“Casa Santa Ana” is a recently built private home. Perfect for people who wish to visit the beautiful, friendly Andean town of Santa Ana de Cotacachi & use it as a base to explore the area around. Like the nearby famous market town of Otavalo.
A unique place to relax. Alone. As a couple. With friends or as a family. Besides a living room with a fire place & kitchen, the house has 2 bedrooms & bathrooms, a rooftop terrace with fireplace and beautiful views and a place to work. Excellent Wifi.
The space
Concerning the Airbnb’s architectural style, we were inspired by a typical Andean design. Living spaces gathered around an inner garden. Connected through a covered corridor.
To build it, we used rustic materials such as wood & exposed brick, besides more modern finishes. All obtained locally, including the wooden furniture, handmade by a local carpenter.
Besides the spacious living room - with a fireplace for the colder Andean nights - there’s a full-equipped kitchen including, of course, a coffee maker and a tea-kettle, to start the day well.
There are two comfortable bedrooms. One with a queen bed, the other with two individual beds. Each bedroom has ample space for your belongings in the open closets and drawers. And each room comes with its own bathroom with hot showers.
Besides the open garden terrace (the garden is busy growing), the house has a partially covered terrace on the second floor. This terrace has its own fireplace and is the perfect spot to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Or just a glass of wine or a beer in the afternoon. A good place to work, to relax and most importantly, to get the best 360° views of the surrounding Andean highlands.
On the premises you’ll find a little outdoor storage area, where you can use the washing machine. Outside you'll find a traditional washing block, which serves many purposes. There's space for one car.
Casa Santa Ana is located in a quiet neighborhood only a 10 minutes walk from the cozy city center of Cotacachi. It doesn’t matter if you have to go to the Plaza San Francisco or to the Central Square. You can also take a taxi of course or the bus, that passes nearby (either coming into town, or heading out to Otavalo (15 min) or Ibarra (30 min).
Throughout the years the city center - besides the famous leather shops - has grown significantly when it comes to restaurants, cafeterias, delicacy shops, supermarkets, pharmacies. A small, cozy & friendly town.
We are sure you will love the place, just as we do! We will be your hosts when you need us, but we will let you have your private home.
We speak English, Spanish and Dutch.

The whole house and garden is yours during your stay.
Other things to note
Around Cotacachi you’ll find a long list of worthwhile attractions. Natural attractions like the Cuicocha Crater Lake (20 minutes by car) or the Peguche Waterfall. Or else the world famous indigenous handicraft market of Otavalo. All easily reached within half an hour by car/taxi.
A little further away you can visit Ibarra (shopping), Chachimbiro (renowned for its thermal springs), Cayambe/ Mitad del Mundo monument (45 minutes), Cochasqui (Pre-Inca ruins) or even Quito.
Additionally, during your stay we can provide you with trustworthy people who can help you with transport, offer a tourist guide or driver to help you get to know the region better.
Finally, we want to remind you that we support sustainable tourism, so we ask all our guests to be respectful of the environment, the house rules and the neighbors. We believe every little gesture counts, and together we can make a difference. In Cotacachi and especially in the neighborhoods, people are used to greet everyone they encounter. A simple "buenos días" (good morning) or "buenas tardes" (good afternoon) goes a long way.
