We will be present when the guest(s) arrives and make sure they are settled in comfortably. If we do leave town during their stay, our son lives two houses away from us and will be available to provide what is needed or answer any questions.
We will provide sightseeing information for our guests. With our full kitchen, if there are any additional cooking utensils or equipment that are needed, the guests have only to let us know; we will be happy to furnish them with whatever they need. We have compiled "Guide to Memphis" with all our personal recommendations on restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, etc. We've also included loads of brochures and maps!
Our neighborhood is one of the most beautiful in Memphis. It is sought after as a place of residence by people who have lived in Memphis all their lives and by newcomers as well. It is resplendent with big, old trees. Our street, Madison Avenue, has bike lanes as well. The Carriage House is only four blocks from an old growth forest which offers hiking and biking. In this park, (Overton Park) is the Memphis Zoo, and the Brooks Art Gallery and Memphis College of Art.
Depending on the time of year, free outdoor concerts are offered at the Levitt
Shell located in the park. Two block west is Overton Square which is two blocks of restaurants, music venues, three theatres, shops,a yoga studio, and a cinema.
We are four miles from Beale Street and Downtown Memphis and about eight miles from Graceland.
Public transit is available but not as convenient as we would like. We do have a bus schedule on hand if you want to use the buses. If you need taxi service, let us know and we will give you the name of a very dependable driver. Many restaurants and entertainment spots are within walking distance.

Jim and Rebecca were such lovely hosts and what a great place it is to stay. Very comfortable with everything that we could need in a great part of town. Would highly recommend. Thank you!!
Our trip was a brief one night but even though our stay was short I can tell you that this place is a great place to stay. The location is perfect for a quick run to the park or some fun downtown which is like 5 mi away. The hosts were very accomodating, there was a little goodie basket, and Rebecca was great with prompt communication. The property is beautiful and I love the porch off the back. Would definitely prefer to stay here then any hotel in Memphis.
Beautiful little carriage house in a very smart suburb of Memphis; Jim and Rebecca live next door (I guess this used to be their garage, though you wouldn't know it...), but didn't bother us at all. The bed was comfortable, the house a nice size with choice of patios, and we had a chance to use the heating AND the air conditioning, both of which worked just fine.
The only improvement we'd suggest (and this isn't the only place we've found this across the USA), is that the kitchen may be full of gadgets, but it's actually quite difficult to cook properly: not enough knives (and then they tend to be blunt), in this case not enough saucepans to cook pasta and a sauce at the same time.
Small details, but with them in place, a charming stay would have been an almost perfect one...!
Jim and Rebecca's carriage house was fantastic, even better than we had expected. The big, comfy bed was exactly what we needed, and all the other amenities were top notch, including the personal guide book which was great. Getting to downtown was less than $10 with Uber and there's plenty to explore more locally than that. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Memphis.
Jim and Rebecca were fantastic hosts. They called to confirm arrival arrangements in advance and were very welcoming in person. The house was just perfect for us, was surprisingly spacious and was airy with a very comfortable bed. We arrived to find a welcome basket which was very thoughtful. Our toddler loved exploring the flowers in the garden and felt very at home. Location was great, with a short drive from many family orientated attractions and a short walk to Overton Square, with plenty of bars and restaurants. In part due to our experience here, Memphis was one of the highlights of a 2-week road trip.
The Midtown Carriage house was ever thing and more then anyone could ask for. We were greeted by Rebecca on are arrival, and she made us feel more that welcome as she showed us the house. The basket of fruit and goodies welcome you to home and the back porch is perfect for little retreat. The location was perfect, close to anything you needed, within walking distance of midtown and the park. We hope to be able to stay again!!!!
Rebecca and Jim's carriage house is like something out of a storybook! So cute and charming! Would stay again in a heartbeat. Our hosts were very warm and welcoming. We very much appreciated the basket full of goodies left for us. :) The carriage house is within walking distance to cute shops and restaurants. Overall located in a very nice neighborhood!

About the Host, Jim And Rebecca
We have enjoyed "retooling" this space which Rebecca used as a studio and making it into a comfortable and charming residence. We are both artists, so the house is filled with our original paintings and photography. We love traveling, especially to urban locations. Rebecca paints and I take pictures. However, we love staying at home, too. Our Midtown location is only two blocks from restaurants, theaters, cinema, very close to an old growth forest park We are surrounded by tree lined streets and older homes like ours.
