About this listing
Casetta is a small studio apartment on the Aventino hill, a few steps from the FAO, the "mouth of truth", Colosseum and the breathtaking Aventino view point. Located on the ground floor of a early 30's building it's made of a entrance with kitchenette, table, wardrobe and a separated sleeping area, divided by a wall.
The bathroom has a large shower and the studio is perfectly equipped for a long stay. Many of the city's most important sights, such as Trastevere, Borgo Pio, Saint Peter Basilica, Vatican Museum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, are all reachable within walking distance or short bus/metro drive. Public transports (trams, trains and buses) are just a block away and there are bus stops in every corner. A train line that will bring you to the airport in 25 minutes is only two blocks away!
Maria's apartment was perfect for me. Within walking distance of the FAO, shops, bars and restaurants. The family was extremely helpful and provided everything I needed.
We were in Rome from 13- 20 of oktober.
We really were shocked when we saw the building in which the flat is situated .The whole building was covered with scaffolds and plastic covers . The flat, which in other times will be ok, was nearly without daylight, and damp. The work, very noisy, began each morning at 8 and lasted the whole day.
We contacted Maria, who didn't know anything about this situation, because she is only the ' guest planner' for the owner..(?)
We didn't find it appropriate, that we weren't informed before about the building activities, in that case we should have chosen to look for something else to rent.
We got a small refund. We had a very lovely week in Rome, beautiful weather, and the Testaccio neighbourhood is quiet and has many good restaurants.
But I will advise others to make very sure that the building activities are finished before renting.
The place is very close to FAO, clean and very nice. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend the place! The house keeper is very responsive. For example, the internet wasn't working one of the days and as soon as I mentioned it to him, he sorted it out. The only down side was that they were doing construction on the building so with the platforms outside the windows there wasn't much light entering the apartment.
A great little spot that is easy walking distance to Pyramide train station, and about 25 mins easy walk to the UN's FAO which overlooks Circus Maximo. Very good internet service, clean and colourful place, comfortable bed! Thanks

About the Host, Maria
I believe that travelling has the power to heal, energize and improve the world, and I’m proud to be a part of this community.
I was born in Rome and raised in Pompeii as both my parents are archaeologists.
I moved back to Rome 15 years ago. My interests are travels, food, photography, foreign languages and my favorite hobby is home design and interior decorating, I enjoy anything creative!
I love Italian, Japanese, Russian and Greek food, I also like to cook.
Travel is definitely my biggest passion and it has taken me and my long time boyfriend Federico to about twenty countries along the five continents.
When I travel, I look for places that are not ultra touristy. I want to experience the restaurants and bars that the locals know and love.
I'm hoping that you seek the same. I can recommend some really cool places and things to see/eat/do if you'd like.
I absolutely love Rome and I am the biggest ambassador for it. I love to welcome people from all over the world to this great city so they can share the love that I have for it as well!
I've had some amazing people from all over the world stay at my place and look forward to hosting you.
See you soon in Rome!
