We had an excellent experience in Sakhi's apt. It was just as pictured (minus the guitar), Clean, Comfortable and Convenient for our trip. All the appliances were modern and well-maintained. It was a bit of a hike to the metro (as Sakhi had warned), but city busses and bikeshare were only 2 blocks away. We enjoyed being in the NW neighborhood and felt perfectly safe.
We never met Sakhi, but he checked in via email, and we wouldn't have hesitated calling him if we had needed to. It was nice to come & go as we pleased, without bothering others, and after days spent in the busy, noisy downtown, it was great to come "home" to a quiet neighborhood and comfy nest.
We had a wonderful stay at Sakhi's Luraloft apartment! The unit was incredibly and cozy (and clean!) and it really felt like home during our week long stay in DC. We did a combination of walking, biking, driving, and using the Metro to get around. It took us about 45 minutes to bike to the National Mall, about 15 minutes to drive, and about 20 minutes to walk to the nearest Metro station. The location was convenient, safe, and we never had any trouble parking during the day and at night. Sakhi did a wonderful job answering all my questions and quickly responded to messages from my husband and I before and throughout our stay. He even left us some simple breakfast items which was a great way to get us started. Having access to a full kitchen with all the necessary utensils was also invaluable and saved us quite a bit of money during our stay! Overall we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay with Sakhi again if we were ever in the area again.
My colleague has stated that he and his wife enjoyed staying at Sakhi's place. Also, he is a great host.
The flat is exactly as described. Warm, cosy and very comfortable. Everything is super clean. Sakhi was kind enough to provide more than enough things for breakfast, including fresh fruit.
As stated in the listing the walk to the metro is twenty minutes. The neighbourhood is quiet, with families. Shops/places to eat are not, I don't think, too near, also about twenty minutes.
All in all, highly recommended!
A great host friendly and welcoming, he give us our space , and we didn't feel guest at all.
My personal vote if I have to will be a 10
I stayed with Sakhi from May 24th till June 29th and enjoyed my stay the entire time.the place was clean and as advertised. He and his girlfriend were great hosts as well. I will certainly stay with them again.
The apartment is a beauty, loved everything about it. It boasts all mod cons for a convenient stay. The host was very friendly and helpful- having informed about the purpose of my trip to attend a conference in DC, the host prepared a journey itinerary to the venue I was travelling to. Though the venue was a bit far, the travel options were quite convenient. The apartment is located in a residential area so I felt safe even while returning late at night.

I'm a long-time D.C. resident. I've lived out west, Arizona, California and also abroad and I've enjoyed visiting places in the Caribbean like the Great Exumas, St. Lucia, Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, St. John, the Bahamas. I've also travelled to African countries like South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland. I've been described as the easy-going, laid-back type. But when stuff needs to get done, I'm on it. I'm into all music & enjoy art, different cultures, & different foods.
