Wireless internet is also available: it is fast and unlimited.

I will meet you on arrival and orient you to the house, neighbourhood and city. I tend to be away a lot so the chances are high that you will have the house to yourselves. I also tend to work long hours at the university where I lecture or am otherwise out in the evenings so you will not see much of me.

The neighbourhood is Dublin's 'embassy belt' and is peaceful yet central.

Within 7 minutes walk of the house I am in the large gardens and fields of the Victorian Herbert Park, or enjoying the stunning views of Dublin from the rooftop bar of the Marker Hotel. l can cross the road to take the Dodder River walk to the Grand Canal Dock and over to the River Liffey.

The Aviva Stadium is two minutes walk from the house, the RDS is six minutes walk, the Bord Gais/Grand Canal and LIR Theatres are six/seven minutes walk . The village of Ballsbridge is five minutes walk away and has numerous restaurants, pubs and the large Victorian Herbert Park. Beggar's Bush is four minutes in the opposite direction and again has award-winning restaurants, famous pubs and a supermarket open 24/7. The Grand Canal Dock is seven minutes walk away.

Public transport is on the doorstep - take the DART or the frequent double-decker buses. You are within 5 minutes walk to the Grand Canal and you can walk to Merrion Square and the National Gallery in less than 10 minutes. Stephen's Green and Trinity College are less than 20 minutes walk.

Lansdowne DART station is two minutes walk away. There are frequent buses (the bus stops are two minutes walk away) going to and from the city centre.

A taxi from Dublin airport will cost about €25 or you can take the Aircoach to (and from) the Burlington Hotel in Donnybrook (service every 15 minutes). A taxi from the Burlington will cost about €6 or is a 15 minute walk.

The house is particularly suitable for people who are attending concerts or events at Aviva, the RDS, or the Bord Gais/Grand Canal Dock Theatre.

  • Katherine was a great host - very helpful in giving us advice on where to eat and what to do. The house was very clean, nice, and quiet.

  • Had a great time during our stay in Dublin. Katherine's home was perfect, calm clean with everything needed to make our stay positive. Perfectly located within walking distance of the City. Katherine was really welcoming with loads of useful tips about where to go, what to see. Would definitely hope to stay there again next time we visit

  • Katherine's place has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It seems recently refurbished and everything is spotless. The collection of paintings adds a personal touch to the house and the fireplace creates an unique ambience in the guest room.

I barely met Katherine but she was thoughtful and polite. My stay there was perfect.

Located in a quiet residential area, it's well communicated with the city centre by bus - 15/20' walk to Merrion Square.

I would recommend it as a good option in Dublin.

  • Katherine has a beautiful serene home in a gorgeous safe quiet neighborhood just south of the canal, in walking distance of center city Dublin and close to many delicious lovely cafes (we so loved one of her recommendations, Farmer Brown's on Bath Avenue, that we went for brunch two weekends in a row!). The bedroom has an extremely comfortable double bed, lots of natural light, ample closet space. Her house is both modern and cosy, we especially loved the fireplace downstairs, and there's a wonderful calming energy. Felt like a retreat in the middle of the city. The location would be especially convenient for anyone attending events at the RDS. Katherine is a thoughtful, generous, creative, empathetic, incredibly fascinating person who really cares about her community- and we shared so many interests. Our conversations will stay with me a long time and I hope to stay with her again soon! You won't find a more welcoming host or truly beautiful home.

  • Katherine's place was very cosy, warm, clean and comfortable. I had an excellent stay there with my mother. We had the entire place for ourselves with a great kitchen, dining room and garden, a big room and bathroom. The house is in the middle of Ballsbridge with cabs at the corner of the street and 30min walk from the city center. Katherine was a great host, discrete and nice. I definitely recommend to stay at her lovely place.
