This 3 story house is 50 meters from the progressive Abbot Kinney Bl, and it is 600 meters, straight down Winward to the heart of the Venice Board Walk. Your room is a minute bike ride to the beach, but far enough away for peace of mind. You are in walking distance to Main Street, lower Santa Monica, Venice Canals, Venice Pier, buses, taxi's, shops, restaurants. For your morning coffee or tea, Intelligentsia is a stones throw away. This flat is on the West side of Abbot Kinney, just off Winward. Goldilocks would find this local, just right.
The beauty about this space is that it is so close to all that Venice, Santa Monica, and Marina Del Rey has to offer... yet it is tranquil, hip, and beautiful. I used to live in an apt just off the boardwalk and its flat out crazy there and I can write from experience that 'this is the way to do Venice'.
It is an all natural house hold. All cotton linens, towels, no chemical cleaners or fragrances. Water filters are provided for drinking and showers. Enjoy the wireless internet, queen bed, and small desk / work station in your room; and you have access to a printer if you need it. You also have a small outdoor patio just outside your room.
As for you host, Matt makes a raw superfood line of mylks, puddings, and skin cream. Visit his site, thefeelgoodlounge. He also performs stand up, takes improv and writing classes.....Matt also loves to play tennis.
p.s.- there are 5 bikes available to guests. Parking: it is street parking, plus sharing of a private space if needed. Street parking is plentiful, just out front or in back of the flat. The only caveats are street sweeping for 2 hours on Mon / Tues, and it gets tight on Sat and Sun from 12 to 6. With a little local knowledge, parking is easy. Every evening is wide open.
Bikes, Lounge Room, Backyard and Limited Kitchen use. DIY breakfast, including complimentary: fresh fruit, oatmeal, teas, coffee, on demand boiling and drinking water are provided. Refrigerator and toaster also accessible.
Interaction with Guests
After check in, guests might run into me in the kitchen or if Im working in the backyard.
Beautiful, artistic homes and tree lined streets make the immediate area a treasure. A 5 minute walk puts you on the Venice boardwalk or canals. Abbot Kinney is a stones throw away, so you've got some of LA's best cafe's, restaurants, and boutiques just around the corner.
There is so much to explore on foot and bicycle (complimentary), and there are numerous bus stops, including Star Line bus tours, with in a 5 minute walk from the house, that will take you anywhere in LA.
Other Things to Note
You may request samples of my sprouted almond mylks and superfood puddings and they are available for sale.
Welcome to a slice of historic Venice. The blue bungalows were built in the early 1900's on the original canal network. Please walk gingerly up the spiral stairs and be mindful of other guests and neighbors. Complimentary food and drink is located in the main lounge room, where you can also enter and exit the house and use bikes. I work hard to keep the house free of chemical detergents and fragrances and appreciate if you do too. If you leave house early or late, please use back door entry/exit. The spiral stairs are available from 9am to 9pm.
Matthew has a fantastic set up. We were more than comfortable. We loved the location and the use of bikes and breakfast was perfect. Highly recommend and would stay again. Matthew was attentive to queries and a great host. Thanks heaps.
This was my first airbnb experience and I could have not ask for a better host. Matt is super cool and I'm sure this won't be my last time staying with him. I loved the place and the location, one block from Abbott Kinney and less than 5 min to the beach.
Matthew welcomed me at the door, showed me to my room, explained all the amenities, and house "rules". He also gave me a wonderful history lesson of the area and suggestions for places to visit. The room was bright and airy, clean and comfortable, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with him.
Matthew was a great host, very friendly and made us felt welcomed! The room matched the discription and had a great view and bed. The neighberhood was very calm and situated perfectly between Abbot Kinney road and the Venice Beach. We highley recommend Matthews rooms!
We had a lovely stay at Matthews' place. The room and the house were clean and comfortable and with everything we needed. Matthew was a great host and gave us some very helpful recommendations. The location is perfect, just 10 min walk to the beach and a short walk to Abbot Kinney Blvd. Breakfast was good and we used either the small lounge area in the garden or our nice balcony. Absolutely great was also that we could use the bicycles as it was easy to cruise around Venice, Marina del Rey and Santa Monica. We would definitely come back if we stay next time in L.A. Thanks Matthew!
The place was great. Very quiet and comfortable. Wonderful light. And, the free use of bicycles is a real plus.
Matthew is always a wonderful host. It's a pleasure to stay n his place off Abbot Kinney. I love that he leaves wine and teas and other delectables out for the guests. Bicycles abound on the rear patio...
Every spic and span and pleasant. I welcome the next time. August perhaps?

About the Host, Matthew
I am 46 years old and have lived in Venice Bch for 11 years. I moved from the hyper-active boardwalk area, to what locals consider to be a most blissful spot in Venice Bch. Some call it the best street in Venice. The house is part of the original canal network and was once an original tourist bungalow. I make and distribute a line of raw / superfood puddings and sprouted almond mylks - from the house. You can learn more at thefeelgoodlounge dot kom. I am also studying and performing stand up comedy, improv, and taking writing -story telling classes.....oh, and I love to play tennis.
Industrial architecture and the ultimate pretentious coffee experience.
Gourmet brick over pizza and california cuisine. Long wait to get seated on weekends. Just a couple minute walk.
Health inspired cafe and restaurant. You can get a breakfast omelette or the latest in superfood elixirs. Progressive layout and styling.
Every Friday morning and just a 5 minute walk. Its a smaller market but you'll find fresh, seasonal produce, coffee trolly, and other goodies.

Take a nice walk through the canals to the Venice Pier and enjoy a cocktail and food at the Mercedes Grille. There are a few other options in the area as well.
About a 1/4 Kilo / mile north of Winward on the boardwalk, you will find some new and nice restaurants and cafes, including the Venice Ale House.
This is the large super market in the area. It is a 25 minute walk, a 10 minute bike. They have lots of prepared foods along with groceries, and it the US's branded 'healthy' grocery store.
This smaller health food store is a 20 minute walk down Main St. Fresh organic juices, deli, superfoods, produce. You will pass a CVS pharmacy on the corner of Rose and Main.

This is just south of the Santa Monica Pier. I love going for their live jazz in the evenings. The foyer space is stunning, with views of the SM pier and ocean. Great place for wine, cocktails, etc
Take a drive and then a hike through this historic and beautiful park. Horse stables, polo field, grass and picnic area's, and lots of cool hiking trails that lead to beautiful views of the ocean.
You'll need a rig to get to this beautiful and spiritual oasis. Its so beautiful, the park hosts Ghandi's ashes. Take a chill out in the meditation hut and enjoy a stroll around the beautiful lake.
Enjoy the beautiful architecture, gardens, and masterpieces. Entrance is free, but there is a $15 parking fee. It is about an 1 1/2 bus ride or 25 minute drive. You can bring a lunch and picnic.
Do you like Will Ferrell, or the late Phil Hartman. Many SNL members got their start here. The shows are great and the improv actors are top notch. I like the late friday improv only show.
The views steal the show here, unless you are an astronomy fanatic. Views are panoramic and include the Hollywood sign. Lots of hiking trails as well,
