and Stax, which are a little further away.
Start by taking the trolley Downtown. From the Carriage house it's a quick walk to the Madison Ave trolley which provides easy access to the UT MED campus, Sun Studios, Autozone Park, FedExForum, Main St., the Mississippi Riverfront and Tom Lee Park, Beale St and the Nat'l Civil Rights Museum (to name a few).
Memphis has also been recognized for our developing bicycle infrastructure, including access from midtown to the largest urban park in the US -Shelby Farms- and the upcoming Harrahan Bridge project which will cross the mighty Mississip and connect with the Mississippi River Trail. Our neighborhood is ideal for cruising.
Memphis also has overnight Amtrak Train routes to NOLA and Chicago if you have time for a side trip or are coming from either of these cities.

Memphis was named one of the top 20 places in the world to visit in 2013 by MSN so come check our hometown out.
Perfect isn't a word I'd use that often, but Matt & Kimble's place was just that for us. We're a family of four and our boys are 7 and 4. We had a lovely room each and a big kitchen area for hanging out and a good sized back yard where the boys played soccer and cricket. Checking in was easy as the instructions were clear. The towels and bedding were high quality and the part of town the house is in is beautiful - lots of trees and grand residences and a short drive to anywhere, even the airport was only about 15 mins. Kimble gave us loads of useful info, especially about current stuff going on in town. We want to come back already... and next time we'll make a Grizzlies game!
Matt and Kimble's Carriage House was perfect for our stay in Memphis. It was clean, perfectly situatuated (about 10 minutes to all the main attractions) and private. Everything that you needed was there and I would stay there again. The two upstairs rooms are very private and it feels like a large home. Matt and Kimble were very amiable and constantly gave us advise as to where to go to make the most of our stay.
Matt and Kimble were really friendly and my family enjoyed staying at this cute house in Memphis. We really liked the character of the place. The location was nice for all the places we visited (graceland, national human rights museum, a parade, etc.).
Thanks to Matt and Kimble for a great stay in Memphis. The coach house is fully equipped, quiet, cozy, and has a great location/is in a great neighborhood to boot. Plus, Kimble hooked us up with some awesome ribs. Can't beat that. Looking forward to our next visit!
What a fantastic place! So quaint and comfortable, and an amazing deal for the price. The location was great for getting around town ... a quick trip to any of the top-line Memphis attractions. Matt and Kimble's suggestions for restaurants, etc., were very helpful, and their carriage house offered a great, quiet and comfortable place to "come home to" after a day on Beale Street, in Cooper-Young, at Stax or Sun Records, or just exploring downtown. We'll recommend Matt and Kimble's place to anyone heading to Memphis.
Great place to stay! Kimble is so helpful. If you have a question, just ask. You will get a ton of info on where to go and where to eat. The carriage house has everything you will need. Decorated so cute! Located very centrally to everything you are going to want to do.
Awesome place! The location was great and the extra space and kitchen were nice bonuses. We had privacy and the record player was a big hit with everyone. We would stay again if we were to visit Memphis again.
Absolutely wonderful experience! The directions to the house were spot-on. Easily checked ourselves in late at night. The house was spotless, and we loved the local's list of what to do, see, and eat during our Memphis stay. Will definitely stay there again! Great neighborhood, too.
This is THE place to have if you're in Memphis and want an affordable, clean, spacious, and convenient place to stay. The hosts are wonderful to work with, have excellent communication, and obviously take their AirBnB hosting responsibilities seriously. This will always be our first choice when staying in Memphis!
Memphis was fantastic, and so was the Carriage House. The house was perfect for the four of us, very clean and well-appointed, with all the amenities/extras we could possibly need. Kimble was in contact all weekend with great suggestions on places to eat/drink/visit, and was quick to answer any questions we had. The house is in a lovely neighborhood, which was nice and quiet, but very close to everything, and parking was plentiful. If you're spending time in Memphis, just book this place already.
