Sunny & spacious w/ private bath

Apartment - Private room · Baltic Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201, United States

Cute, comfortable room in one of the best neighborhoods in Brooklyn. We're a stone's throw from tons of great restaurants, bars, cafes and shops, a short walk to Brooklyn Bridge Park or Prospect Park, and just 3 subway stops from Manhattan.

The Space

It's a big 3 bedroom flat with hardwood floors, a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a washer and dryer (unheard of in NYC!), wireless internet, thermostat-controlled heating, AC in every room, and an outdoor terrace off of the living room.

Guest Access

The bedroom is furnished with a queen bed, a dresser and a large closet (with clean linens provided). A private bathroom is just across the hall. There is also a twin size air mattress available for a third guest.

The Neighborhood

We're right on the border of Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill and the neighborhood is amazing—you get all the perks of being in the city while also having a quiet, relaxing home base. We're walking distance to gorgeous parks, coffee shops, movie theaters, boutiques and all kinds of fantastic things to eat and drink: new American, ramen, Vietnamese, sushi, Mediterranean, brunch, Italian, bakeries, ice cream parlors, great cocktails, craft beer bars, and the best Thai in New York—check out my guidebook for more! The area is famous for tree-lined streets and picturesque brownstones.

Getting around

The Bergen F/G stop is a block away, and it's just 10 minutes into Manhattan, 20 minutes to the East Village/Soho/Union Square and 20 minutes to Williamsburg. We're also a short walk to the 2/3/A/C/R. Street parking is pretty easy if you have a car, and the area is great for biking (there are Citibike stations as well as shops where you can rent nearby).

Other Things to Note

I've been in this neighborhood for 3 years and couldn't be happier. I'm an editor at a local "things to do" magazine (and I bring home the new issue each week), so I can give you plenty of recommendations for restaurants, shows, museum exhibits, festivals and outdoor activities all over the city. My sister Charlotte (the other roommate) and I both work full-time so we'll be out of the house often, but I'll be here to help you get settled and I'm always available by phone, text or email. Looking forward to hosting you!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • I had a great stay at Carolyn's place! The apartment is extraordinarily well-located, just around the corner from the subway, a MET food store, a bagel place, a coffee shop, and just about every bar and restaurant in Carroll Gardens you'd ever need to visit. As for the apartment itself, the living room area is very spacious and gets lots of sunlight; it also has a small balcony. The kitchen looked nice, though I didn't have the chance to use it. The bedroom is rather large, with a comfortable bed and a plenty-big closet. And the private bathroom just down the hall was perfect.

Unfortunately my schedule during my visit was hectic, and I only got to meet Carolyn for a minute. However, she was flexible with check-in and check-out times, and made sure during my stay, via text messages, that I had everything I needed.

I love this neighborhood and enjoyed the apartment, so I would definitely stay here again.

  • Carolyn was super accommodating and the space is great. I wasn't around a whole lot, but the location is great with easy access to the subway and good coffee and restaurants withing super easy walking distance. The room was clean and comfy, everything you need in a place to stay in Brooklyn.

  • The space was exactly as advertised, and the location is great! Thanks so much.

  • Great neighbourhood - more places to eat and drink than you can shake a stick at. Large room with loads of space for my stuff, a clean bathroom all to myself, and super close to the subway.
Back catalogue of The New Yorker also very welcome.

only complaint would be that the room was a little cold, but then, the weather has been ridiculous.

  • I had a great weekend visiting in NYC, and staying at Carolyn's helped make that possible. The apartment is quiet, clean, and comfortable, and the neighborhood has so much to offer. I would stay here again.

  • Great place to stay, very close to Manhattan by the F train, the Station was not far away. Carolyn is a great person, very friendly and kind, she will help you and anything you need. The area was perfect as well as you can find very good places to eat or have a drink, and is quite safe too!! Definitively we recommend the place and Carolyn as a good host!!

  • Carolyn was a very communicative and accommodating host. She was great about getting me everything I needed, from a hairdryer and umbrella to an extra comforter given the chilly weather. The room was simple but clean (though not the room pictured). It is in the front of the apartment, so street noise was a little distracting, but it is overall a pretty quiet location. Having my own bathroom to use (though down the hall) was a huge plus. This is a great location in Brooklyn, in a quiet area that is nonetheless close to some good restaurants and bars, and right down the block from a great bagel place! I would definitely stay here again.

  • I stayed in Carolyn's apartment for two weeks. The apartment is exactly as described; comfortable and clean. The room is very spacious and the neighborhood is safe and close to restaurants and public transportation. Carolyn is an excellent host: always available and very welcoming. I definitely recommend the host and the place

  • I stayed here for four nights and it was perfect for my needs. The room was spacious clean, as was the rest of the apartment. Very close to the subway which made it easy to get around. Carolyn was very responsive to any questions I had. I'd definitely stay here again when visiting NYC.
