Please Contact Host prior to sending a reservation request This is a older funky 1BR 1bath full kitchen detached house. It is as eclectic as its Mesa beach area neighborhood close to the harbor, downtown and the Funk Zone.
This house is 550 sq ft and perfect for 1 or 2 people. The house is older, not fancy and priced accordingly compared to similar properties in the area. It has a full kitchen, bath with a full size tub/shower, living room plus a dining area. There is a private patio off the kitchen and small back yard off the bedroom. The yard/patio is enclosed. It is a perfect place if you enjoy indoor/outdoor living.
The immediate area is densely populated with houses and apartment buildings close by.
Non destructive potty trained pets are accepted on a case by case basis and can be discussed prior to booking.
The patio is a great place to have coffee or dine al fresco. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare your bounty from the local farmer's or fisherman’s markets and included a vintage gas stove, full size refrigerator, microwave, cookware, utensils, good knives and all the basics for cooking. There is a natural gas Weber Silver BBQ for your use. There is a ceiling fan in the dining room. Feel free to use anything from the well-stocked cabinets of spices and basics or the little herb garden. There is a French press, drip or stove top espresso pot with coffee and tea stocked as well as some basic breakfast items.
The bed is a queen size pillow top and very comfortable. The mattress is encased with a hypo allergenic and bed bug barrier, towels and sheets are 100% cotton and are of high quality and thread count. The down comforters are encased in fresh white cotton duvets. Please let me know if you are allergic to feathers and I will provide alternative bedding and pillows.
I have a small section of the closet for some of my things, but there is plenty of room for hanging cloths and storing suitcases and the armoire has space for folded items.
Other basics include beach towels, iron and board, hair dryer and umbrellas.
The French doors in the bedroom open to the back yard. In the morning you can hear the waves if the surf is up, the fog horn and the seals from the 1 mile buoy. The Mesa has many surf spots and places to stand-up paddle (board and kayak rentals at the harbor). Additionally, there is wireless internet and cable TV (in the bedroom). A CD/Radio/iphone (4) player is located in the living room.
I hope you enjoy my beach shack as much as I do.
This is a free standing, no common walls home with off street parking.

All the other reviews are right on; this is a very nice place to stay. Liz is genuine, helpful and friendly. In addition, she made a special trip back to bring us a different bike. Since we love plants and walks, she gave us good ideas like the botanical gardens and other outdoor spaces as well as a quick overview of how to get around. The house was clean and fun and well-equipped with a very comfy bed, a wonderful place to hang out. Thanks for all the good info, Liz!
This was our second stay, and Liz and Harry's place ranks among our favorite spots for a laid-back vacation. Lush garden, comfortable bed, well-stocked kitchen. In walking or short-drive proximity to everything in Santa Barbara. Favorite walk-to spots: sunsets at Shoreline Park, and campus of Santa Barbara City College, for ocean views and lattes at the student cafe.
Harry and Liz were wonderful hosts. They were great at communication and helping with any recommendations we needed. The house is in the PERFECT location. 5 minutes from everything, which I love. The backyard made the house, it was so wonderful to cook on Valentine's and just sit outside and enjoy it. We would defiantly stay here or recommend this bungalow to anyone!!! Thank you again :)
Liz and Harry were great hosts. Liz met us and gave us a complete description of the property as well as left us with written information about the area. She left us a bottle of wine and her place was stocked with everything you would need for a short stay. The place was just what we were looking for. We especially loved the outdoor area to hang out and have cocktails and dinner. I wish we could have stayed longer!
We enjoyed our week at Liz and Harry's beach house. It was just what we were looking for. The location was perfect...a short walk to the grocery store, the beach and we even walked to downtown Santa Barbara. Liz met us and gave us a tour of the house and shared some tips and suggestions to make our stay perfect. Of course the bottle of wine that she had waiting for us was appreciated and welcomed especially after our flight from the east coast. The house was was just as advertised...perfect for the two of us! We especially liked having our coffee outside in the morning and enjoying the California sunshine!!

Harry and I are native Santa Barbarians and grew up in the same sand box (Mesa Lane beach). I am a Registered Nurse, but travel via land and air to monitor clinical trials. Harry has been a commercial fisherman/diver for over 20 years which has taken him all over the pacific coast and Alaska. Sometimes I can spot him heading to the islands from my plane departing Santa Barbara.
We both love the outdoors and when we travel have stayed in many vacation homes from rustic huts in the jungle, to modern houses on the sand and enjoy being able to cook a meal when we want. Location is what is important to us and we look forward to being Airbnb guests in the near future.
For the past 8 years we have been living together in 2 separate houses. Not conventional, but it works for us. We both love our homes. We have tried renting one or the other out at different times, but Airbnb seems to the best option to share our homes, but keep them too.
