The Space

Greetings;

SnapShot: Property is located on Historic, Original Canal network on one of the coolest streets in Venice. Private Room, Private en suite Bathroom, Private Balcony, Private Entrance, Private Floor. All Natural Household, water filters for drinking and showering, free use of bikes...Truly Ideal Location.

This 3 story house is 50 meters from the progressive Abbot Kinney Bl, and it is 600 meters, straight down Winward to the heart of the Venice Board Walk. Your room is a minute bike ride to the beach, but far enough away for peace of mind. You are in walking distance to Main Street, lower Santa Monica, Venice Canals, buses, taxi's, shops, restaurants. For your morning coffee or tea, Intelligentsia is a stones throw away. This flat is on the West side of Abbot Kinney, just off Winward. Goldilocks would find this local, just right.

The beauty about this space is that it is so close to all that Venice, Santa Monica, and Marina Del Rey has to offer... yet it is tranquil, hip, and beautiful. I used to live in an apt just off the boardwalk and its flat out crazy there and I can write from experience that 'this is the way to do Venice'.

It is an all natural house hold. All cotton linens, towels, no chemical cleaners or fragrances. Water filters are provided for drinking and showers. Enjoy the wireless internet, queen bed, and small desk / work station in your room; and you have access (email hidden) hub (computer / printer / fax / scanner) if you fancy it. You also have a small outdoor patio just outside your room.

I (Matt), make a raw food product line for a local natural foods stores in the LA area. I try to give tastings to all my guests and have more info on my website, thefeelgoodlounge.

p.s.- there are 5 bikes available to guests. Parking: it is street parking, plus sharing of a private space if needed. Street parking is plentiful, just out front or in back of the flat. The only caveats are street sweeping for 2 hours on Mon / Tues, and it gets tight on Sat and Sun from 12 to 6. With a little local knowledge, parking is easy. Every evening is wide open, as well as all weekdays.

Complimentary breakfast: oatmeal, raisins, coffee, teas, fruit.

Guest Access

Kitchen, Lounge, Laundry, Bikes, Backyard.

Interaction with Guests

After check in, guests might run into me in the kitchen or if Im working in the backyard.

The Neighborhood

Beautiful houses all around, on tree lined streets. A 5 minute walk will put you in the canals, which is a beautiful place to walk and Abbot Kinney Blvd. is a 1/2 block away, and it has some of America's hippest restaurants and boutiques (according to GQ magazine ;-)

Getting around

There is so much to explore on foot and bike, but there are numerous bus stops with in a 5 minute walk from the house, that will take you anywhere in LA. There are 5 complimentary guest bikes as well.

Other Things to Note

Kitchen notes and features: On demand hot, cold, and room temp filtered water. Kitchen is petite and best for simple preparation, i.e. steaming veggies or boiling water. There is a toaster, no microwave.

  • I stayed at Matthew's place for around one week. It is quite easy to walk to the beach from this place, and there are also bikes in the house. I had a few nice chats with Matthew. It was never boring to chat with him. Because I was looking for a apartment, Matthew was kind enough to offer me his help to make the transition really smooth. In general, I would recommend any traveler to consider this place.

  • Matthew´s place is cool! It´s small, but enough and very clean. Big plus is the location, just 5 minutes away from Venice Beach and the opportunity to rent a bike for free is even better! We´ve seen Matthew only once, but he seems like a very easy goind person! I would definitely recommend his place!

  • Matthew is wonderful! The room is perfect, bright, quiet, cozy and it is in the best part of l.a. Venicebeach is 5 min away and the abbot kinney road 1 min. there are lovely cafés and restaurants and many shops. I love this place. I'll be back and I would recommend this place whenever traveling to Los Angeles.

  • Matthew is a lovely host, very kind and obliging. Booked all of our transport needs without us even asking. Excellent location, so close to everything for a super chill break. Great restaurants, coffee shops and shops galore close by. We'll be back!

  • It feels like having your own house up in the palm trees - very relaxing and comfortable! Mathew is a very nice and ambitious host and supplies excellent food stuffs. Also the location is very good - rather quiet but still close to both the beach and bustling hipster-street Abbot Kinney.

  • Perfect spot for a chilled out LA experience. Venice's famous canals, "walk streets," and beaches are all a pleasant stroll from the house, and Santa Monica is a lovely bike ride up the coast - with the bikes included! Being a block from Abbot Kinney is also a great bonus, and having Intelligentsia a few paces from our doorstep made this coffee fan very happy!

The room is clean, sunny, and bright, and the house is welcoming, full of little nooks to hang out and have tea in.

Matthew is helpful, friendly, sweet, as well as a sage of healthy living options in the area. You're gonna love it here!

  • So close to Venice and Santa Monica. My wife and I did 4 days in LA with no car and it was great. Walked and biked everywhere. The upstairs room is private, and has a bathroom and porch. Matthew was great too - got us set up with bikes, and made us some healthy raw smoothies.

  • We had a very pleasant stay at Matthew's place:
    - nice clean room
    - good privacy
    - great location in Venice
    - bikes available

He recommended us some restaurants etc and offered fresh fruit in the mornings. He even saved us a parking ticket :). A very good host.

We would surely recommend his place whenever traveling to Los Angeles.

  • Loved staying at Mathews place. Its in a really nice part of Venice and since I had the uppermost room it was like a private little oasis on the top floor with its own private balcony area. Mathew was a great host. If you're visiting Venice I recommend staying with him. I never got a chance to use the bicycles but I wish I had.

About
Matthew, 46 yrs old, has lived in Venice Bch for 11 years. I moved from the hyper-active boardwalk area, into what he and many others consider to be a blissful spot in Venice Bch. The house is part of the original canal network (now filled in) and is considered a historic spot. "This area, this house, and guest rooms have something magical about them." Matthew is the creator and director of The Feel Good Lounge, which makes and distributes raw / super food puddings and drinks, and puts on radiant health classes (a divine mind and body lifestyle) and have a book idea called 'The Chocolate Sundae Paradox'. You can learn more about Matthews labor of love by visiting his website : thefeelgoodlounge. I am also performing stand up comedy, writing a solo show about my life story, taking tap dance lessons and love to play tennis.
