Amazing place to explore Kohala Coast in Big Island.
The hosts, specially Loring, are super kind and helpful.
The cottage was Very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We really felt at home.
We arrived in Waimea late in the evening after a VERY long day, and we breathed a sigh of relief when we walked into this cottage. It's simple, elegant, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully stocked with everything one might need. The hosts are so warm and welcoming. We wish we could have stayed longer!
we spent two lovely nights at this beautiful cottage. Loring and Lloyd were very welcoming, friendly and the communication was perfect!!
the cottage has everything you need and more! a super comfy bed, the best shower, fully equipped kitchen, tv, bodyboards...
we totally recommend staying here!
The Hualalai Cottage is a great location for visiting the northern part of big island.
The cottage is very nice and charming. It has everything you need. We really enjoyed the quite location and the beautiful view on the Mauna Kea during our breakfast on the veranda.
Everything was very well prepared for us even we did not meet Lloyd and Loring personally
Thank a lot Loring, Lloyd.
We really can recommend this location
The cottage was perfect! The fridge and hot plate made it easy for us to have food at home. We were very appreciative of the boogie boards and cooler that Loring and Lloyd had for us to use. They had just about everything we could have needed! We appreciated the privacy as well; we felt comfortable coming and going as we wished.
On a scale of 1-10, this place is an 11!
Being a guest at Hualalai Cottage is like staying with family (the good ones). The cottage is wonderfully appointed, with all the amenities that you could want, and then some. From the extra blankets, to the boogie boards and snorkel gear, guide books and maps, all the way to the mini rice cooker, the Howells have thought about everything.
Their care and attention to detail doesn't just stop with the amenities, Loring is one of the most warm and gracious hosts we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. You really do feel like a guest in their home, while they afford you the utmost privacy.
Can't say enough wonderful things about this place and its owners. But I will give you one more example of why it's so special...
During our stay here, I had the misfortune of suffering a rather serious accident while at the beach. I ended up having to go to the hospital (in the middle of the town Christmas parade) and was on crutches with a splint on my leg. Loring went above and beyond to make sure that I was well taken care of and have everything I could possibly need. She is a true gem and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to meet her, as well as stay in her lovely home.
Moreover, the cottage is located in beautiful Waimea which, is at the juncture of some of the most beautiful rolling hills (anywhere) and the best beaches on the Big Island. While it might not look like it on the map, Waimea is actually quite "centrally" located if you're planning on exploring the northern half of the island. This is the closest (nice) place from which to base yourself if you are interested in visiting Mauna Lea volcano as well.
You can't go wrong with this place. Happy travels.
David and Rossanna, thank you so much for the over-the-top compliment-full review! It was a pleasure to have you here ~ helping out is what we do.. it's the Hawaiian Aloha Spirit, dear to our hearts. We hope that you are healing well! We apologize for our slow computer speed; it's as fast as DSL will go here. You've inspired us to change to cable for greater speed!! Much Aloha to you both!
We had such a great and lovely stay at the cottage. It couldn't have been better. The accomodation is very cosy, clean and quiet. And I also have to add, that you can see everywhere how much heart and energy they spent to furnish and arrange everything. Lloyd and Loring are such warm and helpful hosts and for us, it really was the best place to stay on Big Island! Doreen & Daniel
Originally from Northern California and Arkansas, and with deep roots here in Hawaii, we have made our home in the sweet town of Waimea since 2003. We love our little spot of paradise on the Big Island and would love to share it with you too!
