So, if you want the best of the best, this is it. Stay in a newly renovated top floor condo literally above the galleries of the french quarter. One block from the incredible restaurant/bar scene on East Bay St, two blocks from Waterfront Park, and bordering the stunning South of Broad neighborhood, you wont need a car, just walk to the very best of downtown Charleston.

Guests will share the kitchen and bath, but the bedroom is more like a studio apartment, completely private, with it's own couch and full size desk.

Guests will be left to their own while they're here and given privacy to come and go as they please. Also provided: fresh linens and towels.

Welcome to the French Quarter. Broad Street separates the SOB's (South of Broad) Charlestonian's from the SNOB's (Slightly North of Broad). Walk south and you'll see some of the most stately homes in the southern US, historic churches and waterfront parks. Go left to Meeting Street or right to E. Bay to find restaurants, cafes, french wine bars, night spots, and plenty to do. Or go two blocks left to King St and find all the shops, boutiques and high end shopping you could hope for. The area is extremely safe, so get out and get lost in the greatest small city in the world.

If you're flying in, no need to rent a car. Take a $12 shuttle that heads from the airport to downtown every 15 min. Then walk! Or grab a bike taxi to get around quicker. Also, Yellow Cab has a flat rate of $6 to go anywhere downtown.

No need to bring towels, linens or even beach towels. You'll find these in the room freshly washed, folded and ready for your visit.

In the room you'll find a hair dryer for your use as well as mini shampoos, conditioners and toothpastes just like the hotels. So now you can pack less and enjoy getting your trip started.

Anything else you need? Just let me know and I'll do my best to have it ready in your room before you arrive.

I have two bikes (his and hers cruisers) that you can use anytime during you're stay. And yes, everything downtown is accessible by bike.

  • Great host! Great Location! Brian went above and beyond with personal recommendations and nice accommodations. Highly reccomended

  • The room is comfortable, spacious, and clean, with very pleasant views of Charleston rooftops and trees out the 2 large windows. The AC works great and we slept very well in the bed. The shared bath is tiny. As we hardly saw anyone else, we didn't much feel we were sharing and pretty much had the place to ourselves. It was not a problem for us, but should be noted that this apartment is up 2 flights of stairs. The location is awesome--perfect for our stay and exploration of Charleston. Access to bikes for free is a really nice touch--cycling is a great way to see the neighborhoods and to get around in Charleston. Although he was out of town and we did not meet him, Brian very responsive and super to deal with.

  • It was great staying with Brian. We met briefly but he was easy to contact throughout my stay and left detail directions for checking in and out, etc. His roommate was very friendly and offered to show me the neighborhood.

The location is wonderful and within walking distance of whatever you're doing in town. The apartment is quiet even being on a major street. The room is large with a comfortable bed and the bathroom, as noted by other guests, is small.

  • This was a great room in the middle of it all. While it is a room in an apartment I never saw the roommate that was staying there - it was like having our own private place. There is a kitchen you can use, but we found ourselves rarely using it as we were out exploring Charleston most of the time.

The location was fantastic. The apartment itself was in an area that was mostly service offices (lawyers, architects, etc.). This meant there was relatively low traffic right around the apartment. Heading north of Broad you were immediately immersed in the downtown area with tons of options for food, drinks, shopping, and historic charm. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go (including the aquarium). Heading south of Broad you could look at all of the neat old mansions and neighborhoods. If you have access to a car, it's a short hop and a skip to the bridge leading off of Peninsular Charleston and to the beach.

The room itself was suprisingly quiet with a pleasant view. It was bright, cheery, and cool. The bathroom which was shared was on the smaller side - but definitely not a problem. And like I mentioned before, there was never an issue with sharing the space as I never saw the roommate. As mentioned in other reviews, it is on the third floor so if you are a person who has problems with stairs it might not be the best option for you.

On the other hand, if you want a comfortable affordable room in one of the nicest parts of Charleston, this is a great option. I would definitely stay here again next time I visit.

  • Brian was a wonderful host. While I never met him (he was away), he was easily accessible by phone when I had a question. His roommate Todd was very friendly. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet (the photo is very accurate). The best part is the location - it is in the heart of Charleston walking distance from everything you want to see and do on the peninsula. I highly recommend staying with Brian if you're in Charleston.

  • Location, location, location - that's what Brian's place is all about, and it's great!

I'm not really accustomed to sharing a bathroom, so that was a little odd for me, but not because of Brian or his roommates. It's just... well, something I haven't done in more years than I'd like to count!

The bed is comfortable, the Netflix viewing is great, and the house was kept clean by Brian's housemates while we were there. I only caught a glimpse of one of the guys for about 3 seconds, but he seemed nice. :)

Overall, a great place to stay if you're comfortable sharing a flat/apartment with folks you haven't met. They're absolutely not intrusive, and if you want a quiet room just a few steps off the action in Charleston, this is a great place!

As for Brian, he was very responsive to phone calls and texts during the one or two times I had a question. The front door at the street, when it's locked, can be tricky, but he was available to help!

  • Wonderful location and the guys were kind enough and respectful of our privacy during the stay. Room offers all the comforts of home and provides ample room to spread out. Wouldn't suggest this flat if you have issues with stairs. We'll be back and would suggest it to our friends.

  • Brian was not in town when I stayed at his place, but remained easily reachable via text and talking on the phone. He's very helpful.

The apartment is charming; it does have a lot of stairs going up to the apartment entrance then narrow stairs leading up into the apartment. For me that was not an issue having lived in NYC for years and I can walk easily, but some people may be bothered.

Also, the bathroom is small, but again...you're not there to spend your vacation in the bathroom! It's clean and functional.... The bedroom is huge and comfortable. The overall apartment is clean and the location, SPECTACULAR. You can easily walk from Brian's place to all over downtown Charleston, or grab a cab (or pedicab) if needed.

By the way, parking is bad all over downtown Charleston so you can either use a garage to park your car or just fly in and take a taxi to town.

    I highly recommend this place.

  • This place is great for out of town travelers or anyone wanting to be right in the thick of downtown charleston. Walking distance to most all of the great restaurants and nightlife, short cab from others. Quiet room, just as described. Host was accommodating of my flex in schedule. Will recommend to others!

  • Brian and Todd's place is the perfect base to explore old Charleston for a couple days. Brian and Todd were both friendly and happy to give recommendations on local restaurants and sights. The room and the apartment are immaculate and we really had the feeling that we had the place to ourselves though just renting a single room. Location could not be any better for those here for the first time. Everything is walking distance. You won't need a car. Keep in mind the house is very old so it will have that warped wooden feel and a rather small bathroom. All in all, a great stay.
