This is a beautifully renovated colonial house that captured the romance of this sultry seaside city. The Yellow room has it's own private bath, AC, TV and eclectic furnishing. Also comes with complimentary breakfast and wifi.
We want to share the magic of Cartagena with you. After all, it's a city where Garcia Marquez has a house, and used as inspiration for some of his novels. To come here, is to experience the seaside lifestyle, the pace of life, and the warmth of Cartagena people. They love to sit around and tell stories; so we have many places in the house for you to linger and just relax in this magical city. This is where fairytales and reality blends.
- Complimentary breakfast with choice of eggs or typical Cartagena breakfast
- Complimentary wifi access
- Use of kitchen
We have a staff on the premise at all time to make sure that any needs of the house is addressed. Our goal is to introduce to you what life is like in this magical city and we hope that you will make Veranera your home away from home.
We are located in San Diego, named after the local San Diego Convent, now known as the Beaux Arts School Building. In front of it is the Convent of the Nuns of the Order of Saint Clare, now the Hotel Santa Clara.
You will find many great restaurants, bars just a couple blocks away.
The walled-in city is wonderful to explore on foot. You will find many places very easy to get to. Taxi is also extremely convenient in the City, usually cost about 5000 pesos ($3 USD) anywhere within the city.

Our experience at the Yellow room was great, it was clean, friendly staff and quiet at night. We thought it was good value for money!! We sure will be back next time we visit Cartagena.
Great stay in the yellow room. Friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Convenient location and great value.
Veranera is, in short, wonderful.
It's a quirky, open-air boutique hotel on one of our favorite streets in all of Cartagena. The managers and employees are glowingly nice. The food is delicious. The pool is small but enjoyable on those hot afternoons (and in the evenings with a cocktail!).
I see there is one bad review, and my only advice is: don't read it, and make sure to never be friends with that person.
It's a charming place and with all charming places it has its quirks. But they are almost insignificant.
If you want 24/7 pampering and everything to be completely new, go stay at one of the sterile hotels down the street. If you want charm and understated luxury and service, stay at Veranera.
My fiance and I will be back!
Excellent service and beauty place to stay!
I reserved the yellow room for my parents. They went to Cartagena but they don't want the usual hotel. Then I saw the place and done! They loved the house. Amazing detail decoration and the service was amazing. They loved the breakfast.
Español: excelente servicio, la decoración y el ambiente maravillosos. Reserve la habitación para mis padres y quedaron fascinados con la hospitalidad y el servicio. Recomendado!
Fantastic place. Perfect location, really lovely welcome from Jose Louis and Cristina and a beautifully decorated house. The rooms are lovely and the communal space on the roof and by the pool is a great place to escape the heat. We really enjoyed our stay
The name of this Place is Casaboutique VERANERA, well first when I arrived i did not have on my confirmation this information and neither I had the telephone number of the place, only a phone number in the USA so it was kind of difficult to get a taxi driver who could take me there. Luckly the Airport Information Desk helped me.
The house is very beautifully decorated and the staff, Cathrina y Juan muy simpaticos however, the internet did not work, no communication at all ( no phone, no wireless) nobody could solve the problem in the 4 days I stayed there, every day the information was the same, tomorrow it will work...
The room I stayed was dark and humid and I had to ask to change the towels and to add bathroom ammenities during my stay, wich for a Boutique Hotel should be automaticly done.
The positive part is the location, it is in the heart of the old city center close to very nice restaurants and nice spots.
Overall I would evaluate it as too expensive for what it offers you.
Lovely quiet little place with central court yard and small pool on the first floor. It's some where inbetween a boutique hotel and apartment complex. The kitchens in the basement, and then the rest of it is like a hotel.
