A sweet little Dublin home. Cosy apartment in classic Georgian building on a tree-lined avenue. Good neighbourhood, 15 mins walk from city centre, 5 mins from Grand Canal, 20 mins Trinity or UCD. Parks, shops, bars and restaurants close by.
Cosy little apartment, available to sublet while resident travels, in embassy district, close to city centre (5 mins by bus or 15 mins walking). On a quiet leafy avenue, one of the best addresses in Dublin, in a classic Georgian building, behind electronic gates with private parking.
Inside there is a well-appointed bathroom with tub and shower, hall with small desk, double bedroom, light and airy living room with the high ceilings and tall sash windows of Georgian buildings, double sofa bed, romantic open fireplace and original marble mantelpiece, widescreen TV with digital box, DVD player and large DVD collection, tiny galley kitchen, washing machine and all mod cons.
The whole is maintained to a good standard and is professionally cleaned before your arrival. Non-smoking building; smoke alarms in every room. This is a lovely place to stay and will suit a single traveller or couple; same rate per night for one or two people staying here.
There is a double sofa bed in the living room, so two friends or a couple with child(ren) could also stay here but it would be a squeeze for more than two - I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay.
My home is gay friendly.
Many travellers have been my guests and happy with their temporary home in Dublin. Served by all transport links with busy Baggot Street Bridge nearby. There you will find restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, supermarket. It is a short and pleasant walk (or a shorter bus ride) to Merrion Square with The National Gallery and The Dail (Parliament). A little further to St Stephen’s Green and the shopping area. See map to confirm just how central this is while being in a lovely residential area with the famous Herbert Park and Grand Canal on your doorstep. Hi-speed wireless broadband included.
There is an aircoach directly from the airport to about 4 mins walk from the building that runs 24 hours a day.
Character and charm, with comfort and a great location.
You have the keys and sole use of the apartment for your stay. You have wifi, tv with cable, a big DVD collection, a nice bathroom and cooking facilities.
Interaction with Guests
I will meet you in person and show you around, when possible. If not, my housekeeper Kay will meet you. In the winter, I will try to collect you from the aircoach and bring you to the apartment. I will always be available within 24 hours if there is an emergency and there always are back-up people nearby, eg the housekeeper and my neighbour, with spare keys.
It's walking distance into the centre so you're in the beating heart of the city - but it's on an elegant tree-lined avenue and very quiet. The apartment is in a Georgian house in an area famous for its architectural beauty. There are parks, shops, restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. You will find it easy to feel the vibrant atmosphere of Dublin and retreat to peace and quiet.
Couldn't be easier, the bus at the end of the road will have you in the city centre in 5 minutes, there is also easy access to the DART train and the LUAS tram. (website hidden) has a stand nearby.
But the easiest of all is to go to the top of the road, turn left and it's a straight line into the centre. You will be at the parliament, The National Gallery, Trinity College in 15 minutes.
University College Dublin is a 10-15 minutes bus ride in the other direction and The Royal Dublin Society (RDS) is a 5 minute walk away.
We ask that you be considerate of our neighbours as regards noise, especially on the stairs, after 11 pm. There is one double bedroom - so best for single travellers or a couple but an extra person could stay on sofabed in living room.
Strictly no smoking - it will set off alarms.
Mary was a very warm and accomodating host. The flat was just as described and she was very helpful with local tips and guidance.
Mary is fantastic ! Her lovely apartment and the area was beautiful . There are several restaurants and pubs and all sorts of comforts. The bus station is close to home and this is very convenient . Recommend to all my experience .
Mary's place was great for our visit to Ireland, we wanted to feel what it would be like to live in Dublin, so picked her place for it's location, and "someone actually lives here" setup and feel. The space is good for 2 people, anymore would be pretty tight, and it's a great location for walking/travelling around the city and close to plenty of shops and restaurants. Mary went out of her way to be flexible and ensure we got the keys when we arrived and also left food for breakfast throughout the week. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her place to anyone travelling to Dublin!
Mary's place was perfect for my trip in Dublin. It is convenient for me to get a bus to the city center, Bus 46A with 5 mins walk and I have been using Hailo to get a cab at the doorstep, which is super convenient. :) There are lots of (email hidden), maybe 10 mins walk away, which is ideal. Mary was very responsive and she is always trying to make my stay comfortable. Her space is very cosy and the living room is hidden but you will be amazed when you see it.
Mary made us feel very welcome and showed us around the apartment in detail. We had a great stay and everything was as described. Recommended!
The apartment in a typical Irish house in the beautiful embassy quarter is perfect for two to three travelers. It is cozy and equipped with everything you need. The city center is only a 20 minute walk away, but can also be easily reached by bus. Shops and pubs are not far away.
Our host, Mary, is very accommodating and gracious. Before and during our journey she has answered all questions very quickly - she had bought us for a worry-free start in Dublin even fresh food. Everything was perfect! As in "Hotel Mama". ;-) Thank you Mary for a nice stay.
Writer, traveller, Dubliner. I have always had lovely guests who take good care of my home and I like renting it out, knowing people will have a great Irish experience while they are here. I travel a lot myself and I love airbnb. I am always only a phone call or an email away if you need anything while you're staying here.
