Interaction with Guests
myself and husband Tom and son Fergus live in the main house, how much we interact with guests is your call. If you want a quiet, uninterrupted stay we will show you around apartment and leave you to it, however our door is always open and am more than happy to share local knowledge, directions, etc.
Clonakilty is a vibrant small coastal town with a long standing music tradition. There is live music in most pubs throughout the Summer, and in 3/4 regular venues during the Winter months. There's a great farmer's market every Fri. with delicious local produce, buskers and great coffee !
There are regular buses from Cork city, these travel through Clon. and continue further West to Skibereen, Schull and Golleen. There is guest parking on site. From Cork airport drive West, through Bandon to Clonakilty. Drive to town centre, at Astna Square head right up McCurtain Hill. Continue up this hill, you will pass the Garda station on your right, carry on up hill until you see a sign on the left for Kilty Cycle Repairs , just after this on the left you will see a row of cottages we are the first one on the left, painted cream with red doors and windows. Our driveway is steep.
pets allowed, mutual respect a good policy I think.
The cottage is nicely set up and is a nice spot to discover the area from. The kitchen is well equipped and the heating very efficient. But it could have done with being aired a bit before our arrival as there was a lingering smell of dampness all through our stay. Tom was very nice and came to our rescue when we had problems with the shower and fixed it right away. Overall we had a lovely time there.
Brigid and her husband were very friendly and helpful. The cottage itself is a great little spot, a quiet place with all the necessary amenities for shorter and longer stays and ideal for exploring Clonakilty and the surrounding areas.
We had a lovely stay in Brigid's - it's a sweet little house for a couple, and so quiet there but still only 10 mins walk into town.
I was worried it might be a little cold but the heating was great - half an hour had the place nicely warmed up, so it was handy to set the timer knowing we'd arrive home late in the night.
Brigid herself was away during our stay but made sure we were ok with directions and her son showed us in when we arrived.
Brigid was really easy to get in touch with before hand and kindly passed on contact numbers for her husband and son as she wasn't going to be around when we checked in. Bread, butter and milk for tea were left for us which such a lovely touch. the cottage itself was perfect for our short stay, and only 10 mins downhill walk to Clonakilty.
Wow , what a wonderful town full of beautiful friendly people/
Tom was very welcoming and helpful ,couldnt do enough for myself and my daughter ,lovely little cottage .
Many thanks cannot wait to go back next year.
Thank you Tom kindess regards Suzanne
