Modern conveniences, elegant finishes in a 19th century house. Full floor master suite (2nd floor of home) has private entrance, private bath, 10-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, central AC & chandeliers. 3 subway lines just across the street.
Suite is furnished for comfort and technology needs: Queen-size Duxiana bed, 32" Sony flat screen HDTV and Bose SoundDock. Antique bachelor's chest to unpack your clothes. Private en suite bathroom has deep whirlpool Zen tub, European vanity, Duravit toilet and carrera marble floor.
Bedroom is at the quiet rear of the house.
Living room with two windows overlooks a prairie fire apple tree in the front garden. Cozy up on the down-filled sofa in front of the romantic, but alas, non-working fireplace. There’s a desk for computer use and a compact refrigerator for beverages and snacks. Please note: there is not a full kitchen. When possible we share our well-equipped chef's kitchen .
The suite is on the parlor floor (9 steps up from the street). It accommodates two adults. It is not child-proof or child-friendly so we are unable to accept infants or children.
The minimum stay is 4 nights from April-December, except for major holidays, when it is 5 nights.
The house is 112 years old and has been renovated. We preserved some of the old features including the yellow pine hardwood floor in the living room/lounge. Note that this flooring is soft and easily gouged by heavy luggage. Please be kind to it.
Know too that we live in the house and are present during your stay. This is important because it means that we are legal in NYC.

Interaction with Guests
We enjoy our role as hosts to guests from around the world. Our neighborhood guide helps you discover all the best experiences of Park Slope and the best of many neighborhoods beyond.
Located at the intersection of Park Slope, Gowanus and Carroll Gardens you can treat yourself to old B'lyn & new BK by strolling north, south, east or west to see contrasts, changes and the vibrancy of these multi-ethnic, multi-generational communities.
Transportation & Parking
It’s only steps to the F and R subway lines that whisk you to Manhattan, also the G to hipster Williamsburg.
The F train takes you to lower Manhattan, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Macy's, midtown, Rockefeller Center, or to Coney Island. The R connects with a major hub at Atlantic Avenue to take you anywhere you like in Manhattan or to the Long Island Railroad.
There’s on street parking and you can usually find a space on our block (particularly at off peak times).
Our rules are common sense. Guests are expected to practice good bathroom etiquette, and abide by NYC's recycling laws.
•No smoking in the home or front yard. Our neighbors appreciate it if you go across the street to smoke.
•No pets, no parties, no outside visitors or overnight guests without previous clearance
•Do not engage in illegal activities in the apartment or on the property
•If you break or damage something, tell us so we can arrange for its replacement or repair
•Do not leave any food out & please do not eat in the bedroom
•Hang up the towels on one of the 2 towel racks or hooks (2) on the back of the bathroom door
•If you shower, turn on the vent fan (middle switch on the wall) and let it run for a few minutes afterward
•Clean hair and whiskers from the tub & sink
•Do not open windows when the central AC is on
•The City levies a fine if we don't recycle properly. In the Living Room you’ll see a stainless trash can that has separate compartments for two categories of recyclables (labeled on the inside). A black wire wastebasket with the white liner is for garbage.
If you are new to Airbnb you may not know that there is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and towels are provided, maid service is not included in the rental rate.
On arrival all guests must present a government-issued photo ID. Some nefarious people have used airbnb for criminal activity. Not that showing us an ID protects anyone but it gives us at least the illusion.
Check-ins are welcome anytime between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
•We require that the entire guest party plan to arrive before 9:00 pm. Because the house has some very costly furnishings and a few quirks it is essential that we give you an orientation. This is required for everyone who will stay here. The only time we have ever had a problem was when one guest was unaware of what is offered and what is not.
•Once you've made travel plans please let us know when you plan to arrive. If your travel plans mean you will arrive after 9:00 pm there is a $25 fee for late arrival up until midnight. No guests will be admitted later. Of course we understand there might be a late arrival if there’s a flight delay – we track incoming flights to know and expect that.
•The house is 112 years old and has been renovated. We preserved some of the old features including the yellow pine wood floor in the living room/lounge. Note that this flooring is soft and easily gouged by heavy luggage. Please be kind to it. We ask guests to leave their shoes/boots at the door (inside because the foyer is shared space - there is a shoe tray behind the sofa).

Finally, plan to have fun, sleep well and enjoy!
Richard welcomed us by being at the door and giving us a quick tour which was helpful. We felt our privacy was respected. The house was part of neighborhood of residential homes with shops and eateries nearby.
We loved Richard and Rie lovely suite. It was exactly like the pictures and exceptionally clean and charming we loved how close it was to the subway, but even better it was a five minute walk to our daughter's apartment. We came to visit with our daughter, her husband, and celebrate our grandson's first birthday. We arrived with rain pouring down and were met the minute we got out of car by Richard who hurried us inside with an umbrella. Rie and Richard were always available but never intrusive and this was a wonderful and quiet place to return to after a day with a one year old! We definitely will try to stay here when we visit next year.
Thank you for letting others know that the suite is exactly what they see. And we are always ready to help by storing luggage so that guests can roam freely their last day. I appreciate that you mention the great value of your stay. Hope to see you on your next visit.
First - the pictures posted on the website are completely true to the actual beautiful space! There are no 'surprises' once you arrive. From the moment you walk in the front door, you feel like you are in a warm, welcoming place. The bedroom is relaxing, the bed is comfy, (my husband appreciated the TV), and the bathroom is spacious compared to NYC comps. Marie and Richard kept tabs on our arrival, as they knew we were driving in and wanted to make sure we found our way! They both are very gracious and accommodating hosts, who made us feel welcome in their home. Any questions we had were answered very timely. There are thoughtful touches for travelers throughout the rooms.
Second highpoint, and very important for our visit, is the location of the subway station. Across the street! We were able to park our car for most of our stay and travel everywhere we needed on the F and G trains.
Thank you Marie and Richard for providing a relaxing place during our hectic, yet exciting, visit!
This was a great place to stay. It was very comfortable and clean. I spent a lot of my time with my son visiting my new grandson so had little time to get to know my hosts. They made it very clear that they were there to help me if I need it though. As a single person they also helped make me feel safe. I hope to come back and stay again in the future.
A real home from home was our experience staying at Marie and Richard's Mastersuite.
We were warmly welcomed after a long journey and immediately felt comfortable and able to relax. It was great to have the sitting room as extra space.
The position of their home was perfect for us as we were visiting our son in Park Slope. The area has a good selection of shops, restaurants with the underground across the street.
Marie was helpful and friendly.
It is difficult to add any unique comments as so much has been said before by others! All true!
We thoroughly recommend this beautiful property and will be back!
Marie and Richard are the best host you can meet in your travell. They are helpfull and kind, they give you all the suggestion and guidelines you need for your stay, and at the same time they respect your privacy. The apartment was very beautiful, very clean and in a good position, near of the subway. Park slope is really a wonderful area and we loved it. Our experience was perfect.
An explorer of places, experiences and ideas. I fell in love with Park Slope and count myself fortunate to live here. Our 110-year-old Brooklyn rowhouse reflects the assiduous care taken to give it 21st century comforts with the relaxed charm of a family home. My husband Richard, a stage and film actor, is the mayor of our block - he loves to chat with passersby and their dogs. He and I have traveled in Asia, Europe, Latin America and hiked many US states. Now we explore the boroughs of NYC to discover the treasures, secrets and delicacies of other neighborhoods. That's how we find exciting and delightful things to share with our guests. A researcher by nature and profession, I enjoy finding what's new, fun and satisfying.
