Interaction with Guests
We will be present when the guest(s) arrives and make sure they are settled in comfortably. If we do leave town during their stay, our son lives two houses away from us and will be available to provide what is needed or answer any questions.
We will provide sightseeing information for our guests. With our full kitchen, if there are any additional cooking utensils or equipment that are needed, the guests have only to let us know; we will be happy to furnish them with whatever they need. We have compiled "Guide to Memphis" with all our personal recommendations on restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, etc. We've also included loads of brochures and maps!
Our neighborhood is one of the most beautiful in Memphis. It is sought after as a place of residence by people who have lived in Memphis all their lives and by newcomers as well. It is resplendent with big, old trees. Our street, Madison Avenue, has bike lanes as well. The Carriage House is only four blocks from an old growth forest which offers hiking and biking. In this park, (Overton Park) is the Memphis Zoo, and the Brooks Art Gallery and Memphis College of Art.
Depending on the time of year, free outdoor concerts are offered at the Levitt
Shell located in the park. Two block west is Overton Square which is two blocks of restaurants, music venues, three theatres, shops,a yoga studio, and a cinema.
We are four miles from Beale Street and Downtown Memphis and about eight miles from Graceland.
Public transit is available but not as convenient as we would like. We do have a bus schedule on hand if you want to use the buses. If you need taxi service, let us know and we will give you the name of a very dependable driver. Many restaurants and entertainment spots are within walking distance.

Rebecca and Jim's carriage house is like something out of a storybook! So cute and charming! Would stay again in a heartbeat. Our hosts were very warm and welcoming. We very much appreciated the basket full of goodies left for us. :) The carriage house is within walking distance to cute shops and restaurants. Overall located in a very nice neighborhood!
When I walked into Rebecca and Jim’s Midtown Carriage House I immediately thought, “I’ve lucked out!!!” and after getting to spend more time with them, I felt my good luck even stronger. I didn’t want to leave at all; it was such a perfect stay. It’s rare to meet hosts and become friends with them. I enjoyed their company immensely. I hope to return and spend more time with Rebecca and Jim and to stay in their relaxing, roomy, quiet, visually pleasing property again. I wish all airbnb properties were like this one.
Be sure to spend time outside on your private deck and also enjoy their beautiful garden that surrounds the carriage house.
You will find out the many reasons why they are super hosts!
We were delighted to stay at the Midtown Carriage House! This location is perfect for a visit to Memphis...located within walking distance to great food, drink and nightlife, yet secluded, quiet and private. Rebecca greeted us warmly and was a gracious host. We hope to stay with Jim and Rebecca again when we are in Memphis.
The carraige house is a wonderful place to stay.....warm, welcoming, decorated in Jim and Rebecca's own artwork. an easy walk to Overton Square and a short drive to most other places we visited in Memphis. Very homey and comfortable...perfect!
Jim and Rebecca's carriage house is my home away from home on my monthly visits to Memphis. But, shhhh, don't spoil it for me.
We got a warm welcome from Jim and Rebecca and everything was ready for our first evening and our first morning. The neighbourhood was quiet and charming and the porch is an awesome place where to relax.
The location is central (we were really close ( 10 min max by car) to the places that we wanted to visit which are Graceland, Sun, Stax, Fedex Forum, Civil Rights Museum , the Zoo).
Regarding the house, I have absolutely no criticisms, the listing is accurate and the bed are very good.
Thanks again for this lovely stay.

We have enjoyed "retooling" this space which Rebecca used as a studio and making it into a comfortable and charming residence. We are both artists, so the house is filled with our original paintings and photography. We love traveling, especially to urban locations. Rebecca paints and I take pictures. However, we love staying at home, too. Our Midtown location is only two blocks from restaurants, theaters, cinema, very close to an old growth forest park We are surrounded by tree lined streets and older homes like ours.
