Studio apartment in quiet neighborhood. 10 minutes from downtown Aspen. Double bed with pullout futon- Family of four max. Private entrance, garden seating and two bikes included in summer. Full kitchen, laundry room/closet and private bath.
This clean simple apartment is under our family home of four. It is bright and the private terraced garden adds a lot to the space. The kitchen has a four burner stove, microwave, refrigerator but no oven. Tight but manageable for four adults. Maximum allowed- Four adults or family with 2 kids. 7'-3" ceilings. There is the usual associated noise of being in a downstairs apartment. We prefer quieter non-partying guests and are typically quiet ourselves by 9pm.
Free parking for one car. Private terraced garden with outdoor dining table and chairs (not useful in winter). Shared use of our hot tub. Includes two mountain/town bikes (worth over $60 per day if rented in town. Not available in winter). Flat screen DVD/music player (no cable). WIFI Internet access included.
Interaction with Guests
We have lived in Aspen for decades and can fill you in on all the great things to see and do! We live upstairs but aside from hearing us occasionally, the private entrance means you can come and go with only the interaction you desire.
One of Aspens few remaining family neighborhoods. Dead end street. Totally quiet with large trees and nice views.
Bus stop one block away with free 10 minute service to town. Flat easy bike path is quick to town and accesses great rides, golf, hikes and a great recreation center/pool in moments. Four ski mountains with free bus service.
Ours is a family home. We request that guests are quiet between the hours of 10pm and 8am. No loud music please. No smoking or drugs on premises. No parties. Hot tub use from 8am to 9pm. Includes use of private entrance and outdoor dining area but not the rest of the yard.
We had a wonderful time in Aspen, and staying at this apartment was just perfect. Aspen itself is quite busy, and it was terrific to be able to come home to a peaceful place to stay.
Nete was our host, and she was warm, welcoming, and friendly. The view from the apartment is beautiful, and it is much more spacious then you would think from the picture.
It was furnished very nicely, the kitchen had all we needed, including a blender, and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Aspen.
One person mentioned the inconvenience of some noise from the upstairs, but we had no problem with that at all. All we ever heard was a few footsteps.
We highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Aspen.
PROS: First of all I have to say--Mark was an incredible host! As we arrived he was so welcoming I felt like I already knew him. He gave us great suggestions of where to go for dinner, coffee, night life etc.
The place is much bigger than the pictures depicted and although I didn't bring my two daughters (5&7) on this trip it would have definitely been spacious enough for us all to fit comfortably for the few days we were there. The laundry room (with detergent and fabric softener included) and huge walk-in closet was a giant bonus for me being that I hate clutter and suit cases in the way. The kitchen was stocked with everything (pots/pans/utensils) you'd need to make a simple yet complete dinner--they even had olive oil, salt, pepper and fresh coffee beans available for use! The bathroom was also much bigger than expected and they provided the softest towels to wrap yourself up in, not to mention bath robes and slippers! It was apparent that Nete definitely added her feminine touches all around too--as I began to panic when I remembered I decided not to pack my blow dryer I happily discovered one in the drawer! Although I had my own shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc---they had a generous amount of it there to use as well. Now, the selling point for us was the jacuzzi--I have no clue what I would have done without that thing after spending the day on the mountain (mostly tumbling down). It was such a treat to come back to that and relax in--oh and the view! Just beautiful!
What some may consider a "CON": I have to emphasize that I am a rather laid back person and I'm a parent so I have the tolerance for what comes with the package. In fact, the sound of the family's presence was charming to me. There were times I could hear Mark's kids practicing piano (on week days and at totally reasonable hours) and there is no denying you can hear their foot steps but it is nothing more than one has probably experienced living on the bottom floor of an apartment. The other sound you can hear is the clicking that the heater makes when it is warming the place up. Mark provided ear plugs which neither of us used because it wasn't bothersome to us but I feel the need to disclose that since some people tend to be sensitive to sounds, especially out of their own environments. Upon arrival there was a welcome letter that explained both of these sound factors and they made it very clear that if they could do anything to make the stay more comfortable to let them know.
In summary, the apartment was tastefully and warmly decorated, it had everything you could need--the location was prime and you get a great host! I'd definitely stay here again for either season! Highly recommend it! Thanks again, Mark! =)
Anastasia, Thanks for the kind review. We understand about the sound and do disclose it on our site. You explained it well. The shower handle must have cracked during your stay (just wore out). It was not mentioned by the guest before but our guest the next day alerted us and I fixed it immediately. Sorry you got burned. Hope to see you again and remember our site is offline but this form of communication should still work and I will turn on the site briefly for booking. Regards. Mark
Absolutely lovely place! Very comfy and felt like a little retreat! We appreciated the bathrobes and nice little touches. Location was excellent, only a five minute drive to downtown Aspen and prime location for access to all four mountains. Hot tub was very serene with a spectacular view. Mark gave us excellent recommendations for local hot spots and restaurants. Will look to return next season!
The place was great! It is in a quiet neighborhood and the apartment was fully furnished, basically feels like home.
Great apartment, very clean, comfortable and well presented. Mark and family were the perfect hosts. Would highly recommend. Thanks again
Mark and his family are wonderful.
The place is very clean, very comfortable, useful…
We (4 adults) had more than we need for 3 days in Aspen.
Mark has also many tips to share about Aspen. His house is lovely with a beautiful backyard and the hot but after a ski day is delicious.
We definitively will come back over there.
Thank you very much for having us

My boyfriend and spent several wonderful nights in Aspen at Mark and Nete's place. They were the perfect hosts. Mark was our primary contact and had great suggestions on where to ski, where to eat, etc. Mark and Nete's apt is well-kept and stocked with everything you would need to cook small meals and rest while exploring Aspen. I highly recommend this rental and would stay there again.
We are a family of four. My wife is Nete. We have lived in Aspen for decades. Our children are Ella and Teo. Nete is Swedish and our kids are bilingual. We love to ski, hike and bike. We travel the world every year. We enjoy meeting new people and have had many guests in our apartment (before AIRBB) and they really enjoyed it.
