Talo on hienolla paikalla Pispalan harjulla. Eino-myrsky rämisytteli mahtavasti peltikattoja, joten nukkua ei tarvinnut sunnuntai-yönä. Isäntä jakoi paikallista tietämystä ravitsemusliikkeistä sekä hienosta Suomen vanhommasta vielä käytössä olevasta yleisestä saunasta Pispalassa.
Hyvä kokemus. Suosittelen.
I only met Pekka briefly, and he's been really friendly, helpful, and fun. My friend was his guest, so here's what he wrote:
"This is a great place to stay if you are planning to visit either Tampere, the Pirkanmaa region or southwestern Finland in general. Not only is it located in the picturesque Tampere neighborhood of Pispala, but it has great connections to the surroundings. There is a bus stop just a few meters from the house, which is itself less than an hours walk from the town center, if you prefer it this way - I for one took that route often, and it does not disappoint. Access by car is also easy, and cyclist would most likely enjoy it as well, since the climb from Tampere center is not that long nor steep. There is a grade school near the house, just across the street, but unless you keep your windows open, you won't hear any schoolyard ruckus.
The room being rented is spacious, with a nice view and comes with a big balcony and your private toilet. The bathroom is on the same floor, and has to be shared, but throughout my stay, I've never had to wait to get in. For travellers unfamiliar with the North, the room is warm and cozy, and the bathroom and toilet floors are heated.
You can come and go from your room and the house at your own hours, provided you keep quiet. Pekka is a well travelled and a very nice guy, so you should have no problems communicating with him. If you however prefer to keep that to a minimum, don't worry, most Finns prefer it that way.
To conclude, this is probably the cheapest and nicest, especially considering its location, place to stay if you want to visit Tampere and its surroundings, as long as you're looking for B&B. And for a personal tip, if the weather forecast is sunny and the room available, visit in mid september, you will not regret it.
