PLEASE NOTE: longterm from May 15 to September. No short stays. Interested in longterm? Please look at my other ads and send me a request.
The space is 93m2 of comfort and homeliness. A balcony (with fresh herbs in summer) which you can enjoy if the Dutch weather permits. A fully equipped kitchen where you can chop and cook up all the local and exotic produce you find on the Dappermarkt (open 6 days a week). A master bedroom with a 140cm bed and one guest room with a single bed which can transform in a double bed. Some English books and cable tv if you don't feel like going out and not to forget:a beamer to plug your Mac in for your own in house cinema.
You can grab the standard stuff in the kitchen like coffee, tea and basic amenities if you replace what you use.
I will be there at check in- and check out but always open to share a drink and inside info. Also I can be in everyday to feed the cats.
Also please note that I work on location a lot so sometimes I cannot respond to a reservation request immediately (hence the slow response rate on airbnb ;-)
The neighborhood..Ohh.. where to start, there are so much nice things to do, all which I can share with you while you're here just to meet your specific preferences. But here's some more general info on my hood:
Amsterdam East has a particular funky charm, in the recent years it has undergone a lot of restructuring and urban rejuvenation to rid the wild west stories and safety. Not to worry at all, Amsterdam East is now one of the most upcoming happening neighborhoods where more and more locals would like to live. And it is absolutely safe during the day and at night, at least when you do not hang yourself with all the riches you possess, but that I would not recommend that in any big city.
A lot of original buildings have unfortunately been demolished and replaced with horrendous social houses but not all of them. I'm lucky to have obtained one of the Amsterdam school type architectural buildings, which you can still see in the neighborhood.
We are also in close vicinity of some great parks like the Oosterpark, Flevopark (with a great little gin and liquor distillery) and Diemerpark and some city beaches. Also close to some great rural countryside and green zones surrounding Amsterdam. You can go running, cycling canoeing, swimming, waterskiing and sailing just five minutes from my house. The countryside has a few nice farms where you can buy vegetables, cheese and other produce and a farmers market is close by.
East is getting more and more funky an vibrant and is known for the daily Dappermarket, Studio K, Tropenmuseum, the Artis zoo and the Hortus Botanicus.
East is a multicultural part of town (just like the West side) with a good mix of Chinese, Surinamese, Moroccans, Turkish and Dutch people which is reflecting in loads of shops, bakeries and eateries. Besides that the cultural minded and young students have discovered East and happening places such as clubs, coffee bars and cafe's are fast spreading.
Having said all of this, It's only 10 minutes away from the city center and well connected with public transport. I would recommend everyone to discover the versatility and genuine feeling of East while discovering the big tourist hubs of Amsterdam.
Public Transport: Muiderpoort station only a 5 minute walk. Tram 7,14 and bus 22, will connect you with the center in a short 10 minutes.
As I already pointed out, there are two cats that are part of the deal, so you must like cats and as you know cats have hairs (I provide swiffer+cloths+clothesbrushes). I can be over everyday to feed them if you want. So if you are allergic it is a major bummer but there's nothing I can do unfortunately (for mild allergies, I can supply Allerfree, but it's your own guess and responsibility whether that works for you)
There are a few house rules
- No smoking inside- smoking can be done on the balcony downstairs
- No Drugs - I know that for some Amsterdam
can be quite alluring and I don't want to get in the way of your 'enlightenment' as I am openminded but I sure do not want to be responsible for your mental health in any case.
So if you feel like doing anything that's fine by me, just come home in a normal state of mind so it won't bother my neighbors or I need to worry about you jumping out of windows (which some tourists actually occasionally do when encountering the delights of Amsterdam)
- No parties in my house- there's is plenty of places to party in Amsterdam consequently NO LOUD MUSIC
- No third party guests- for security and insurance reasons:
do not bring third party guests in my home.
- If you loose the keys it will cost 15 euro's reimbursement to make a new set of keys.
- If you break something you tell me so we can discuss the reimbursement out of the deposit.
Stay at Cheener place was great! We love the apartment that is such as the photos are, tidy and very cozy. The kitchen is really good equipped with all you need to cook.
We love the cats too: they are so sweet!!
The apartment is in a perfect location, maybe not so near to the city center, but with good services in the neighborhood. 2supermarkerts and the bus station at 2 mins to the apartment!
We stay like home. Thank you very much Chee!!
We had a pleasant stay at Cheener's place. She's a very kind host and was very helpful.
The apartment is very spacious and confortable. Although a little far from the old town, the Tram stop is very close to the apartment, so it's very easy to come and go. It's located on the third floor of a building with NO ELEVATOR, so be sure you will be able to carry your lugagge up. There are some supermarkets and restaurants on the neighbourhood as well.
Her cats are also very sweet and gave us no trouble at all!
I would recommend Cheener's place for someone spending some days in Amsterdam!
The location is quite good, there is 2 trams from Dum square (5 mins from Central Station). Install the GVB app, it is very useful. Also there is a cheap supermarket 2 mins from apartment. Overall stay and meeting by Cheener's friend was excellent. Strooongly recommended!
l'appartamento è molto accogliente, luminoso e funzionale.
We had a really good time at Cheener's place. Her apartment is cozy and well designed. It is spacious and bright. Although it is not in the center of Amsterdam, you and easily reach the central station or city center by bus or train. The most important thing is that we really love the two cats!! They are the sweetest creatures I've ever encountered. We miss them already. Hopefully we can see them again if we had the chance to back to Holland. Cheers!
Chee was a delightful host, offering us plenty of advice and helping us when we needed it. Her apartment is very lovely, comfortable and located in a nice area that all the sights of Amsterdam are easily accessed from! A great place to recharge as well as see the sights. Thank you Chee for the wonderful stay!

Hi I am Chee but better known as Cheener for friends. I'm 37 years old with the ambition to never grow up. I said to someone once (to the question why I leave 'relatively' strangers sleep and live in my house) that I love it that if you aren't able to travel, at least through new social media opportunities such as Home Exchange, Airbnb and providing couches to surf on, you are welcoming the world to your house. And I really like this thought! I love traveling and I also have been home exchanging and surfing for quite some years already, befriended a lot of great people, seen great houses and lifestyles. Basically I enjoy the trust, hospitality and to actually feel at 'home' in another place.
So if you treat my home as it would be your own, you're most welcome. And if you are nice to my cats, I'm nice to you :).
I'm not only in it for the money but mostly for memorable experiences and encounters. The profits of my Air BnB rentals goes to traveling the world and enables me to do more voluntary work.
Besides that I am redecorating a small little vacation house just 10 minutes from my house where I intend to grow my own vegetable, fruits and brew my own gin :) So when there is produce I am happy to share it with you guys.
I know Amsterdam pretty darn well and would recommend things that locals do and go to. Also I am totally in love with my own hood! Having said that of course I know my way through touristy Amsterdam. I am flexible, hospitable, know how to solve a problem or a challenge if you have one and I am great at cooking up all sorts of itineraries and if you are lucky and it's a good timing, I can also literally cook pretty well.
I work in the creative industry, a cultural omnivore who hops from creative agencies, to museums and music festivals. Just search engine Cheener and you'll find out more about me.
Looking forward to meet you.
