This 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom midcentury modern home is located in the Valley of the Moon, Sonoma’s Wine Country. Located right between downtown Sonoma and Glen Ellen, this home is ideal for a wine country getaway. You will only be a 10 minute drive to downtown Sonoma and will be surrounded by some of Sonoma’s best wineries.
The house comfortably sleeps six adults and is also perfect for a family. With a modern kitchen, dining area, living room, two full bathrooms, and 3 bedrooms (each with a queen bed), this home has everything you will need while in wine country. There is a large backyard with a barbeque, a screened in porch for dining, and a small pond with a waterfall (there is also a resident frog that lives in the pond that we are sure you will see). We offer complimentary wireless internet access and cable TV. There is an air conditioner in the living room for those hot summer days. Just open the bedroom windows and the 'natural A/C will keep you cool at night.
The house is located in a friendly neighborhood and is easy to get to Sonoma and Glenn Ellen in only minutes. This is the country – there are even roosters that live next door (you will probably hear them cooing in the morning). It’s less than 5 minutes to some of Sonoma’s most popular wineries like BR Cohn, Benzinger, and Imagery.
When staying here, you will find yourself in the heart of Sonoma Valley Wine country. You will have plenty of restaurants to choose from both in downtown Glen Ellen and in downtown Sonoma. Along with touring wineries, make sure to check out the nearby farmers markets, olive oil tasting, and hiking and biking in Jack London Regional Park (only minutes away!).

William and Martin made us feel incredibly welcome. The Madrone House is beautifully decorated with a modern flair. With a brand new, stainless steel stove and a spacious kitchen, we made the most of the house with post-wine tasting dinners and casual breakfasts. William and Martin were very responsive to minor issues. We would highly recommend The Madrone House and would stay again.
We spent a lovely weekend in Sonoma staying in The Madrone House. The location is perfect. We immediately felt at home, and the house is conveniently located. William did everything possible to make us feel welcome. The house was stocked with everything we could need and we all 3 loved our bedrooms. I was there with my mom and sister, and I'm hoping to stay there with my husband and daughter next time we're in the area.
Madrone House proved to be a good place for getting together with friends and family in many ways. First, it was totally easy to get to from the city - only about an hour away from San Fran once you avoided rush hour. One night, friends came from San Mateo and we had a nice quiet dinner with them - and could cook easily thanks to gourmet grocery stores in downtown Sonoma just 10 minutes away. Another night, our sons and daughter-in-laws stayed overnight, and there was plenty of privacy and also room for hanging out for everyone, which we all enjoyed in between our adventures mountain biking and enjoying the local restaurants. Beautiful back yard as well.
William's cottage was just what we needed as a home base in Sonoma. The property was spacious and clean and had all the necessary supplies in the kitchen we needed to enjoy a home cooked meal w great local ingredients. William was gracious and allowed us an early check in so our daughter could nap and everything was smooth and easy. We'd definitely recommend this place to others coming to the area.
We loved our stay at the Madrone House. The location was absolutely perfect for us; we did a lot of exploring around Sonoma and could get around easily. The house was very clean and had all of the listed amenities. While there are many nearby restaurants, we ended up using the kitchen and cooking at home most nights (saving money to buy more wine!). William was great about contacting and replying to us and left clear instructions on everything. If we had one complaint, it was that ESPN wasn't included in the cable - we are huge college football fans and enjoy watching Game Day on Saturday mornings. All in all, that is very, very minor though! We would definitely stay at the Madrone House again and recommend it to our friends.
Great home! Had everything we needed! Wonderful host, made it very easy and very accommodating. I would definitely stay there again!
We loved William's house! It was open and bright and so easy to be in. Having three bedrooms was fantastic. We all loved the backyard. The location was great! It was easy to get to Sonoma, Glen Ellen, Kenwood, and Napa. We also had some non-vineyard fun at nearby Sugarloaf state park and Sonoma Traintown. I highly recommend this very special home!
