Welcome to Vancouver! We would love to have you stay in our spacious private room at our house in Vancouver’s Oakridge neighbourhood.
Special Note: We have a $10 surcharge for single night stays.
Guests can enjoy coffee from some of Vancouver’s finest roasters every morning, and we would love to point you to some of our favourite spots in the city.
The house is centrally located with easy access to downtown, UBC and the airport. The room has a private entrance through the backyard and includes access to a shared kitchen with food storage for longer stays. It has an incredibly comfortable queen-size bed and comes fully equipped with an HD TV and full cable for rainy nights when you just want to stay in.
Guests may utilize our kitchen and laundry facilities at no extra charge. Food storage is available for both dry and cold goods.
The house is in the northwest corner of Vancouver's Oakridge neighbourhood. Just a few blocks from Shaughnessy and Kerrisdale, our street takes on the feel of those neighbourhoods with large, single family homes with private backyards.
We are just shy of 41st Ave (a major east/west artery in the city. Translink operates frequent bus service on 41st providing quick and easy access to the Canada Line (a 10 minute walk away).
To head downtown guests can use either the Granville St. buses (a major north/south route) or catch the Canada Line from Oakridge Centre. The Canada Line will take you either downtown or to the airport in 10 minutes.
One last thing:
The basement is a typical converted Vancouver basement and has 6.5 ft ceilings.
While guests are invited to enjoy the outdoor patio we wish to respect our neighbours and keep the noise down.
Please enter and exit the property relatively quietly.
No smoking is allowed on the property.
Guests may use the kitchen, but must clean up their dishes and counter immediately following their meal.
Guests may use the clothes washer and dryer, but are asked to not leave laundry sitting in either machine.
Excellent on-street free parking on a quiet block with ease of access to the rest of the city. It's definitely a basement but if you are under 5'6" like me, you'll be fine. If you just need a bed for the night, this is the place -- hassle-free with friendly hosts.
The room is great. Very well furnished, it was like I was renting a whole apartment just for myself. I loved this place so much that I went back again.
The Selkirk residence was lovely! Aaron was kind enough to accommodate my partner and me over the Valentine's day weekend on a last minute request. We has access to the entire bottom floor. It was clean, very spacious, and had everything we needed. The bedroom was beautiful and exactly as advertised. We had a lovely stay. We were fairly close to everything via car. Would absolutely stay here again!
Aaron was incredibly responsive and thoughtful in all of our communication exchange. There is plenty of space for a party of two. Private entry, clean large comfortable bed and bedroom, sitting room, a semi kitchenette, and clean full bathroom. We were greeted with a pure chocolate bar and binder of information and activities upon our arrival. The service we received far exceeds the price we paid. We are very happy with our decision to book our stay with Aaron. The photos and description are a true representation of what you receive.
Con: If any, the ceilings may feel low for anyone taller than 5 feet 8 inches in certain parts of the area.
I booked with Aaron for one of our staff that was visiting Vancouver. He loved it! He felt very welcome in such a short amount of time. We have booked here many times before and will definitely book again!
Great place to stay, very friendly house in a fabulous location.
The room is really spacious with a wonderful cosy feel to it.
Aaron was just there in my first 2 days at his place. However, he did his best to show me everything in the bedroom where I was staying and gave me a lot of hints about nice spots to go in Vancouver. When he was not there, his roommates were as efficient as him and helped me in everything I needed. The space where I stayed is huge with clean linen on the bed, hot water from the bathtub and fresh towels in the bathroom. I am very happy to have chosen Aaron's place for my stay.
From a small town in Nova Scotia and now living in Vancouver. I have travelled to Africa, the Middle East, South America, Asia, and Europe (though it was only a 6 hour tour of London ;) ) Now we are stoked to invite you to come experience Vancouver, BC, Canada!
