Interaction with Guests
When in Melbourne I am happy to suggest and share many of the 'secrets' that this city tightly holds away from the tourist eye. I work and spend a lot of time around the CBD so always very happy to help with any requests.
Collins Street is one of Melbourne's most beautiful streets with so many things to offer. Those that have been to Melbourne know, for all new comers I would suggest a quick web / wiki look at Collins Street and the surrounding area.
The apartment is surrounded by public transport options with 2 tram stops within 1 minute of the building entrance and major train stations within 5-10 minutes walking.
Enjoy the free tram zone all around the cbd from right outside the door!
Other Things to Note
This apartment is a TV free environment - yup there is no TV in the house! With all the things to see and all the things to do around the city I personally do not have time (nor have any interest) to watch TV and I would recommend you try and do the same during your stay!
May I suggest a nice bottle of wine on the terrace enjoying the city view instead? That would make a much more memorable experience.
Also please note: the apartment is set on top of a hotel building which also offers many rooms and suites in different shapes and sizes. Although this apartment is unique in its position, aspect, decor, view and use of outdoor space, if you are only concerned with location during your stay then you could have a look at the lower levels of the hotel building to see what other options are there.
No parties and no excessive noise. Please keep everything clean and tidy and leave the apartment in order.
This was perfect for our needs. We are frequent visitors to Melbourne and know the city well. We primarily selected this property because of its location on the 19th floor and wanted city views, and the views at night were excellent. The apartment was exactly as shown in the photographs, compact and well organised. We only prepared breakfast but the kitchen is capable of more. The deck, for exclusive use by this apartment is a genuine deck, large and with seating. It would be great in warm weather. Key collection with Coco went without a hitch. Overall, we got exactly what we were looking for: a high rise apartment with views with trams outside the front door and the train station only a five minute walk. There are excellent eating options nearby but nowhere is far away in Melbourne, particularly given that travel on trams in the CBD is free and frequent.
This was my first time using AirBnB and Coco's place was the perfect choice! He was extremely welcoming and made everything a breeze, especially when it came to me arriving early and needing an earlier check in. The apartment itself is breathtaking, waking up to the sunrise on the rooftop is bliss. I would highly recommend anyone staying here, I would 10 times out of 10.
Great apartment!! Love the view from the terrace. Excellent location close to the train station. Coco was a great host that looked after all our needs and helped us out when we left our key: thanks Coco
Lovely apartment just as in the photos. It's on the 19th floor , you have to walk up stairs to the top as the lift only goes to the 18th floor, but it's not a lot of stairs.
Once in the apartment you are up in the sky surrounded by Melbournes city scrapers, the view at night is beautiful and the sun deck is huge. Although I had plans to watch the sunset from the deck we never did in 3 nights as we were always out and about. Didnt miss the TV once- trust me you won't miss it!
Melbourne was alive on Labour Day weekend when we visited. Absolutely loved our stay, bars right opposite, 5 min walk to the river, laneways and fabulous shopping, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cocos apartment. He was the perfect host, gave us a late check out and met us at the door when we checked in.
The house and balcony were amazing! Coco was a wonderful host! Very accommodating and nice to deal with
I am a very picky traveler. I find fault, believe me, and I can honestly tell you this was the most awesome place I have ever stayed at. I lived in Melbourne for 35 years and actually worked two doors up from this hotel/apartment so I'm familiar with Melb. Coco met us at the apartment -- and hung around for us to arrive as we were late. He is charming and helpful and invited us to call at any time with any issue. There were no issues!! The apartment was clean and has brand new carpet. The bathroom is marble and clean. The bed is very comfortable and I slept like a log. The rooftop deck is beyond words. We had breakfast out there every day and drinks in the evening when it cooled off. The rooftop deck had sold this booking to me and I was not disappointed. It was insane. The views are 180 degrees across the city. Family and friends who visited were very impressed. We kept the curtains closed in the a.m. to keep the heat out. The airconditioner did a very good job of keeping the place cool, too. There is a plunge pool on level 3 which is bigger than you think and no one seems to use it. There's also a sauna and workout equipment. You can get buffet breakfast at the hotel, but there are so many wonderful eateries around, go walk and find one. We found one on Queen and Lt Collins that served eggs benedict and either coffee or freshly squeezed juice for $10!!! It was a classy cafe, too, so just look around and you'll find one. Melb is a coffee mecca. There are free trams out the front on Collins St. so you can get around a lot of the city for nothing. We caught it down to the Docklands area, which is all new since I've lived in Melb. It's only one block to the metro and interstate trains and bus system. We caught the SkyBus to the airport from Southern Cross station -- a 5-min walk with all our luggage -- and it's only $18 per person. Do not catch a cab! Traffic is horrendous and it will cost you $80. SkyBus will even pick you up and drop you off at the apartment if you arrange it in advance FOR FREE! Southern Cross station has a lot of shops and two supermarkets so get some food there and take it back to the apartment, which has a kitchenette, to cut down on costs. The dishwasher is a drawer-style and is underneath the cooker at floor level. Took us a day or two to find it. :) Can't wait to stay here again. This is my new home away from home every time I'm in Melbourne. Wouldn't stay anywhere else after Coco's place!
The location of the apartment is super - with the free trams right outside the door! 10 mins walk from the bus station with the direct sky-bus service to the airport.
Coco was there to greet us when we arrived and showed us to the apartment. The apartment was clean and tidy and the view from the balcony was great. A small problem on the 2nd day with the drain in the bathroom was fixed 100% within an hour of us calling him.
We had a great time and will be back! Thanks!
Creative director living in Melbourne and often found overseas and interstate. I love life in Melbourne's CBD and everything it has to offer: the laneways, the restaurants and bars, the ambiance and of course the people. My city base is set in a humble rooftop apartment that reflects everything I love about urban life. No matter what I may have been through during my hard working days or weeks, a few minutes on my terrace soaking the city around me gets me right back to normal.
After a recent visit to New York City I have decided to open and share my city base with like-minded travelers who may be looking for a unique, hidden city apartment that represents a lot more than just a roof over their heads. I hope you enjoy this humble Melbourne Pied-à-terre during your stay!
