In addition to the king size bed, there is also a pull out sofa that sleeps one. We also have plenty of floor space for our queen size air mattress. The deck in the New Orleans-style courtyard in the back offers privacy and is appealingly landscaped. It is only four blocks from an old growth forest park which offers hiking and biking and, depending on the time of year, free outdoor concerts in beautiful surroundings.
plenty of safe on-street parking, hairdryer, ironing board and iron, complimentary toilitries, front and back patios, hammock, above ground fish pond, beautiful garden.
Interaction with Guests
We will be present when the guest(s) arrives and make sure they are settled in comfortably. If we do leave town during their stay, our son lives two houses away from us and will be available to provide what is needed or answer any questions.
We will provide sightseeing information for our guests. With our full kitchen, if there are any additional cooking utensils or equipment that are needed, the guests have only to let us know; we will be happy to furnish them with whatever they need. We have compiled "Guide to Memphis" with all our personal recommendations on restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, etc. We've also included loads of brochures and maps!
Our neighborhood is one of the most beautiful in Memphis. It is sought after as a place of residence by people who have lived in Memphis all their lives and by newcomers. It is resplendent with big, old trees, a beautiful park, restaurants, theaters, a cinema, and bike lanes.
Public transit is available but not as convenient as we would like. We do have a bus schedule on hand if you want to use the buses. If you need taxi service, let us know and we will give you the name of a very dependable driver. Many restaurants and entertainment spots are within walking distance.

Fantastic stay! The carriage house was warm and inviting. The artwork on the walls was a nice personal touch. The welcome basket was a nice touch! The bed was super comfortable. Great location. If we ever come back (and I hope we do!), I will keep this place in mind.
We LOVED the Carriage House! Thank you Jim & Rebecca for everything. They are welcoming hosts who greeted us on arrival and had small snacks & breakfast items ready in the house. The Carriage House is both classy & cozy with all of the amenities you need and want. The location in Midtown is fantastic for Memphis explorations. We can't imagine staying anywhere else!
I had a great experience at Jim and Rebecca's carriage house. They were very kind and welcoming and always responded quickly and helpfully to my questions. The space is perfect for one or two people, and I especially liked the huge bed and the clawfoot tub. Since I stayed for several weeks, I appreciated being able to do my laundry in their basement, and I only wish the weather had allowed me to make more use of the lovely outdoor space. The neighborhood is very pretty and is one of the few in Memphis that is easy to negotiate on foot, with plenty of nearby restaurants, theaters, pharmacies and a Fresh Market. Also, Overton Park is within easy walking distance. Recommended!
My Wife and I had a great stay here.
The cottage was very inviting, very comfortable bed.
My wife loved the clawfoot bathtub.
I loved that there was a nice size tv with full channels and a dvr.
I was able to record an event I had wanted to see and watched it later while my wife had a nap.
Milk in the fridge for coffee, bagles, orange juice and fruit. it was nice to have that after a long flight.
The location was only minutes from Beal street and near another food/bar, (the name escapes me) area that we will go to next time we are in Memphis.
Jim and Rebecca were very gracious and made us feel at home we will return.
When we arrived in Memphis Jim met us and showed us the carriage house. In addition there was a loose leaf binder with lots of Memphis information. Jim also recommended several very good restaurants, we tried some and they were all very good. The carriage house was as advertised and a very comfortable stay in Memphis
My second stay with Rebecca & Jim and I have indeed found a home away from home for my regular visits to Memphis. I only hope their place doesn't get so popular that I can't book it. I'll be booking early for my next trip:)

We have enjoyed "retooling" this space which Rebecca used as a studio and making it into a comfortable and charming residence. We are both artists, so the house is filled with our original paintings and photography. We love traveling, especially to urban locations. Rebecca paints and I take pictures. However, we love staying at home, too. Our Midtown location is only two blocks from restaurants, theaters, cinema, very close to an old growth forest park We are surrounded by tree lined streets and older homes like ours.
