About this listing
A sweet little Dublin home. Cosy apartment in classic Georgian building on a tree-lined avenue. Good neighbourhood, 15 mins walk from city centre, 5 mins from Grand Canal, 20 mins Trinity or UCD. Parks, shops, bars and restaurants close by.
Cosy little apartment, available to sublet while resident travels, in embassy district, close to city centre (5 mins by bus or 15 mins walking). On a quiet leafy avenue, one of the best addresses in Dublin, in a classic Georgian building, behind electronic gates with private parking.
Inside there is a well-appointed bathroom with tub and shower, hall with small desk, double bedroom, light and airy living room with the high ceilings and tall sash windows of Georgian buildings, double sofa bed, romantic open fireplace and original marble mantelpiece, widescreen TV with digital box, DVD player and large DVD collection, tiny galley kitchen, washing machine and all mod cons.
The whole is maintained to a good standard and is professionally cleaned before your arrival. Non-smoking building; smoke alarms in every room. This is a lovely place to stay and will suit a single traveller or couple; same rate per night for one or two people staying here.
There is a double sofa bed in the living room, so two friends or a couple with child(ren) could also stay here but it would be a squeeze for more than two - I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay.
My home is gay friendly.
Many travellers have been my guests and happy with their temporary home in Dublin. Served by all transport links with busy Baggot Street Bridge nearby. There you will find restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, supermarket. It is a short and pleasant walk (or a shorter bus ride) to Merrion Square with The National Gallery and The Dail (Parliament). A little further to St Stephen’s Green and the shopping area. See map to confirm just how central this is while being in a lovely residential area with the famous Herbert Park and Grand Canal on your doorstep. Hi-speed wireless broadband included.
There is an aircoach directly from the airport to about 4 mins walk from the building that runs 24 hours a day.
Character and charm, with comfort and a great location.
You have the keys and sole use of the apartment for your stay. You have wifi, tv with cable, a big DVD collection, a nice bathroom and cooking facilities.
Interaction with Guests
I will meet you in person and show you around, when possible. If not, my housekeeper Kay will meet you. In the winter, I will try to collect you from the aircoach and bring you to the apartment. I will always be available within 24 hours if there is an emergency and there always are back-up people nearby, eg the housekeeper and my neighbour, with spare keys.
It's walking distance into the centre so you're in the beating heart of the city - but it's on an elegant tree-lined avenue and very quiet. The apartment is in a Georgian house in an area famous for its architectural beauty. There are parks, shops, restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. You will find it easy to feel the vibrant atmosphere of Dublin and retreat to peace and quiet.
Couldn't be easier, the bus at the end of the road will have you in the city centre in 5 minutes, there is also easy access to the DART train and the LUAS tram. (website hidden) has a stand nearby.
But the easiest of all is to go to the top of the road, turn left and it's a straight line into the centre. You will be at the parliament, The National Gallery, Trinity College in 15 minutes.
University College Dublin is a 10-15 minutes bus ride in the other direction and The Royal Dublin Society (RDS) is a 5 minute walk away.
We ask that you be considerate of our neighbours as regards noise, especially on the stairs, after 11 pm. There is one double bedroom - so best for single travellers or a couple but an extra person could stay on sofabed in living room. No smoking indoors but you can smoke outside (do please put your cigarette ends in the bins outside).
The apartment was great. It's in a nice, quiet, and comfortable area. Mary was very accommodating and stocked the fridge for me before I arrived. She gave me some good tips for getting around Dublin. I would definitely stay in her apartment again.
Wonderful stay, Mary really went the extra effort to make us feel welcome and was always on hand to answer any questions as they popped up. Detailed instructions made everything simple to manage and would definitely recommend to others.
The apartment is located in very calm and quiet neighbourhood. Though it is very close to city centre. I would say it was a perfect location for me, cause I did want to stay in a busy centre with crowds of tourists. I never heard neighbours, building is very quiet.
Apartment is small but very cozy. Perfect for a couple or single traveler. Appreciate the food Mary left in the kitchen.
Mary is very friendly and always ready to help. I really enjoyed my stay and can strongly recommend this accommodation.
Thank you very much, Mary.
Mary was a great hostess! She immediately made we feel welcome. She showed me around the apartment, offered some suggestions for the local area, and showed how everything worked.
Kay, a friend of the host, greeted us on our arrival like we were long lost friends who had finally arrived. Very warm and welcoming! The listing description was very accurate and along with the pictures made it feel like we had already been there. The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful, one of the best in Dublin; 5 minute walk to shopping and 15 minutes to everything else in Dublin! Extensive local bus service with stops nearby as well.
The Georgian building is beautifully maintained. The apt is very quiet, cozy and very homey. It had everything we needed. Mary, the host, was proactive in communicating with us while we were there to make sure we were comfortable and didn’t need anything. She is wonderful! Kay was nearby to help us with anything else.
All in all an excellent place to lay our heads, put up our feet and feel right at home.
Nice apartment. Check in was easy. I like the neighbourhood. Not so great for the Luas, better for the DART.
Laundry and ironing board made things really easy for a business trip.
About the Host, Mary
Writer, traveller, Dubliner. I have always had lovely guests who take good care of my home and I like renting it out, knowing people will have a great Irish experience while they are here. I travel a lot myself and I love airbnb. I am always only a phone call or an email away if you need anything while you're staying here.
