We love sharing our bush home and our simple healthy lifestyle, and showing people the good things Tasmania has to offer. We live in a stone and timber house on 55 acres of Wildlife Reserve, only 7 klm from Deloraine - on the way to Cradle Mountain, and 45 minutes from the Devonport ferry.

The space

We are only 7 minutes up a country road from Deloraine, and central to the north of Tasmania with both Launceston and Devonport 45 minutes away. Deloraine is a beautiful town, and the gateway to some good bushwalking. Cradle Mountain is a 1 hour 45 minutes country drive from here. We have the woodfire going in winter, cosy and warm.

The guest room is warm and light, north facing with French doors to outside, next to a country kitchen. You are welcome to use the kitchen or barbecue to cook meals yourself. We have a three person Far Infrared sauna available for a small fee, towels for sauna and shower (or hot bath) are supplied. A TV is provided with many movies for guests to watch in bed at night.

We love a good conversation, we love people. But we also respect people's need for privacy, and the need to relax and enjoy the quiet. We also offer alternative health therapies - detox Far Infrared saunas, healthy eating programs/weight loss, and Therapeutic Essential Oil massages.

We are 'alternative' in our lifestyle, so we don't have a microwave or a dishwasher, and are fairly down to earth and natural. We do love our uncomplicated life here, and love to share what we have with our guests - and do enjoy hearing their stories and ideas on life in return.

This whole area has a great community spirit, with a large population of artists and craft people living locally. Deloraine is a lovely place to spend some time, but is not far to Cradle Mountain and the Marakoopa Caves or other day trips. There are lots of short day walks in the area and interesting places to visit.

This is also a chemical free household, suitable for those with allergies or chemical sensitivities etc; we drink and shower in Tasmanian rainwater (no fluoride or chlorine) and use no chemicals to clean, and our food is mainly organic local produce. We hope you will come and enjoy our simple 'down to Earth' lifestyle.

Guest access

Our guest room is spacious and light, the kitchen is available to use for cooking meals and the dining room for eating or just relaxing. The lounge room is available to use, having a big TV and the wood fire is quite cosy. The bathroom is shared with us. The grounds outside with seating and BBQ area are for general use.

Interaction with guests

We are always around and can help with planning out your visits to local attractions. We are both qualified in doTERRA Aromatouch therapeutic Essential Oil massages. We offer a 45 minute oils massages (Aromatouch Technique) for $45 - very relaxing and healthy.

Matt and Tanya's place in the woods is so beautiful and exactly as they've described. It is like a little relaxation retreat with a real homey feel. If you are going during winter, it will be a little cold at night so bring some warm PJs! I would definitely recommend it and if you can make the time for a massage, sauna and bath because as soon as you get there you'll just want to try it all. Enjoy :)

Response from Matt And Tanya:
We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us Louise. Yes the oils massages are popular, Tanya and I massage each other quite often too :-) And the sauna warms you to the bones - love it in winter. Yes winter PJ's are the way here in Tassie, and we do have the wood fire roaring most of the time, that makes it cosy. We hope to see you back this way again Louise. Take care, Matt and Tanya.

Matt and Tanya are lovely hosts, as warm and inviting as indeed their place is. In spite of the zero degrees outside we were kept warm and toasty inside. They have a wonderful collection of clocks and antiques that add to the charm of this stone cottage. Would really recommend it for a romantic stay - even though I came with my son (he enjoyed it immensely). Highly recommended

We very much enjoyed our evening at Matt and Tanya's place - we only wish we could have stayed a bit longer (and maybe been there when the weather was a little warmer)! The hosts were incredibly gracious. Breakfast and conversation were wonderful. Recommendations for activities in the area were extremely helpful, too. Thank you for the lovely accommodations!

Pictures did not do Matt and Tanya'a house justice! It's an amazing place to experience, even for a night. The lovely dog and delicious freshly baked bread surpassed all expectations.

Thank you Cassie for your generous review. I love it when our guests feel at home and can relax, sorry I couldn't be there in the morning to chat. I hope the rest of you trip was enjoyable. It's so good to see friends travelling together and enjoying an adventure. Life is so short. Take care, Matt and Tanya.

We both appreciate the good life that Tasmania has to offer, and love the peace and quiet of the bush. We are into alternative health and well being, and offer a sanctuary for the 'weary traveler' or those that are in need of a place to escape from the pressures of everyday life. We are both qualified in the doTERRA AromaTouch technique, an essential oil application/massage, very therapeutic and relaxing. We love people and the exchange of ideas, and welcome those with alternate views on health, life and this amazing world we live in.
