The Space

Our apartment is unique in that it is set in a peaceful garden setting yet is only 5/10 mins walk down the hill into the centre of Clonakilty, a buzzing small town with many great cafes, pubs, hotels, art centre, music sessions etc.

Guest Access

your apartment is totally self contained, set in our large back garden which we are happy to share with you, sea views from the front garden are stunning.

Interaction with Guests

myself and husband Tom and son Fergus live in the main house, how much we interact with guests is your call. If you want a quiet, uninterrupted stay we will show you around apartment and leave you to it, however our door is always open and am more than happy to share local knowledge, directions, etc.

The Neighborhood

Clonakilty is a vibrant small coastal town with a long standing music tradition. There is live music in most pubs throughout the Summer, and in 3/4 regular venues during the Winter months. There's a great farmer's market every Fri. with delicious local produce, buskers and great coffee !

Getting around

There are regular buses from Cork city, these travel through Clon. and continue further West to Skibereen, Schull and Golleen. There is guest parking on site. From Cork airport drive West, through Bandon to Clonakilty. Drive to town centre, at Astna Square head right up McCurtain Hill. Continue up this hill, you will pass the Garda station on your right, carry on up hill until you see a sign on the left for Kilty Cycle Repairs , just after this on the left you will see a row of cottages we are the first one on the left, painted cream with red doors and windows. Our driveway is steep.

  • I stayed at the apartment for about two weeks, really liked it very much, it was clean, nicely furnished and decorated and had all the equipment you need. Brigid and Tom were excellent hosts, nice and friendly, they asked me to join them one evening for a pub-session (they were singing and playing), and I really enjoyed it. Clonakilty is a lovely town with many cafes, pubs etc. I recommend going to Inchidoney Beach, which is not far from Clon., about 3 kilometers. Renting a bicycle is also a good idea, though the hills are sometimes really a bit exhausting...! to explore the surroundings... there's a guy just beside Brigid's Place who rents bikes... I'd definitely recommend the place!

  • Brigid is friendly and welcoming. The cottage perhaps needs some attention and maintenance. In particular the mattress is quite old and uncomfortable. Access into the driveway is tricky.

  • The apartment was lovely and suitably furnished. Brigid was really helpful and gave me really good directions and advice before I arrived. Brigid came and picked me up from the bus stop and made it clear to me that they were available if i needed anything in the apartment. They provided me with butter, cheese, bread and milk which was brilliant for when I first got there.
Clonakilty is lovely town and I'd definitely advise taking a walk to Inchydone beach which is absolutely beautiful, even maybe treat yourself to a spa treatment at the hotel.

  • Had a great time in Clonakilty! Bridget was a great host, made r very clear if we needed anything we could come knocking. Cottage had everything you could need including washer and dryer. Left food for breakfast which was great to have. We had a great time travelling around and listening to the rain and wind in the evenings :). Will definitely come again :)! Thanks a million!

  • Brigid and Tom were awesome hosts. Their cozy cottage included everything we needed for a long-term stay, plus some wonderful extras…fresh eggs and bread, a visit from Brigid bearing new linens, a generous ride to the bus stop on our day of departure and a night we'll never forget with them at DeBarra's Pub, where they played beautifully in a trad session. They made our stay in Clonakilty memorable and special.

  • Brigids cottage is lovely, tucked away from the main house in the garden. It was warm and welcoming when we arrived and very cosy for the night. The kitchen is well equipped and the breakfast left for us to cook was lovely. Will definitely be returning!

  • This is a great little cottage for romantic getaways or for those who want to escape the city and/or technology (no tv and no wireless internet). It was just what my boyfriend and I needed!

The bed is comfy, the bathroom is spacious, and the helpful & hospitable hosts kindly left some breakfast food for us (deliciously creamy Irish butter, eggs, bread, tea, etc.).

FYI, the 10-min walk to the little town at night is quite the adventure as the roads are winding and quite dark!

This is definitely a treat for people who want to experience the Irish countryside and/or small town Ireland.

    Response from Brigid:

Thanks for lovely review Kathleen, and sorry you didn't get your wifi going. We have sorted this problem now, the booster system needed resetting .

  • We were very happy with the accommodation and Brigid & husband were very welcoming. This was our 1st stay at a B&B while travelling and it was a pleasant experience, handy to the town and other areas we visited.

  • Brigid and Thomas were not only good hosts in their lovely accommodations, They were so helpful with information about Clonakilty, entertainment and other things I needed. Also their cottage is a bit outside of Clon and thus, quiet, restful surrounded by pretty countryside and beautiful views. I would highly recommend them to stay with when you are in Clonakilty

  • Staying with Brigid was fantastic - I'd definitely recommend.

Based perfectly for spending time in clonakilty, Brigids apartment was really lovely. More spacious that it looks in the photos, there's a full kitchen, a double bed (very comfy), and a bathroom with a shower.

Brigid even left us some bits for breakfast across the couple of days we spent there - which was completely unexpected and wonderful.

Really cannot recommend highly enough - Brigid and Tom were lovely hosts; and very accommodating in staying up for us to drive down from Dublin in order to give us out key and show us around.

Really hope we'll have an opportunity to stay with Brigid and Tom again.
