Vallon Cottage is a large, beautiful two-bedroomed cottage built on the side of a steep valley in the pretty village of Youlgrave in north Derbyshire. It has sweeping views of hills, fields and forests that are typical of the Peak District, one of the most visited national parks in the world.
Parking is on the road outside the cottage.
The stone cottage dates back to the mid 19th century and has two double bedrooms with their own bathrooms, you will wake up to birdsong and beautiful views from the bedroom window. Beds have down duvets and beautiful linen from India. One bed has a memory foam mattress, the other has a memory foam topper. There are two sitting rooms, one with a log burner and one that's light and airy with a high pitched ceiling. There is an excellent music collection and many dvd's, games and jigsaws. There are also a good collection of walking books and maps to help you navigate the area. A well equipped kitchen with a Smeg oven and Bosch dishwasher. Dining is either in the conservatory or outside on the terrace, where the river Bradford can be heard flowing below in the valley bottom. The garden is full of flowers in the summer and has stunning views all year round.
A utility room comes with a washing machine, tumble dryer and airer.
Vallon is full of character with its thick walls and interesting shapes, it's decorated to make you feel at home, with linens and rugs from India and original artwork.
There are many wonderful walks straight from the door and mountain biking and climbing close by. In Youlgrave there are three traditional Derbyshire pubs along with two shops and a post office.
Vallon Cottage has a calming effect on all who know it. In sunshine or snow, its charm and uniqueness are sure to make your stay in the Peak District memorable. I do supply towels and most other essentials are included, t towels, washing up liquid, shower gel, tea, coffee and milk in the fridge for your arrival. Bring your slippers as its an old house :)
You have access to the whole cottage apart from a few cupboards that are locked and contain private belongings.

Youlgrave is a very pretty village in the Peak District. Close to Bakewell, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House and may other attractions.

Other Things to Note
Youlgrave is a wonderful village and very friendly. There are often plays or events happening so have a look at the notice board on the garage doors on the left as you walk down the road towards the Farmyard Inn. Papers are not available anymore in the village shop but can be found in Bakewell a 10 minute drive away. Parking is on the road outside the cottage and sometimes you may return to Vallon to find your parking place has been taken, often this is only temporary because we have a lot of visiting walkers to the village. At these time please park in the little car park 2 minutes up the road, there isnt a cost for people staying in the village.
No smoking anywhere in the house but you are welcome to smoke outside and please dispose of the cigarette ends in the bin, thank you.
Please leave the house tidy and clean, I do have cleaners to make sure everything is wonderful for your arrival so please look after the house while you are staying :)
Well behaved dogs who live with sensible owners are occasionally allowed to stay, please enquire.
Please water the outside plants if it is warm, thanks:)
