This is a beautifully renovated colonial house that captured the romance of this sultry seaside city. Three standard room and one Suite, each has it's own private bath, with AC, TV and eclectic furnishing. Ask for the Suite if interested.
We want to share the magic of Cartagena with you. After all, it's a city where Garcia Marquez has a house, and used as inspiration for some of his novels. To come here, is to experience the seaside lifestyle, the pace of life, and the warmth of Cartagena people. They love to sit around and tell stories; so we have many places in the house for you to linger and just relax in this magical city. This is where fairytales and reality blends.

We have a staff on the premise at all time to make sure that any needs of the house is addressed. Our goal is to introduce to you what life is like in this magical city and we hope that you will make Veranera your home away from home.
We are located in San Diego, named after the local San Diego Convent, now known as the Beaux Arts School Building. In front of it is the Convent of the Nuns of the Order of Saint Clare, now the Hotel Santa Clara.
You will find many great restaurants, bars just a couple blocks away.
The walled-in city is wonderful to explore on foot. You will find many places very easy to get to. Taxi is also extremely convenient in the City, usually cost about 5000 pesos ($3 USD) anywhere within the city.
We had a wonderful stay! The staff was immensely helpful despite our limited Spanish. Would definitely recommend to others!
Boutique hotel that is as described. Though we never met Glenda, the staff is great and made us feel welcomed, though they do not know English. Room was as described, hotel was clean and quiet - GREAT location (very safe and walkable within the walled city and out of it). Daily breakfast was also excellent: we always had a fresh fruit smoothie, coffee, fruit, and a main course.
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Veranera! The staff was incredibly helpful and despite our limited Spanish, they went out of their way to understand what we needed and help us out. We stayed in the green room which was on the upper level by the pool. The pink room and the suite are also on that level. The other 2 rooms are below. The traditional Colombian breakfast was delicious. They location is about a 10 minute walk from the main action in the Old City but there are several nearby squares with lots of charming restaurant nearby. We would love to stay here again if we ever return to Cartagena.
My friend and I had the BEST experience at the Romantic Colonial House over Christmas/New Years. Glenda went out of her way to give tips and specific instructions to make sure we arrived safely from the airport, expected cost, etc. The staff was warm, kind and kept the place impeccable. And it doesn't get better than that location.
Nos gustó mucho estacionar en la casa Veranera, la gentileza del personal era excepcional, buen desayuno y la habitación simple, con estilo e limpia.
All the rooms are on the top floor and share a lounge area with a plunge pool. Never met Glenda, but everyone there was warm and helpful. Breakfast is very good, but the atrium where it is served gets very warm. My bed was very comfortable.
It was an amazing experience: the staff is super friendly and nice, the room was just what we were looking for, the location is excelent. If you are looking for a friendly, well located, nice (but not fancy) and affordable, this is the place for you.
We appreciate you choosing Casa Boutique Veranera during your stay and thank you for taking the time to write your comments. I sincerely hope this is not the last time you stay with us, please keep us in mind for your next visit as your "home away from home".
