We have two private rooms available in our townhouse, located in Milford Auckland. You would be sharing our home; I am a young doctor and my partner is an IT consultant.
The room available via this listing is moderately-sized, and equipped with double bed, built-in wardrobe and shelving unit. The room would suit either a lone traveler or a couple.
You are most welcome to use the main lounge, dining and kitchen area, which are shared with us and any other guests we may have staying at the time. A spacious courtyard is located at the rear of the house with a lovely big deck, and is lovely to use in the good weather.
The lounge has a large TV and comfortable sofa. We have a good set up with DVD player, gaming consoles and computer attached to the TV, with many DVDs, movies and TV shows on hand - particularly useful if Auckland's weather isn't playing nice!
Our kitchen was newly installed in November 2013 and has all the essentials, including oven, cooktop and dishwasher. There is space in both pantry and fridge/freezer for you to store food as you wish. A built-in laundry with washing machine and dryer is also available.
The main bathroom is shared between the two rooms we rent out. It has a large shower, vanity and toilet. There is also a separate second toilet if required.
Our house is very well located in a suburb of Auckland's North Shore called Milford. We are down the end of a cul-de-sac so there is little traffic noise to disturb your stay!
Amenities such as supermarkets, cafes, buses and parks are within easy walking distance, so even if you don't have a car getting around isn't a problem.
Transport and amenities are easily accessible. The nearby bus station (2-5 minute walk) has frequent buses into downtown Auckland city, with some even running through the night. Shops and cafes are within walking distance. There are also several supermarkets within a 15min walk.
If you have a car, there is all-day free parking in the street which is very safe, and there is easy access to the motorway on-ramps.
Getting from Auckland International Airport is very easy. There are a couple of options, depending on your budget. The cheapest option is via the bus - there is a special ticket from the Airport to North Shore called the "Northern Flyer" which allows you to catch the Airbus into downtown Auckland and then any bus coming over to the Shore; you get off at Smales Farm station and our home is a few minutes walk from there. This ticket costs $18pp one way, or $30 return. Alternatively, if you would prefer not to mess around with bus travel, there are many shuttle services which will pick you up from the airport and bring you to our door - Super Shuttles is one of the best. If you use Super Shuttle, this option will set you back $44-50 for 1 person, or $53-59 for 2 people, one way.
Jessica was a very lovely host who was both very polite and accommodating, as well as being very respectful towards the privacy of the guests. The room was clean, well-sized, and very comfortable. And all the amenities in the home - bathroom, WiFi, kitchen - were all solid. Even with the light construction being done while I was there, it was a very homey experience.
As a note, the house is a distance away from downtown Auckland. (This is actually kind of nice, because it's a calm, quiet neighborhood.) Luckily, it only takes five to ten minutes to walk to the main bus station. However, if you plan to spend time in the city proper, you'll want to budget yourself an extra $9 per day for bus fares.
On the whole, I felt very comfortable and welcome here! Much recommended if you'll be in the Auckland area!
Jess was a lovely host. The house and room are very clean and tidy. Good regular transport links to the CBD. Would recommend this place to stay!
Jessica was very friendly, helpful and made me feel welcomed In her home. She offered help when I enquired what was the best way to get to places in the area? I forgot my cell phone plug and she provided me with one, that was a huge help. I was able to park my car on the street for free and it was safe to do so. A brand new kitchen has been installed and it was great to use. I was able to launder my clothes, which helped as unfortunately Auckland turned on 4 days of rain during my visit, I was there to caddy in a golf event for 5 of those days! The apartment is very well located, only 3 minutes from Takapuna golf club, which was $28 for a round and it was 13 minutes from the North Shore 27 hole golf club. The room and apartment is clean and the photos are accurate, it is a great location. Book your room with the confidence that you can go to Auckland and not have to worry about your accommodation, the property is near the end of a no exit street, so no traffic noise to interrupt your peaceful nights sleep. WIFI was available, which I enjoyed using. The room has great wardrobe space and shelving. Thank you for a great week long stay.
For our first week in New Zealand, everything went well at Jessica's house. She is a very good host, she and her boyfriend are really discreet and let you feel at home. The room is as it is on the photo, comfortable and nice. The house is well located, 10 minutes walk to the bus station. We would recommend a stay there !
This was my first stay in New Zealand and the hosts were very friendly. I was given suggestions on what I could do on my visit to Auckland.
Jessica and James were very friendly and discrete. The apartment is very well located and you can go to the supermarket, bank, postoffice or restaurant without car. The room and apartment is clean and really like the photos. Our two weeks was a pleasure to be here. Thanks you to
