YOUR HOST WENDEE:

I am a businesswoman in my 50's, a former national public speaker, author, and sales trainer with an MBA. I love to travel and use AirBnb wherever I go. I learn so much from staying in other people's home. I love to remodel and decorate and my rooms reflect my passion for excellence. I want you to be comfortable here, and I love to cater to professionals who need a quiet, no party place to live, either short or long term.

PETS:

I do have a lovable 7 pound non-yappy Chi that is very clean and loves to be social with people. I will accept a small social dog fewer than 15 pounds so Jigsaw can have a friend to play with.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

Q: Describe your home and why people stay here?

A: Your private studio is classy, immaculately clean and uniquely furnished. Guests love staying here because it is quiet. I cater to the mature guest who is looking stay two months or longer who may be in transition. Some former guests were in the market to buy or rent another home, they were on vacation or a business trip, experiencing a job transition, or separating from a spouse or partner. I prefer to have mature adults as my guests, as I find their life style and needs are similar to mine. There is no pot or drugs permitted, nor is loud music and partying. I attract mostly a spiritual or personal growth type person with happiness as a life goal. Some people intend to be a short-term guest for a couple of months, but once they settle in, many end up staying over a year. They find they can't beat the amenities and peace for the price.

Q: Can I entertain my friend, husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, child, grand child in the studio and have them sleep over?

A: This studio is for one person only. The bed is a top of the line "IComfort" x-long twin bed. This home is for a single person who doesn't mind entertaining or having dates outside the home. I know this is inconvenient, yet no one complains to me that they are tired of the restful atmosphere they experience living here. Guests who decide to stay here, do so because they like the quietness of living alone, without the expense of renting a whole home or apartment. Should you like to entertain a lot, you should rent other accommodations.

Q: I have a cute, small, quiet, adorable, friendly, dog, (cat, hamster, turtle) that has been with me forever. Can I keep them in the room with me?

A: I have one non-barking Chi. I prefer only 1 other small dog who is trained, social and friendly less than 15 pounds.

Q: I won't be in town until a month from now. Can you hold the room for me?

A: Sometimes it is difficult for me to make reservations more than a month in advance, for I do not always know who will be renting the studio this month, and for how long. Sometimes people think they will be here only one month, and they end up staying much longer. If the studio is currently filled, and you want to move in when it becomes vacant, you can make a reservation. Alternatively, you can always check back closer to your move in date and see if this room, or another studio I have is available.

Q: Can I have a private bathroom?

A: This studio has a shared bathroom with another single guest with a Jacuzzi tub, shower, toilet, and your private sink is in the studio.

Q: I don't know how long I will need to rent your place. How long can I stay there and how much notice do you need?

A: You may stay as long as you pay rent with a 30-day notice.

Q: Is the rest of the house available for use?

A: No. You are renting a separate studio room with private entrance, large dining and relaxing patio, parking spot, laundry facilities, and bathroom only. Your room has a refrigerator, toaster oven and microwave, electric skillet and a few other appliances for your cooking use. Although this studio is under the same roof as the main house, where I live, it is separated by a solid core door and sound proof walls, from the rest of the home. No other space is shared, so you can maintain your privacy at all times.

Q: What happens if I pay the deposit then I see the place, and my plans change before I move in? Do I lose my money?

A: Unfortunately yes if you cancel LESS than a week in advance, you would forfeit your reservation deposit and AirBnb fees. I have turned other potential guests away because of your commitment to me. I count on people following through on their commitment.

Q: Do you accept both men and women as guests?

A: I only accept one person, so I will rent to a male or female, but there is no room for couples or children in this room. I will accept a non-smoking professional adult who is kind and courteous a person who is busy with outside activities and is a full time professional who works outside the home. This environment is probably not attractive to work-at-home entrepreneurs needing to use the phone for business, or loud speaking adults who like loud music. Quietness is the key to living here. I cater to the adult who likes the idea of living separately, yet finds comfort from knowing someone is close by if they need help. The low price, and low deposit, and little commitment for independent living lets you save more money each month, knowing that you have a fixed living expense that will not increase.

Q: What about utilities? Are they extra?

A: No, utilities are included in the price. Utilities include wireless Time Warner Cable Internet service, basic cable (99 channels), electric, water, gas, trash, weekly gardener, and sewer. If you want the extended Digital Cable Service with a cable box and hundreds of channels (including all the movie channels), there is an extra $15 fee for the box. There is no phone service. You need to use your cell phone. If you don't want to keep your room clean, a once-a month cleaning service is available for $35 a month.

Q: How do I get to your home?

A: I live near El Camino Real and Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad CA 92010. Take the 5 to Carlsbad Village Drive. Go two miles EAST. Go through El Camino Real. I live near El Camino Real and Carlsbad Village Drive.

This may work for you if you are looking for a cottage, casita, detached studio, granny flat, or master suite. Thanks for considering my studio.

  • I had to find my wife a new place on extremely short notice. She was in Southern CA attending a very demanding course at GIA and just didn't have time to deal with finding a new apartment. (Her old apartment had become uninhabitable because of a bad leak.) I found Wendee's place online on airbnb, booked it, and haven't had the slightest regret. My wife loved the place. Wendee's very nice and the house is in a great neighborhood.
