Private luxurious Colonial style home located two blocks from Langosta Beach and five minutes to the town of Tamarindo. It sleeps six, with one king-size, one queen and two single beds.
The home is built in the style of the homes found in Granada, Nicaragua, wherein the rooms are arranged around an interior courtyard with pool in the colonial style. This makes for a beautiful home, and at the same time very private and secure.
The home has three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and comes fully equipped with a dishwasher, wireless internet, air conditioning in all bedrooms, TV, stereo hookup for an iPod, microwave, propane stove, comfortable furniture, and a large garage.
The neighborhood is mostly residential and quiet, with a supermarket and nice restaurants within walking distance.
Most importantly the beach with a nice surf break is only 2 blocks away.
Wow, what a fantastic vacation. Joost is an *excellent* host. He was extremely helpful. The house is fantastic. Very well appointed, and very comfortable. The walk to Tamarindo's main strip with surf rental shops and restaurants galore is only ~15 min, and you can cut down a little foot path to Tamarindo beach after about ~5 min and do most of the walk on the beautiful beach. I wouldn't hesistate to recommend this accommodation to any friends or family. Thanks so much Joost!
Casa Colonial is an amazing place and we could not have been happier with our decision with staying there instead of a hotel. The house fitted perfectly for us with the three separate bed+bathrooms and the joined livingroom, kitchen and pool. We spend all the time in the house together in that area.
The beach and city is very close and in walking distance.
Joost is a great guy! Trustworthy, honest and very helpfull.
All in all we recommend this place to everyone :)
Joost is a wonderful host. He showed us around the house and made sure we knew how to contact him if anything was needed. The house is beautiful, we loved the open air design and enjoyed the pool. The bedrooms and baths are all very nice and comfortable. The kitchen had all of the necessary cooking equipment including sorted pots and pans, a microwave oven, and coffee pot.
The house is in a great location with access to the beach and a walk or bike ride from town. The property backs up to a forest reserve so we saw plenty of species of birds. We were delighted with a visit from a troop of howler monkeys up on the roof one day, they seemed to be just passing through. We were not so happy with a visit from a scorpion one evening, but don't freak out, they are everywhere and have the sting of wasp if bitten. Be prepared for dust from cars on the road on parts that have not been treated with molasses. You may want to wear sunglasses and bring a light scarf especially if you have asthma. The road in front of the house has been treated by the way.
Joost Hauwert was out of the country and Mark covered the hosting well. The neighborhood was lightly populated and well traveled dirt road in front of property. The property was well represented with the exception of some features that were inoperable and in poor repair.
Faucet in mb not connected to counter, phone not working, tub spout in upstairs bathroom missing, toilet loose & leaking in upstairs bathroom, fountain in pool area not working, garage door opener not working, mattresses in need of replacement, and house not clean upon arriving.
We left after six of the nine day stay and found better arrangements.
I was disappointed and lost money.
Jody, I apologize if this was your experience. The few minor things have been fixed and you are the first guests in one year that complain about the condition of the house.
Sorry if you think you lost money, it was your choice to leave and we could have fixed the minor details in no time during your stay. Sunny greetings from Tamarindo, pura vida, Joost
If I had to describe the experience at Casa Colonial in one word it would be enchanting. It has a wonderful, charming and peaceful feeling to the home that is only improved by the quality of the stay there. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were luxurious, and the interior of the home was as beautiful as the pictures. And despite my critical nature, I can't find much to improve on for future guests. Joost and his crew of groundskeepers have really worked hard to make the Casa Colonial a real oasis in the middle of an oasis. I would not only recommend staying here to a friend, a couple, a group of couples, a family, or friends, I would stay there again myself. Thank you Joost for the wonderful week in your beautiful home!
Casa Colonial was perfect for my bro-cation with two friends - easy access to all Tamarindo has to offer and a relaxing escape when you're ready to get away. Joost went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us great recommendations on restaurants, bars, and activities around the area.
The house is located in a quiet neighborhood, close to supermarkets, restaurants and the beach. It is a beautiful house with good working A/C and Joost is an excellent host! I loved my stay and thank Joost for his hospitality! Definitely will stay there again.
