If you want sightseeing assistance, I am willing to be your tour guide. As most Japanese do not speak English, it can be difficult traveling around Tokyo.
Only 20 min from Tokyo Station. There's a direct bus line from Narita Airport to my area. It is also convenient for central Tokyo. For example, 30 min for Asakusa, Ginza, Tsukiji, Tokyo Sky Tree and Odaiba. 40 min for Shinjuku, Shibuya and Roppongi.
Taiga is a very friendly host. Japanese hospitality is even more concrete in his service and willing to help. He also speaks great English, helping us to get more and more Tokyo Banana...
About the place, its very near to Disney Resort, only 10 mins driving. And the house is really comfy. Flexible one to two beds bedroom, big bathroom, kitchen and dining room, feels like home.
I had the pleasure of spending a week with Taiga and his lovely mother, Yoko. It was the Japanese experience that I was looking for: Living with a local family in the outskirts of Tokyo; Learning the culture from a local and discovering the tastes of everyday Japanese foods. They were able to advise me on the best ways to get around, where to eat and what to buy. Everything is written in a foreign language and very little English.
I had my own Western style bed, which was very comfortable, clean sheets and towels were supplied. My room was very spacious, which was a surprise as most Japanese rooms are very tiny.
I was given room in their refrigerator for my cold foods and I was able to use the kitchen when I needed to cook. Yoko cooked amazing breakfasts, and showed me how to eat the foods in a respectful Japanese way. I was also able to join in their night meal as well.
They supplied a shelf in the bathroom for my toiletries. There is a toilet downstairs and also another upstairs. The bathroom has a Japanese style shower and a bath (they call a hot-tub), which is good to have a relaxing soak in after a big day of sightseeing.
Taiga made sure that I could find my way easily to and from Disneysea and Disneyland. They printed the bus timetable for me. The bus stop is only a short 5 minutes walk from his home and the bus took only 10 minutes to reach the train station and then only one stop to arrive at the two Disney worlds. On returning: from the bus stop directions to his house, are so easy...follow the pine trees around the local school, turn right, walk to end of street, turn left and the house is on the left. I felt safe walking home alone at night as the streets are well lit. Be aware there are no street signs to direct you.
Taiga was my tour guide for a day in Tokyo. It was very comforting to have a local with me as I found it difficult to understand the language. Being such a huge city we didn't waste time getting lost, so I was lucky to enjoy more time at my chosen destinations. If you are like me and need help, take the opportunity of having Taiga as your tour guide!
Both Taiga and Yoko made my stay comfortable and I felt as if I was part of the family. If I return to Japan, I will stay with them again, and I definitely recommend them to other travelers.
Thank you so much.
Love to you both.
