Lovely thatched cottage was ideal for our overnight stay whilst attending a wedding locally. The cottage was easy to find (just typed in kilgill on google maps and it brought us to the road where it is). Accommodating host: checkin time is 6pm but Caroline had organised a key for us earlier as we were going to a wedding. The room was good, nice apple pie and tea on arrival! Shower was powerful.
Breakfast was lovely too and we shared the table with some interesting German guests.
Caroline is a very friendly and relaxed host and her thatched cottage is a place worth seeing - so full of (family) history. We were welcomed with cookies and muffins on our bedside table, good some good nights of sleep, met very friendly people at the breakfast table and really enjoyed the atmosphere there during our stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Thatched Cottage! One feels like you're staying in a centuries old cottage, except you have all the amenities. The suites are a recent addition with brand new bathrooms and charming bedrooms. Breakfast was lovely. We sat family style with other couples from several different countries and had pleasant conversations. Caroline was so accommodating and pleasant and we even found we had a surname in common. Highly recommend.
Firstly it was amazing to stay in a thatched cottage in Ireland. The room is exactly as described. Plenty of room and all clean, neat and new. Great light from sky windows, which can become blocked out for sleeping in the morning. The bathroom is beautiful. Enjoyed great baths. Caroline was so great to meet and to chat to and very hospitable. A great breakfast was provided in the mornings ( Caroline even provided veggie sausages - thank you!) We looked forward to breakfast each day for the food and interaction. Charlie and Max the two dogs were very delightful too! The whole stay was so very enjoyable.
