Interaction with Guests
We have an easy approach to interaction with guests, everyone is different some people like to be private some like to have an involvement with us. We have had guests where we see them very little and others who have had dinner with us or drinks in the garden we are basically guided by what our guests want out of their stay and of course what our daily lives dictate.
Barnwell is a historic, quaint and stunningly beautiful village, set in the Nothamptonshire countryside of rolling hills. We have a stream that runs through the village that enhances the relaxing feel to it. The surrounding area has multiple villages of similar size and beauty all situated within easy reach of the local town of Oundle. Visit the Talbot hotel with the famous staircase that Mary queen of scots walked down and Fotheringhay Castle where she was beheaded to name just a couple of interesting points.
It is more convenient for guests if they have their own transport however we have hosted guests who have not come with a car and we have run them into Oundle so that they can catch the bus or taken them to restaurants in the evening, we are here to please and try to help wherever we can.
Other Things to Note
We do have two dogs at our home who are friendly so we prefer animal lovers but for those who do not want to be around dogs we will keep them out of your way.

Sandra was friendly and extremely attentive during our short stay. The studio is well equipped but it's worth noting that there is no phone reception nor internet. Sandra offered to reimburse us if we used the bt wi fi service.
Also don't rely on Google maps etc to find the studio. Make sure you're aiming for the right place as most default to another nearby village!
Thank you for the feed back David, I note your comments about the directions on Google maps, most people who have stayed have printed off the directions that I have included on this site that I recommend are printed off and have had no problems in finding us. The phone can be difficult I agree but if people need to use the phone in emergencies I do allow the main line to be used. My current guests have managed to get service on both internet and phone by using the seating area I recommended to you. I accept this is not always practical but re-imbursement of fees for BT commercial site is always the other option for internet and face time or skype. Thank you again for staying with us.
Sandra was a wonderful host for my week-long stay in the area. She went above and beyond to ensure that my time at her studio was pleasant and comfortable. She and her husband are very friendly, extremely helpful, and genuinely try to make you feel at home. Also, the pastries and breads in the mornings were a nice surprise!
The studio itself is beautiful. It's outfitted to be warm and welcoming, receives a nice amount of sunlight, and has such a comfy bed! All amenities one might need seemed to already be provided. The next time I'm in town, I'll be sure to check if there's availability here first. Thank you again!!
Barnwell village is a very picturesque and pretty little village and was located only a few minutes from Wadenhoe, where we were setting up for my sisters wedding! We arrived at the B&B location to be greeted by Sandras mother and two very lovely dogs :-) We were only collecting the keys and then heading back to continue with wedding prep, but we poked our head into the studio for a preview....and wow! Even having seen the pictures on airbnb, we were still absolutely thrilled! It's a beautiful studio space with everything you might need and more, felt spacious and homely, yet also special and we were immediately really glad of our decision to stay there :-) All was as described, and Sandra had kindly put a full length mirror from her own home into the studio to make getting ready easier for my wife.
We then went back to Wadenhoe, but looked forward to returning for our first nights stay. On returning, we met Sandra and had a nice chat, and she showed us around the studio and pointed out all the many additional provisions in the kitchen and so on...as well as handing us some croissants for the morning.
We popped out to Oundle for dinner, at the Talbot Hotel, which was delicious and highly recommended, and is about 10 minutes up the road.
After a comfortable nights sleep, we got ready for the wedding, enjoying a warm croissant and I popped out to prepare the car with ribbon etc. Moli and Riz (lovely dogs) were basking in the sun and it was the beginning of a great day.
The whole of the village is lovely, the accommodation is quiet and comfortable and with everything you could possibly need (and more), the courtyard is gated as well, and you can park your car right outside below the studio. All in all...perfect. Thank you Sandra!
Sandra was a lovely host, the area was very quiet so great for getting away from things.
The studio was very nice with a big bed and powerful shower, very handy kitchen as well.
Would recommend this place for a relaxing stay in a nice country setting. There is a small shop and a pub in the village which were both useful.
Thank you Sandra and Bill,
