About This Listing
Gerallt is a traditional stone (ex-)farmhouse in a beautiful setting - a haven of peace and tranquility. Very close to the River Teifi and within easy reach of both Ceredigion & Pembrokeshire Coast Paths and the unspoilt beaches of Cardigan Bay. Come and enjoy a delicious breakfast of locally sourced produce.
Gerallt is a wonderful, tranquil setting and to maintain and enjoy its special quality we are a tv free zone. There is a radio in the room and usually plenty of birdsong and the bubbling stream outside.
We are very happy for guest to share this wonderful place with us. Guests have the use of the house sitting room and Conservatory (Breakfast is served in one of these or the dining room, depending on the weather and guest numbers.) Additionally guests can relax on the South-facing sun-terrace or explore the grounds, which are quite magical.
Interaction with Guests
Ruth and I greatly enjoy people and running a B&B: we get to meet with travellers from around the world. Our guests often tell us that they feel welcomed as though family, and well looked after. (But we don't do fuss!)
We believe we have the best of all worlds here in this part of the Teifi Valley: Gerallt is on the edge of a small hamlet which is itself on the edge of Llechryd village. Looking out from the house you could feel you were a long way from everywhere! Yet we are just a quarter-mile from the A484, only 4 miles from the lovely town of Cardigan and less than 20 mins drive from several of the beautiful beaches along Cardigan Bay (Poppit Sands, Aberporth, Tresaith & Penbryn). We are also convenient for guests attending weddings at Hammett House and Rhossigilwyn.
We are just a quarter of a mile from the A484, and bus-route between Carmarthern and Aberystwyth, which passes through Newcastle Emlyn, Cenarth, Llechryd (Us), Cardigan, Aberearon, etc. Car touring does, though, give much more flexibility.
Other Things to Note
We try to live sustainably; we grow quite a bit of our own food (organically), we harvest rainwater for crops, recycle, have some solar collectors for hot water, etc. Food is organic/locally sourced as much as possible.
Tea & coffee making facilities are provided in the room, as is a hair-dryer.
Relaxed and considerate works nicely for us. (If you're not relaxed when you come, you almost certainly will be by the time you leave.) We ask you to bear in mind that you are an (honoured) guest in our home. Strictly no smoking in the house, but outside is okay. We are careful about pets and will only allow them in special cirumstances by prior arrangement.
We stayed with Lee & Ruth for 2 nights in their charming on-suite room with balcony over the brook. The room and bathroom were warm and extremely clean with fresh white linen/towels and some lovely touches like chocolates and a twinnings tea selection. Waking up and opening the balcony doors to hear the birds in the morning whilst sipping tea was perfect!
Breakfast was served in the conservatory and was enormous!; fresh fruit/cereal and yoghurt selection and a full locally sourced fry up which was perfect to start a long days cycling! Lee & Rutg were both professional and helpful in tailoring our weekend supplying maps and information and recommending a fantastic place to eat- '25mile' (in Cardigan) which is a thriving and trendy town overlooking the river. All in all we'd recommend staying here! Thank you to Lee & Ruth
I stayed at this charming B&B with my partner and another couple for two nights during our motorcycle tour of South West Wales and we were not disappointed. We were made to feel welcome by Lee and his partner Ruth from the moment we arrived.
Our room was cosy and inviting with chocolates, biscuits and freshly picked flowers from their grounds. There was a bowl of fresh fruit and milk as well as tea/coffees to choose from. We had a large en-suite bathroom with spacious bath (big enough for two) and equally large power-shower. A small selection of organic toiletries were also provided. The highlight of the room was the bed, it has to be one of the comfiest beds we have slept in and was perfect after our long days on the motorbike. It was also perfectly positioned facing the wooden French doors that opened out on to our own private and secluded balcony, complete with table and chairs. The balcony overlooked a beautiful bubbling brook that you could hear from the bed along with the leaves from the trees and the odd sheep now and then. These were the only sounds you could hear, which coming from London was lovely.
Breakfast was served both mornings in the sunny conservatory overlooking the grounds and the sheep. We were provided with a selection of fresh and dried fruits, cereals, jams, fruit juices and teas/coffee, followed by a delicious cooked breakfast to order, which was all locally sourced. There was also the option of having a hot vegan meal cooked for us both evenings. We were provided with a varied menu using ingredients mainly grown on their land, but due to the unpredictable nature of our days we ended up eating dinner on the road.
We were made to feel at home and were invited to use the living area of the house which included comfy sofas and a rocking chair as well as the large grounds around the property including their garden and the walk down to the brook. There are also lots of books available to read throughout the house and places to relax.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone wishing to switch off and totally relax, while taking in some beautiful nature.
Both Lee and Ruth are wonderful hosts and did everything to make our stay enjoyable.
The magical Gerallt B&B comes highly recommended!

About the Host, Lee
I'm an easy-going guy who, having lived in and around London all my life eventually discovered West Wales. I now live here in this wonderful and beautiful place with my partner, Ruth. We run a B&B, grow a lot of our own food (organically), and are WWOOF hosts. My interests include health & wellbeing; I am a shiatsu practitioner and I teach qigong. I find that life just gets better and better the more I let go and relax. I believe most people who share time with me would say they felt better for it. (I don't claim to have special charisma, just a good attitude.)
I love food and whilst I l enjoy meat I eat mainly vegetarian food. I'm a non-smoker (stale smoke is one of the few things that gets to me!)
