You win some, you lose some. I wasn't too pleased with our stay. The pool was dirty, the host wasn't kind and overall it made for an uncomfortable stay.

Nice villa in a quiet area not so far away from restaurants, shops and the beach. We had five beautiful days in Sanur.

This is my favourite place to stay in Sanur, it is my second time staying at this villa. The location is great, just behind one of the main roads in Sanur (grocery store and restaurants are all in walking distance) and is tucked away, so it's nice and quiet. The property has everything you need for a comfortable stay, a well-equipped kitchen, pool, large comfortable rooms, well functioning AC etc. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The room was big and clean, the AC isn't very efficient so needed to keep on all day to cool the room. The pool was cold, but could use a good cleaning. Basic kitchen with all the utensils and dishes you need to cook your own meals. The host let us check out late so our son could have a nap which we really appreciated. The grounds outside the homestay are covered in trash, this is not his property but if it was cleaned would add some appeal. Also, the entrance to the garage needs repairing as it is very difficult to walk up with your bicycle. No signage so can be difficult to find if you're unfamiliar with the area. Location is good to visit shops and good restaurants, 5 minutes bike ride to the beach. Has potential to be great with some improvements.

Response from Agus:
"Thanks Jennifer for your feedback :) I will however add some details. About the AC as I told you a few times, it is more efficient to close the glassdoor to cool the room. You can turn on the biggest AC possible, with the door open, it's useless... But I saw many time your door full open and can feel the fresh air from the air con going outside and no stayed in the room :-) About the entrance garage I told you by email that we're doing some work right now. And the workers stop to work when a guest is at the villa to be sure there's no inconvenience for you it mean no noise and more confort no stranger in the house I always try to respect the silence and doing the best for all :-) Finally about the access, I agree with you, the signalisation of the street is "relative" in Bali. That's why I sent you a map by email before your check-in which allows you to arrive without difficulties :)"

To arrive at Agus's , I first walked alongside 400 meters++ of garbage. A partially active landfill with a couple cows on it. I did not see a worse location in Sanur. Open dirty garbage was at Agus's garage door, which is the entry! A sleepy headed ,slightly gruff Agus, gave a quick review, telling me that NO TOILET PAPER goes in toilet. EVERYTHING IN A BUCKET! One that did not even have a plastic bag in it. YUCK. There were no towels, no soap, and about 4 squares of toilet tissue! Called him, no reply found another guest to help.Shower knob broken. The bed was the minimal, as was the one throw like a sarong that was meant to cover me, and it needed washing. Breakfast was a basket on the counter with green, unripe, hard bitter bananas, uneatable. He shouldn't have bothered .Because it was ZERO. Unfortunately I had paid 2 nights. Morning departure, I SHOOK HIS HAND, said goodbye! He walked in the opposite direction, maybe to see if I stole his bed, and that was it! I left, looking at the same garbage! The good points , the floor and fitted sheet were clean. I saw youth hostels and homestay for the same or less in price that were far better. Beware, this is not what I expect to find using AIRBNB. And I am well known as a low maintenance person.

Response from Agus:
I barely had the pleasure to talk with Patricia. She went straight to the room when she arrived and locked herself in. Not the best start! I just remind the situation she asked for come early in my home and yes I did a mistake I gave her the room before the normal check in time all my fault i wanted please some one and now is my fault. After gave her the password for the wifi and explain some stuff about the house she sclosed the door and also the curtains. I was thinking she tired or sick so i ecided not bother her with more chat I have to admit the street was not in the cleanest condition as the garbage trucks didn't pass this day because of a ceremony. This situation was the same for the whole city and for the other hostels cheaper than my place that Patricia knows but didn't book... About the breakfast, well I don't say I provide breakfast. I offer coffee, tea and fruits to my guests. I'm a bit surprised to read that the 4 different kind of fruits that were this day were green... The other guests ate them and didn't tell me anything about it. For the toilet, my house is a traditional balinese house and this point is explained on the house rules. Using the garbage bin is something usual in Asia and Bali, and the cleaning lady comes every morning and doing the full clean up bathroom and bed room. During the day i cross plenty of time Patricia and she never did any request or comment about some toilet paper missing or towel or some king of disagreement about anything. She decided to wait the next morning and call me by phone at 7h30 am and trew front of the door the empty roll of toilet paper the best kind of communication to stay angry.... I do my best for my guests, and the majority seems to enjoy their stay in my place smile emoticon however I'm not a magician and can't change the mind to someone who decides to have a bad experience even before arriving. And seem normal when someone check out to do a quick review in the room just to make sure she forgot anything in the room. I hope Patricia, who still spent the second night in my place that looks so horrible, enjoyed the rest of her stay in Bali smile emoticon And never mind we still keep smiling and feel happy to share your and our experience about Sanur and Bali Host Eat and Pray

It's quite hard to find the place but Agus' directions were spot on ! For the price we paid - we managed our expectations accordingly
