The Space

The high, beamed ceiling lends a spacious feeling to the apartment. It is beautifully decorated with original art work and vibrant colors. In addition to the king size bed, there is also a pull out sofa that sleeps one. We also have plenty of floor space for our queen size air mattress. The deck in the New Orleans-style courtyard in the back offers privacy and is appealingly landscaped. It is only four blocks from an old growth forest park which offers hiking and biking and, depending on the time of year, free outdoor concerts in beautiful surroundings.

Guest Access

plenty of safe on-street parking, hairdryer, ironing board and iron, complimentary toilitries, front and back patios, hammock, above ground fish pond, beautiful garden.

Interaction with Guests

We will be present when the guest(s) arrives and make sure they are settled in comfortably. If we do leave town during their stay, our son lives two houses away from us and will be available to provide what is needed or answer any questions.
We will provide sightseeing information for our guests. With our full kitchen, if there are any additional cooking utensils or equipment that are needed, the guests have only to let us know; we will be happy to furnish them with whatever they need. We have compiled "Guide to Memphis" with all our personal recommendations on restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, etc. We've also included loads of brochures and maps!

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is one of the most beautiful in Memphis. It is sought after as a place of residence by people who have lived in Memphis all their lives and by newcomers. It is resplendent with big, old trees, a beautiful park, restaurants, theaters, a cinema, and bike lanes.

Getting around

Public transit is available but not as convenient as we would like. We do have a bus schedule on hand if you want to use the buses. If you need taxi service, let us know and we will give you the name of a very dependable driver. Many restaurants and entertainment spots are within walking distance.

Other Things to Note

There will be a $100.00 security deposit required upon making reservations. There will be a $30.00 cleaning fee as well. If the guest has a pet, we will require a $50.00 non-refundable pet fee. The guest MUST have our approval before bringing a pet. Certain breeds are not permitted.
We have what we think is a very helpful guidebook to Memphis which we have personally compiled. It contains suggestions for entertainment, shopping, restaurants, and brochures which will be very helpful in planning your itinerary.
We provide toilettries, hairdryer, and curling iron.
A fruit basket complete with homemade banana-nut bread is awaiting your arrival. The refrigerator
will be stocked with bagels, cream cheese, orange juice, and milk. There is coffee and tea provided also.
We want to do everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
Please sign our guest book before leaving.

  • Beautiful home and setting. The garden area in the front was so nice and peaceful. The carriage house is in a great historical neighborhood and it was just what we were looking for. Close to a huge park which was a nice walk in the morning. Also close to some great restaurants. We highly recommend Jim and Rebecca's place if you looking for a place in Memphis. Very clean, comfortable and spacious. Oh not to mention the wonderful homemade banana bread and fruit left for us.

  • My husband, 5 year old daughter and I had a wonderful stay at the Jim and Rebecca's Midtown Carriage House. Jim and Rebecca are conscientious and responsive hosts and everything was just as we expected it to be. The carriage house is in a great location; it's in a quiet, pretty neighborhood within a short walking distance to several restaurants and very close to the Memphis Zoo. It was also just a 15 minute drive from the other locations we visited - Graceland, Rock N Soul Museum and the National Civil Rights Museum. We loved sitting at the back deck, watching fireflies at the day's end. We would definitely recommend the carriage house for your stay in Memphis!

  • My husband and I were only in Memphis for 1 night and Jim and Rebecca's guest house is situated in a nice neighborhood in town. They were also nice enough to accommodate our dog. It was a short ride to the attractions like Graceland and Sun Records. At the end of the street you can literally run into the Mississippi River. The guest house is surrounded by their yard which is beautifully gardened.

  • Jim & Rebecca were lovely. They met us upon arrival and welcomed us to the carriage house, with a basket of homemade banana bread, fresh fruit, and other items appropriate for breakfast. The neighborhood and location was unbeatable!
I walked in the morning to the park which hosts evening concerts, a golf course, and a museum, among other things. In addition, there were numerous restaurants, shops, and even a movie theater very close by. The accommodations were comfortable and quaint, including a private deck off the back of the place.

  • Jim & Rebecca were wonderful, they contacted me to make arrangements to meet to get the key and were flexible with our arrival time. This is exactly what my mom and I wanted for our quick girls trip to memphis. Location is perfect, central to downtown (beale street, peabody hotel, etc) and the zoo, pink palace, etc. The carriage house is just a few blocks away (0.4 miles) from overton square which has shops and restaurants which we enjoyed. The house was great, good space, and Jim and Rebecca left some fruit, milk, juice, banana bread, cereal, bagels and cream cheese for us for breakfast. There was also tea and coffee, etc. The fridge has basic condiments. The carriage house feels very homey and would be great for a short or long stay. We highly recommend this for your trip to Memphis!

  • The Midtown Carriage House was a perfect place to stay in Memphis - cool, comfortable and convenient. We had so much space and privacy, great access to Overton Park for morning runs and Cooper Young for shopping/eating. We loved our stay here. As if the cloud-like King bed and private deck weren't enough, our hosts Jim and Rebecca were lovely, charming people. When I'm next in Memphis, I hope I get to stay here again.

  • Rebecca is so wonderful. I lost my husband three years ago and I am struggling to find my way. Rebecca is kind and compassionate. The Carriage House is great. So very comfortable and welcoming. The claw foot tub has painted toe nails. Rebecca and Jim are both artists so everything is artistically appointed. I would highly recumbent this place to all.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Midtown Carriage House. Jim and Rebecca were wonderful hosts... giving us advice on places to visit and restaurants in the area. When we arrived there was fresh fruit and banana bread waiting for us in a basket. The house was clean and welcoming. About
We have enjoyed "retooling" this space which Rebecca used as a studio and making it into a comfortable and charming residence. We are both artists, so the house is filled with our original paintings and photography. We love traveling, especially to urban locations. Rebecca paints and I take pictures. However, we love staying at home, too. Our Midtown location is only two blocks from restaurants, theaters, cinema, very close to an old growth forest park We are surrounded by tree lined streets and older homes like ours.
