About this listing
Private luxurious Colonial style home located two blocks from Langosta Beach and five minutes to the town of Tamarindo. It sleeps six, with one king-size, one queen and two single beds.
The home is built in the style of the homes found in Granada, Nicaragua, wherein the rooms are arranged around an interior courtyard with pool in the colonial style. This makes for a beautiful home, and at the same time very private and secure.
The home has three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and comes fully equipped with a dishwasher, wireless internet, air conditioning in all bedrooms, TV, stereo hookup for an iPod, microwave, propane stove, comfortable furniture, and a large garage.
The neighborhood is mostly residential and quiet, with a supermarket and nice restaurants within walking distance.
Most importantly the beach with a nice surf break is only 2 blocks away.
Excelente lugar, muy acogedor al final optamos por quedarnos una noche mas porque nadie se quería ir, cuenta con todo lo necesario, tanto q ni ganas de salir dan, el anfitrión muy atento y servicial! Mi nuevo lugar favorito!
We stayed here with our 3 children and instantly fell in love with the house and the area. Joost was very easy to communicate with and very quick to respond to messages. Mark Brown is the property manager and he was really wonderful. He was helpful beyond expectation and gave us great recommendations for Tamarindo and our next destination. We had howler monkeys on the roof multiple times, we found a little crab in the kitchen one evening, and the geckos were frequent visitors. This home was just perfect and I would recommend it to anyone.
Joost had a family emergency to attend to in Holland so he arranged to have a colleague get us situated in Casa Colonial. Everything went smoothly and the house was stunning! Adequately supplied with everything we needed. We chose to walk into Tamarindo a couple of nights which wasn't that far and when we took a cab it was $4 USD. Joost kept checking in during our stay to make sure everything was going well. We highly recommend Casa Colonial and would stay again when we return.
This is the place to experience Costa Rica and the towns of Tamarindo and neighboring Playa Langosta. Joost and Mark were there to greet us and dropped by once in awhile to chat and bring a few supplies. This was Joost's personal house that he raised his family in and now he rents it out.
We like resorts also but wanted a different experience for our first visit to Costa Rica and Casa Colonial is the best of both worlds. The house was our basecamp for venturing out everyday. It is within a short walk of several beaches and right down the road from a resort for a breakfast buffet, a neighborhood grocery store and the awesome Langosta Beach Club.
The house is literally open to the outdoors with a courtyard and pool. This takes some getting used to but you haven't lived until you watch a rainstorm move through while sitting on your couch. Our kids spent most every minute in the pool under our watchful eyes while we at the house and we even had a group of 15+ monkeys one morning in the trees above the courtyard, how cool!
The three bedrooms can all be closed off and have great air conditioning with their own bathrooms and showers. We were just there in July so it was warm with humidity but we'd just retreat to the pool or bedroom areas during the afternoons.
We absolutely loved staying at Casa Colonial. Our host Joost was truly amazing and thoughtful and made sure that everything was taken care of before and during the trip. The house is beautiful, perfect for families and very well situated. As I travel by myself with my kids safety is very important and the house was perfect for us. Joost's wife is an excellent cook as well. She prepared a delicious meal for us when we arrived.
This is the best house in Tamarindo!!! We went as a group of 6 (2 couples and 2 singles) and it fit us all very comfortably. It's a beautiful house, great fully stocked kitchen, and the pool is amazing! It is a 4-5 minute drive from the house to the center of Tamarindo, or a long walk. It is a quick walk to Playa Langosta which is beautiful. We were met by Mark, the property manager, who gave us a whole lot of info about the town. They also had the house cleaned half way through our stay. If you can, book this house!!
Joost, our host, was a wonderful host. Available at all times to help, he gave us advice about where to go for dinner and activities. For example, he told us about the best beaches, restaurants and zip lining activities. Also, answered messages right away when we had an immediate question. The pool was cloudy on the first day and Joost sent the pool guy to check it our immediately after we called him. Our daughter arrived at a different date and Joost provided a driver to pick her up at the airport and bring her to the house. We felt safe and well taken care of.
