Four of us had a great stay in John's place - comfortable, clean and very convenient. Communication with the host was a breeze even though he was out of town at the time. We loved the decor and the neighbourhood -- would definitely stay again.
I stayed for a week at this apartment with my two daughters and mother. First a word about our host - we had exceptional service, a warm welcome (and help with our bags!) and always very good communication. The apartment itself was very charming and had every convenience. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom worked well. The apartment is well located in an interesting neighbourhood in Brooklyn. The local shops were great and convenient.
A couple of points that are outside the control of our host yet worth noting - one was the noise level we experienced from the neighbours. The first few nights we had loud music to contend with. However, we spoke to the neighbours and they were very gracious about our request and kept the music down thereafter. The local pub has a patio in the back, and we were not disturbed by their clientele, but also had the windows shut.
Second, the local subway station, while very close to the apartment, is under construction during the next few months (I don't know the exact dates, but that was what we were told). On the weekends, this means taking a shuttle bus to the next open subway station (a delay of about 15 minutes). During the week, the local subway station is open in the direction of Manhattan, but closed on the Brooklyn-bound side. So that means either getting out early (which means about a twenty minute walk through a very pleasant and charming residential neighbourhood) or getting out at the next station and taking the subway back in the other direction (a quick option to take). We did both depending on the weather.
I would recommend the apartment. The pros outweigh the cons.
Loved Josh's apartment. It was around the corner from my son's apartment who we were visiting to help with newborn twins. The space was very comfortable and inviting. The location was excellent surrounded by wonderful restaurants and organic grocery stores. I have recommended the apartment for family members that will be coming to visit the new babies. It is up a couple flights of stairs so not a great spot for people who have issues with stairs. Will definitely be back!
Me and a friend stayed for almost a month in Josh's apartment. It's a really nice apartment with a very comfortable living area (with netflix and super comfy couch!). We found the apartment to be pretty convenient; it was close to the train, and there are heaps of places to do food shopping. Also a lot of restaurants to choose from. We particularly liked the Japanese place down the road,
You can definitely hear the music from the bar downstairs, though it didn't disturb my sleep, and my friend was fine once she got earplugs. My bedroom was the smaller one, basically a big bed taking up most of the room, I had to put my suitcase in the other larger bedroom. But it was a VERY comfy bed! My friend was in the much larger bedroom, though the bed is a little smaller in there.
We really enjoyed our stay, and really liked being able to come back from an exhausting day of sightseeing to the apartment, which was a great place to relax.
I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a place in NY, it was everything we wanted and we had no problems.
The location is fabulous. We came to do the marathon and had easy access to the start via Staten Island ferry. Half a dozen v cool restaurants literally on the doorstep and the organic grocery which has everything you could need and is open until late at night. Q-train ten minute walk and a quick ride into Manhattan.
Joshua's flat is very light and welcoming ! Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed our stay there, and the area is full of nice restaurants and bars. Joshua has been very welcoming and communicative, which helped us enjoy our stay even more ! If you are looking for a nice place to stay in Brooklyn, this is THE PLACE !
Beautiful apartment! Unfortunately the bar/flowershop was a bit loud on friday and saturday night but everything else was great!
We had a great time at Josh´s apartment. It was amazing to get out of the Manhattan hectic and to relax in the Brooklyn neighborhood.
We had a great stay at Josh's place! The apartment is huge and creative. The neighborhood is relaxed and a nice difference to all the touristy areas in NYC. Everything was very clean and tidy and even though we didn't get to meet Josh Check-In and everything else went smooth as could be.
We had a wonderful stay at Josh's apartment. There was plenty of space, it was clean and the neighborhood was great. We can absolutely recommend the Farm restaurant, Mimi and Sycamore.
The communication with Josh was also very good. He answered all our questions. We would definitely come back when we visit New York again with our families.
Thank you Josh!
