Hi. I have the small charmed rm in a 3 bedrm home available for 1 person. The decor is funky and bohemian (shabby chic) located the Bay View District of San Francisco. House has wood/tile floors, fireplace, laundry on-site, living rm, dining rm, big kitchen, backyard. The neighborhood is ghettofabulous/urban and very close to many bus lines, both freeways and the T Railcar Line (right outside the house) to Downtown, Union Square, Market St. Corridor and the Financial District. Our neighborhood is active and full of colorful characters (including a daily old school sidewalk poker/domino game), has some of the best soul food around, relatively easy parking, boasts one of the City's Premier Community Gardens (Quesada Gardens Initiative) and is a 10 min. drive to SFO. If you are renting monthly there is a $85 charge 2x's per month (not included in the automatic pricing) for our great housekeeper. We have a very well behaved hypo allergenic non shedding Standard Poodle (service Animal) and smoking is permitted by the back kitchen door. We are lively, creative, hardworking individuals with healthy lifestyles and no partying at the house. The other room mates are very responsible chill people. Come visit!
Hi. Non smoking except by back kitchen door. Please be respectful of others clean up after yourself (rinse out shower/bath when finished, clean up and put away your dishes, consume your own food/beverages, use only your own computer/devices, wipe down counter tops after use, take out trash if it is full...) Basic nice civility. Be aware of locking doors and if you come in late be noise respectful, please. Thank you.
All you need to know is that Carla is an incredible host! She is kind, loving and makes sure you feel at home. She picked me up from the airport the day I arrived and I can't thank her enough. She also responds quickly to any questions or needs that you may have.
The house is beautiful, well maintained and the room is just so cozy! The place is surprisingly warm for January and the heater works well too just incase you need to use it. There is plenty of space to put whatever you need, you get a nice table and a neat closet with hangers too! The bathroom is very clean and the water heats up in no time. The kitchen is fantastic with plenty of space to cook. It's literally two steps away from the train station too which is perfect.
Carla will give you plenty of privacy but you have to meet her dog Romeo at least once, he is just the best!
The room is sunny and quiet. There is a great kitchen with a stove and all kitchen utensils. There is large bathroom, which unfortunately is not heated and may be cold at Winter.
This is the second time I stay in this room. Unfortunately this time it was not as pleasant as the previous one had been. Mainly because I developed some sort of skin rash that appeared on my legs, feet, and sometimes on the body or hands after sleeping in the room. From time to time I woke up at night because of very strong itching. I had to apply Cortisone cream that helped me through the night. I don't know what it was, I had never had this before and all symptoms disappeared as soon as I left the place.
The house has poor heating, which is OK at summertime, but in Winter may be a problem. The spacious first floor with a kitchen is not heated and often has a temperature close to that of outside. The second floor heating system works poorly and is in need of maintenance.
The lady of the house is very polite and she does not tolerate any violation of unwritten house rules for which you will be nagged.
The location is not bad, but public transportation leaves a lot to be desired. Sometimes I thought that it was designed so that the people from this area would not be able to reach downtown quickly. There is only one direct line, which is not reliable. I recommend using 23 or 44 bus on Palou at Newhall. to go to Glen Park BART station.
The area is safe and people are very polite. Only once I heard gunshots outside. But no worries, the Police arrived quickly and nobody was shot.
Aleksey has been staying in many different types of rooms and places between staying with us. The room he stayed in (and all the rooms) in the house are kept meticulously clean by all standards at all times (as you can read by all the other guests reviewing, including the person immediately previous to him). The rash he "developed" is a mystery, but has nothing to do with anything in the room, as you can read, he never saw anything. Sounds like excema or nerves (as Aleksey can come across as being very nervous). He kept all his food IN his room which could have attracted the brief appearance of ants, that have since disappeared after his departure. The heating upstairs is TURBO and in fact was too much for the other guests (when they were around). Aleksey required a special extra heater (which he left broken) when he stayed IN THE SUMMERTIME also. At that time he asked to asked to stay longer because he liked it so much..TRANSPORTATION IS AWESOME, as you can read by all the other guest accounts. As for what he refers to as "Nagging", well, when you have to ask a grown person politely more than a couple of times to not waste California water, Turn of electricity and heat when you leave house, don't leave your bike or other items in common spaces, it becomes pretty tedious, but it is in consideration of everyone, not just Aleksey, as he would hope.
I have a nice stay in Bayview. The area makes me think a lot of Quartier Barbès in Paris. So if you like to be in an area that is not touristic and that you love the Barbès life style you will enjoy Bayview! The Muni train is very convenient and to go to the financial (Powell station) district it takes about 40/45 minutes. Carla house is just next to the station so it was really easy to move during the day.
Carla quickly accepted my request and contacted me. We arranged my arrival time and she left a key for me. She would have picked me up from airport but had a prior obligation. After meeting her I can tell she was sincere about pick-up. She is nice and has very good vibes. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. It was exactly what I needed for the weeknd!
Carla's place is great! The people that come in and out of their are awesome people who are definitely going places. I stayed their for two months and don't regret a day of it. The house is nice, full featured, and clean. The neighborhood is interesting too with extremely easy access to the muni (public transit network) that will take you straight into downtown in about 25 minutes.
I have had a wonderful stay chez Carla! I felt at home immediately, her bedroom is fantastic and the bed.. so good! Clara is very very nice, helpful, respectful and easy going! I'm very happy to met her. Thanks Clara! Welcome in Paris!
I loved staying at Carla's house! We had good communication from the beginning before my trip. When I arrived in SF for my check-in, she offered to pick me up at the airport late at night. Now you know that's going to be a great start! And she even took me to the supermarket that night too when I said I needed to buy groceries during my stay.
As for the place, the room is great. It has a nice comfy big bed, good lighting, wi-fi, a desk and a chair for me to do my work. The house has everything I need. A full kitchen, pots and pans, spices and seasonings for cooking, oven, microwave, everything! It has a washer and dryer in the garage for me to do laundry. The bathroom is nice because its bright and its big.
The neighborhood is great. I has lots of food around the area and its walking distance. There's coffee shops, great soul food, fast food. It has Walgreen's few blocks south to buy groceries and few mini market around the corner to buy quick snack too. And the muni T-Line is just around the corner which is really convenient. It will take you downtown and all over the city. You can even connect to the bart and caltrain to go all over the bay area.
I think the place is great and you'll have a nice fun time staying here. You'll have Romeo to accompany you too. You'll love having him around and playing with him, because I sure did
