Queen size bed, private bathroom & garden/deck entrance. Fantastic neighbourhood that is just 1-2 blocks to beach & paddle centre, coffee, bus, yoga, sports rentals, shops, grocery, restaurants. 7 blocks to hospital.Mini kitchen well equipped for vacation needs. Wifi/tv/netflix. Beach towels and chairs provided. 3 km (mostly bike path) to downtown. Free parking on street.

The space

Ideal location, South Pandosy neighborhood is best in Kelowna, trending from small war homes to town homes, packed with restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, shops & boutiques.

Kelowna in the summer is a playground for golf fanatics, beach lovers, downhill and cross country mountain bikers (check website for Mountain Bike Central Okanagan), road biking (bike paths everywhere!), easy to difficult hiking and rock climbing, casual nature and lakeside or Mission Creek Greenway walks, and roller blading on the recreational pathway . Kelowna's #1 voted yoga studio is just behind my house (Moksha). Public tennis courts 3 blocks away, bird sanctuary 4 blocks. Sports Rent is one block from my house for bikes, roller blades, etc. And don't forget the winery tours -- this is Napa Valley in the North!

Lake sports? Kelowna Paddle Centre 2 blocks away.
5 minute drive to wind/kite surfing beach, family beaches, "body" beaches, and 2 minute walk to small neighborhood beach -- beautiful sandy shallow weed-free (usually!) swimming. 15 minute drive to small boat club for rowing/sculling and sailing lessons. Downtown you can rent ski boats, jet skiis.

In the winter, skiiers and snowboarders couldn't be happier. Virtually guaranteed fresh powder every few days. 1 hour drive to Big White Ski Resort (or 2 blocks to shuttle bus!) and Nordic Ski & Snowshoe Club (McCullogh), 25 minutes to Telemark Cross Country and snowshoe trails or Crystal Mtn 'junior' ski hill, 70 minutes to Sovereign Lake Cross Country (national training centre) and Silver Star Ski Resort, 90 minutes to Apex Mountain. Yes, 4 ski mountains within 30-90 minute drive.

Skate on downtown's public free outdoor skating rink, or check out a Kelowna Rockets hockey game, where NHL players Shea Webber, Josh Gorges, Luke Schenn, Alexander Edler, and more got their start as teenagers.

Restaurants with 1-3 blocks: Zabb Thai, Chutneys Indian, Misu sushi, Original Joe's, Mission TapHouse, Mexican, and of course Subway! Within 3-6 km: RauDz (deluxe!), Micro-Bar, Earl's On Top, Bichon, Eldorado, & many more. For the best breakfast in town The Bohemian Bagel Cafe. Or save money with groceries: Lakeview Market (2 blocks), Urban Fare (3 blocks) or Save On Foods (4 blocks). Coffee shops: Bean Scene (the best!), Bread Company (1 block), Marmalade Cat Cafe (2 blocks), Blenz (2 blocks), Starbucks (3 blocks).

Knit/crochet? Best yarn shop in I think all of the northwest is 1 block away.

Weather - in July/August you'll be thankful I have air conditioning. We are the only semi-arid desert area in Canada, with temps around 30-38 celsius (80-100 F). In the winter you can tolerate my 22 celsius gas heated house (18 at night) or boost the heat with your personal electric floor boards. Temps outside are typically -5 to 10 Celsius, but have been known to hover around -10 or dip to -30 for days to satisfy the ice wine gods. I knit so I have extra toques (hats) and scarves if you need them!

Haved I missed anything??!! Ask me.

Guest access

Private entrance with house key via relaxing, treed, backyard garden. Deck, patio & comfy deck chairs right outside your door. Adjoining laundry room (washer/dryer is shared with me) has mini 'kitchen' with mini fridge, toaster oven, kettle, microwave, electric skillet, hot plate, crock pot, rice cooker, Nespresso coffee machine & pods, dishes for your use (I don't provide breakfast). Everything you need for even a month stay.

$40 cleaning fee waived for stays of at least 4 nights. I don't clean during your stay, but have spare bed sheets if you need a fresh set.

Must tolerate my two cats, but we can close the door so they don't go in your room if you prefer.

Interaction with guests

I work full time, and prefer my privacy, but I'm very friendly and happy to check in with guests a couple times a day initially to make sure everything is going well.

I've personalized a number of maps for my guests showing bike routes, beaches, restaurants, shopping, and suggested driving/winery route.

I prefer independent guests but am always excited to tell you about my favourite spots, and so are my neighbour's! I've lived here 27 years and done it all (almost!): road bike, mtn bike, hike, backpack, snowboard, cross country ski, roller blade, and kayak. And knitting! If you golf, I've got friends who can give you inside information! Not a wine expert, but I'm familiar with local wineries' characteristics.

Other things to note

Willing to discuss accomodating pets, but my cats take priority :)
Please limit use of perfumes, spray colognes and hairspray etc as many of guests have asked for a fragrance free room, and these things linger. If you must use them, please apply them outdoors, and please shower just before sleeping. Thanks -- I know it's a hassle but it makes a big difference.
Please do not keep or use illegal drugs onsite -- this is my home. On that note, while personal use of pot is legal, please don't store it, roll it, or use it in the room.

Cathy's place worked out great for me! She was a very nice hostess, the unit was clean and had its own private entrance. A short walk to the waters edge and tennis courts at one of several nearby public parks. Also only one block walk to restaurants and shopping. I would recommend this AirBnB and plan to stay again on a future trip.

Cathy is a a very nice, experienced host and good communicator. She gave us a great tip for a breakfast cafe nearby - the Marmalade Cat Cafe. We were not home a lot and didn't really hang out much on the very nice back patio and we didn't use the kitchen. But we could have. This room is more than a room. It's like a mother-in-law apartment with its own bathroom, kitchenette and and entrance. It offers a lots of privacy. Kathy is easygoing. We arrived at 12:30 am and arrangements for the keys were easy and efficient. Will gladly visit again!

The house was minutes away to grocery store, caffe, bicycle rental around corner, walking distance to beautiful beach. We love her place. Thank you very much Cathy. We would love back again.

I highly recommend staying with Cathy. She's a gracious host that has a beautiful, centrally located apt next to the lake that has all amenities. There's a grocery store, bicycle rental around the corner. I hope to come back a stay with Cathy again.

Great location in Lower Mission area of Kelowna. Very easily walkable to shops etc. along Pandosy and then to waterfront. Private entrance to Air BnB etc. Basically, everything one would need although there is no toaster or oven, but there is a microwave and fridge. I did try the toaster oven, but wasn't all that successful. Access in kitchen to washer and dryer which was much appreciated.

Response from Cathy:
Hi Carol, I had just fixed the lamp so sorry it went out again. And there were extra blankets in the closet. And I didn't know the toaster oven was a problem - if I had known I would have helped you out. My listing doesn't say there is a toaster, just a toaster oven. Hope you had a good visit otherwise, Cathy

I love living in the sunny Okanagan. We get all 4 seasons here, and I live right by the lake, surrounded by mountains. I mountain bike, kayak on the lake, cross country ski, and used to snowboard. I'm a rabid knitter at this point in my life.
