*Airbnb has notified all Washington DC hosts that, based on an agreement with DC city authorities, as of February 15th, 2015 Airbnb will be required to charge a lodging or hotel tax of 14.5% on the price of all short-term accommodation. This tax is over and above the prices quoted below and will be collected by Airbnb at the time of booking.
I regret the implementation of this additional tax but feel I should let you know that my rates have not changed in the last five years.
The daily price for one guest is $85.
The daily price for two guests is $97.
The daily price for three guests is $109.
If you are three guests, this bedroom is large enough to receive you. A child or additional adult can sleep on the comfortable, single Aerobed. The Aerobed, its bedding, additional towels and breakfast are gladly provided.
The weekly rate is a simple multiple of the daily rate.
PROCEDURE: Please contact host before booking. Post a recognizable picture and a profile, and send me any question you have and I'll respond promptly. Once you're decided, then click the "Book It" link.
LISTING SPECIFICS: This listing is for rental of the one large bedroom and private bath shown in the pictures, and not of the entire apartment. Pictures of the apartment give you a good sense of the whole environment. The shared, open-plan dining area & kitchen contain a sizable fridge, microwave, four-slice toaster, electric kettle, and rice cooker and are available for breakfast and meals, though not full, hot meals cooked on-site. A nice continental breakfast of cereals, toast, spreads, and coffee & tea is included. Our water is Brita-filtered, so bring your reusable water bottle!
Air conditioning is fully operational during summer months and heating is ample in winter.
LOCATION: Part of Logan and Downtown, the neighborhood is central, animated, and safe - a few blocks to hip 14th Street, a very pleasant walk to U Street or Dupont Circle, and less than a five minute walk to the Washington DC Convention Center.
Whole Foods Market, Capitol Market, Giant, Trader Joe's, a 24-hour Safeway, as well as several CVS, Starbucks, Caribou, and craft-coffee shops are all located within walking distance.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Lots of great public transport nearby. Three different Metrorail stops, as well as Metrobus and Circulator bus stops are all within blocks. The closest Metrorail stop is only three blocks away.
BIKE RENTAL LOCATIONS NEARBY: After your booking is confirmed I'll point out all of these & many other neighborhood amenities.
CAR SHARE SERVICES:
In case you need to drive a car for just a few hours, DC has two good car-share services: Zip Car and Car2Go.
If you choose Car2Go, create a membership BEFORE you get here. They have to approve your license, and they often have promotions that waive the one-time fee. You do need a smartphone to find the cars. Parking is free in Car2Go parking spots anywhere in DC -- and you can end your car trip and walk away, leaving a Car2Go or Zip Car in many locations, some not far from the house.
Please internet-search either or both of them for details if you're interested in this option.
PARKING: If you'll be driving your own or a rental car, there are reasonably priced parking lots nearby.
IN WALKING DISTANCE: You really are in the center of everything here. Walk to the White House and the National Mall, and to many culture and entertainment venues; more than 25 cinema / movie screens, numerous museums, such as the Air and Space, the Natural History Museum, the American History Museum, the International Spy Museum, the National Gallery of Art, the Hirshhorn & Sculpture Garden, the Museum of the American Indian, the Museum of African Art, the Sackler and Freer, (most all Smithsonian Museums!), the National Building Museum, the Newseum, Penn Quarter & Chinatown, and lots and lots of restaurants - from Indian, Ethiopian, Chinese & Thai, Spanish, Italian, American & French, sushi, burgers, pizza & subs - to hip venues like Busboys & Poets, Churchkey, Bar Pilar, El Centro DF, Cafe Saint Ex, Marvin, the Gibson, and lots of fine dining too - it's all yours.
Numerous theatres, including the Ford, the Studio, the Source, the Shakespeare, the Woolly Mammoth, the National, and the Warner are all a stroll away. The Verizon Center for sports fans, bowling and bookstores, the National Geographic Society, and much more - all a walk away!
Please send an initial inquiry before booking.
We both want your stay to be extra successful, so let's fully communicate with each other at the outset.
Just to clarify -- this is not a rental of the entire apartment, but of one large bedroom and private bath, with reasonable use of the kitchen and dining area. The open-plan kitchen/dining area is available for breakfast (provided by host) and snacks or meals (provided by guests), though not for full, hot meals cooked on-site.
We expect to receive friendly and responsible guests, who treat the apartment as if it were their own and leave it in the condition they found it in. No loud music allowed after 11.00 PM. No parties, overnight guests, smoking or pets.
Type in the number of guests and your dates, and the site will calculate the cost of your entire stay. The weekly rate is seven times the daily rate.
When I'm out of town, you're welcome to make use of the larger, common area. When I'm in DC I'll be occupying the second bedroom/office and second bath, but the bedrooms are at opposite ends of the flat, and everyone enjoys his/her privacy.
I highly appreciate considerate guests and really want you to have a great visit to DC!
This is the second time I've stayed with Serge. I cannot say enough good things about this property. It looks exactly as presented in the description. It is bright, airy, immaculately clean, very welcoming, has everything you need to be very comfortable. The apt has a terrific location in the heart of DC. It is close to Metro and all sightseeing. If I have to attend my conference again next year, I will want to stay here again.
Great flat, exactly as described. The room is very spacious and nice to stay in, and offers some beautiful late afternoon sun. I didn't get to meet Serge in person but throughout numerous emails he was incredibly helpful and friendly throughout.
Fantastic location easy walking distance into town. However make sure you use the reference details sent to you by Serge to find it on arrival - my (website hidden) maps seemed to have problems with the address.
Thank you for your positive review, Val, you were an ideal guest!
Perhaps your app was confused because the NW at the end of the street address was left off?
Washington is divided into four quadrants and if one omits the NW at the end of our street name -- other, similar addresses in the other three quadrants pop up.
We used Serge's place for a long weekend in DC and were very pleased with it. We had the place to ourselves as Serge was out of town, but he made sure we got settled in and provided background info on the area ahead of time. The room was very clean and well organized. The house had easy accessible to the convention center with just a short walk. We loved the area, felt very safe and could walk to a bunch of restaurants, the metro and other activities.
Although I did not meet Serge during my stay he was extremely helpful and attentive in providing instructions and comprehensive tips on what to do and (importantly) where to eat. The room was beautiful and very comfortable and ideally located for my trip. The neighborhood had quite a variety of restaurants ranging from an El Salvadorian "hole in the wall" to more typical fare. Thanks Serge!
The best Airbnb experience we've had! Serge's apartment is very beautiful, well decorated, and perfectly located! It's close to everything - one can basically walk to those tourist spots, but what's better, take uberX and each ride costs you less than $10. We were lucky to have met Serge in person, and he's so nice and helpful. Serge also generously provided sufficient food (milk, toast, cereal, all kinds of spread, etc.), though we bought our own at Capitol Supermarket just around the corner. All in all, we recommend Serge's place, and will definitely stay here again!
What an amazing location! The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. There was fresh fruit, breakfast options, and coffee too, which was a very nice perk! Serge provided an extensive list of places to eat in the neighborhood; the neighborhood is booming with places! It was close to everything; I walked everywhere I needed to go. Unfortunately, I did not meet my gracious host until the last night I was there.
We unfortunately did not get to meet Serge in person but he kept in contact and made our stay feel welcome. He is an extremely thoughtful host and made an effort to get to know our interests so that we would enjoy our time in Washington. The place was beautiful, well kept and transport was easily accessible. Thank you so much for having us!
