The Space

A beautiful traditional cottage is available set in private grounds overlooking a tranquil lake. This is the perfect place to come and stay for those who love walking and the great out door's. There is no better to relax and get away from it all. The area is tailor made for the walking enthusiast, with a wide choice of winding roads, rolling hills and spectacular costal walkways, plus there are endless amounts of places to go if you love angling.

The cottage is open plan with timber flooring, a traditional turf fire and 2 comfortable bedrooms. Whilst staying here fishing permits will be available for you to use and you will have access to a cosy private bar ( smoking)

Whilst here why not do a bit of island hopping! The coast line here is dotted with off shore islands and island tours can be arranged. The area is also home to many beautiful beaches, the nearest one being Keadue Strand - perfect for a a leisurely stroll. The property is also conveniently located near the Donegal Airport which is only ten minutes away.

Island tours, sea angling, and diving can all be arranged at very competitive rates.

We are also Gay/Lesbian/TG/TV friendly.

If you have any questions please send me a message and I will happily get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks.

  • This was the highlight of our tour of Ireland. The place is very comfortable and Mario is a great host, available for a chat and good advice, but absent when we needed some time to ourselves. His private pub must be experienced. Donegal itself is a delight and the people very friendly (even by Irish standards). More people should come here!

  • Definitely a great place to stay. Mario was a fantastic host. We spent Easter weekend there. Perfect place for a two couples or a couple with kids. Very safe area. This area of Donegal has beautiful beaches and lots of traditional pubs with lots of places to eat and drink.

  • We had a fabulous time at Walker's Paradise Cottage! Mario left food for our arrival and made us feel so welcome. It's a lovely, clean, warm and private house with great views to the lake. The fire was brilliant. We also really enjoyed Mario's pub which is right beside the house and had so much fun chatting and having a few drinks with Mario, Renata and Chris. Couldn't have asked for a better or more friendly host! We will definitely return.

  • The rugged beauty of Burtonport only adds to the over all experience of staying at "walkers paradise". We found the accommodations clean, comfortable, and charming. The big tub was a hit after spending the days on the trails & coastline. Our host was a fountain of information from places to visit to the area's history. The pub- my personal favourite- was a warm, cozy respite. A place to share stories, laughs, political discussions and make new friends. Our one regret was we didn't get to hear Mario play fiddle at the barn dance scheduled for the next weekend. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at Mario's place. This is a vacation we will cherish for a lifetime.

  • We had a wonderful time at Walkers Paradise! Everything was perfect, a lovely place to stay and come down and enjoy the nature, the silence. The weather could have been better, but we had a great fireplace and enjoyed it very much sitting in front of it. The bathroom is really large and nice. Mario is a marvelous host. We had some Irish breakfast things in the fridge. He always had time for us, even he was very busy. The bar was fantastic, thank you for the nice talks and the music. On our last evening we had the chance to listen to his music with the Tractor Boys live in a pub, great time! We hope we come back again!!

  • Absolutely fabulous! Great views, the warmest of hospitality. Minutes from secluded *miles* of beach. Excellent kitchen and cooking facilities; very comfortable bed. Mario is a superior host who will do anything to help your stay be more enjoyable, including the use of his on-site shebeen!

  • Beautiful place and Mario is a wonderful host with a big open heart!

The days we spent at Walker's Paradise were the most relaxing we had in our wonderful holidays in Ireland. It was great to chat with Mario and his friends at his little bar around the corner till midnight (or was it a bit later...), to relax in front of a warming fire (thanks a lot for all that wood and turf!) and to see all the great places Mario told us to see (the local museum he and his Friends are about to run, the beautiful beaches, the lonely small roads and and).

The sad thing: holidays ends even in Walker's Paradise (and that far too fast!)...

  • It was totally wonderful! My daughter Jumi and me had a great time. It was raining sideways, the wind was bittely cold, but the fire in the chimney was burning brightly and the walks and views over islands and wild beaches were made us hungry. Typically irish = Great! Thank you Mario, you were a great host - time was to short - we will come back!

  • Mario was a great host! The house is located in a beautiful part of Donegal and caters for all your needs. Mario left complimentary, breakfast, chocolates and biscuits apon arrival as well as giving us Easter Eggs on our departure...Much appreciated Mario! The house also has a home built cosy pub attached where Mario and friends can be found chatting and/or playing music. There are many walks, beautiful beaches and rugged scenery to enjoy. Highly recommended!

I have been travelling to Spain for the last 10 years working (email hidden) for a company in Santa Pola. Times and business have change but i stilll love to go back for short stays. During the summer months i run a small tourist office for the islands, issuing boat tickets and selling tea/ coffee. My winter challenge is to improve my Spanish ......and to stay warm !!
