I stayed at Marie and Richard's place with my girlfriend for four days and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The home is extremely clean and tastefully furnished. Although there's no kitchen, they do provide a mini-fridge and a Keurig coffee/tea maker. We wanted to enjoy the local restaurants so a kitchen wasn't necessary. The home is beautiful and what you see in the pictures is what you'll walk into when you first step inside. The bed and the chairs are all very comfortable so you won't be at a loss for a good place to rest in-between all the sightseeing you're bound to enjoy. As hosts, Marie and Richard were quick to respond to our questions and had lots of good hints on places to go for food and shopping.
The home is in a very safe neighborhood and is literally right across the street from 3 different subway lines. There's a slight learning curve to the NYC subway system but once you've got it down, you'll be thankful that not only is the station 20 seconds from the front door, but you also have multiple lines to choose from. The neighborhood has lots of cool independently owned and operated shops and restaurants. 5th and 7th avenues, Union, and Flatbush are all streets we recommend taking the time to explore. It'll be a nice break from all the corporate chains located in Times Square.
We definitely plan on coming back to do all the things in NYC and Brooklyn we didn't have a chance to do. When we do return, we're planning on putting Marie and Richard's place at the top of our list as it truly felt like a home away from home.
Despite the snowy weather, we had a wonderful time at Rie and Richard's place in Park Slope. Richard deserves kudos for keeping the walkway and stairs snow free and well-salted, a job he needed to do frequently while we were there!
Our place was clean, comfortable and so close to the subway that I am still amazed that I never was aware of noise from the tracks!
Rie and Richard were wonderful about orienting us to our place and also left a concise book covering details about the place and about the area around us. The apartment is well situated for exploring Park Slope as well as getting into Manhattan.
Great attention to details: coffee maker, yogurt in the refrigerator, and Rie was kind enough to have half and half for my morning coffee. Comfortable bed, incredible soaking tub and delightful sitting room. Even a much used mudmat for our wet boots, right by the door!
It was a delight to come "home" every night to such a wonderful place. I can't recommend it (and our hosts) highly enough!
We would love to come back and explore more when the weather is nicer!
I greatly enjoyed my stay in Brooklyn with Marie and Richard. They are wonderful hosts and the apartment is spacious and comfortable. Although there is no kitchen, they provided a coffee machine and fridge stocked with yogurt for the mornings and beyond that there is so much great food in the neighbourhood that there is really no need to cook. The bedroom is in the back and very quiet and the apartment is perfectly located for exploring Brooklyn and the rest of New York. The subway is right across the street. Marie and Richard made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I hope to stay with them again soon.
This place was so pretty and cozy! We loved the elegant interior, and it was so close to transit, too. Rie and her husband were so sweet and accommodating, even texting us to warn us the stairs were icy one morning after a freezing wet night. We really enjoyed our stay here, and absolutely loved the location, too!
I really enjoyed my stay here. The apartment is both comfortable and attractive. The location is perfect -- across the street from the subway & a short walk to a lot of bars and restaurants on 4th Street. And Marie and Richard were excellent hosts. Highly recommended.
thank you Dorothee for the kind remarks. For English readers I'll clarify that 3 subway lines, the R, F and G are directly across the street (10 meters from our door). You can get anywhere in Manhattan quickly using one of these lines. That's one of the many things guests love about our suite.
What a wonderful place with the most accommodating hosts. The location was ideal and the rooms lovely.
We had an AMAZING time in New York, and this was largely due to our stay with Marie and Richard. The neighborhood was great and the apartment was clean and cozy (just what we were looking for). As for our hosts, they were amazing, considerate, and very sweet. Words (especially limited ones) can't express how welcome we felt during our stay here. We often had to convince each other to leave the apartment and enjoy our vacation, the apartment was so inviting!
The apartment has cable TV in the bedroom, wifi, and an amazing shower complete with a jet-stream hot tub---all of which contributed to our near-hermitic state. We did, however, manage to eventually leave the apartment every afternoon and explore.
When we did, we were pleased to discover that the train is literally across the street from the apartment, which made getting to Manhattan super easy. Moreover, the best of the Park Slope neighborhood is a very easy and close walk from the apartment. Oh, and two words: Bagel Pub! Couldn't get enough of those bagels, and we had them nearly every morning for breakfast.
There is also a very nice bar walking distance from the apartment in which we participated in a trivia game and had a great time.
All in all, this apartment and our experience in it and around the neighborhood made us wish we could move to Brooklyn. We really did have such an amazing time. Thanks again, Marie and Richard! We hope to see you again next time we're in New York!

Would very highly recommend. Marie and Richard are very nice and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. This master suite really is exquisite-- it's absolutely spotless and beautifully restored. The bed is super comfortable, too. We wanted to explore Brooklyn on this trip and this was the perfect location for it, right at the crossroads of several interesting neighborhoods. And, as others have mentioned, the subway stop couldn't be any closer. Perfect for getting into Manhattan.
