Our cozy home is the perfect place to relax after a day at Disney or your conference! Our guest bedroom is nicely sized for two adults and one child. Enjoy access to the entire house, with wifi, TV, and an enclosed hallway wing to yourselves.
You have a complete entertainment system, with TV, DVD player, and Roku (which accesses Netflix, Hulu, Amazon movies, etc).
Watch the Disneyland fireworks from your backyard!
We hope you'll join us in our spacious 1956 home (built right after Disneyland opened its doors). You'll have a self-contained hallway to yourself, with a private bedroom, full bath, and a door that closes off the rest of the house if you like. This room is perfect for up to two adults, and a child accommodated on the loveseat*; it is too small for three adults. The bedroom has a queen sized bed and a loveseat, a TV with DVD player, antenna and Roku system with access to Netflix, Hulu, etc, and a ceiling fan (our house is also air conditioned).
*A note about the loveseat: the seat portion is 3'8" (1.2m) long, not including the arms. If your child is taller than this, they may not be comfortable sleeping the night on the loveseat. Emily (5'7") has taken many comfortable naps on the loveseat, but has never slept a full night.
We welcome you to use the kitchen and living areas, including the large backyard grill and fire pit, wifi, and a washer and dryer. We may be able to do some light grocery shopping for you before your arrival - please let us know in advance. We provide light snacks, tea and coffee. There is ample street parking on our block.
Interaction with Guests
We are frequent AirBnB'ers ourselves, and aim to be warm hosts, willing to converse and share mealtimes if you'd like, and happy to provide you with as much privacy as you prefer.
For those planning a trip to Disneyland, Tyler (a Disney cast member) can offer tips, tricks, and insider knowledge about the park.
Our neighborhood is clean, safe, and quiet (except for the Disney fireworks most nights). This is a residential neighborhood comprised mostly of identical, cottage-style 1950's tract houses. There is a green park with a nice playground at the end of our block. Every street has a sidewalk, and the roads are flat and well-maintained. We are car-close to downtown Fullerton and Old Towne Orange, both of which have great bars and restaurants.
We are one mile from Disneyland (a 20 minute walk or a 10 minute bike ride), and 2.5 miles from the front entrance of the Anaheim Convention Center (50 min walk/15 min bike). Other nearby attractions include Knott's Berry Farm, Angel Stadium, and the Honda Center. The bubble showing our approximate location isn't exactly accurate; we are northwest of Disneyland, near the corner of Crone and Walnut.
Getting Around While You’re Here
We’re in Southern California, home of the free-range automobile! We have a reputation for being car-centric, and it’s true: public transportation is minimal and can be frustrating to use.
With advance notice, we are able to rent you up to 2 bicycles - this will get you around the city much faster than our inconsistent public transportation.
Within the city of Anaheim, you can get anywhere using our bicycles, your feet, or a taxi cab. If you want to go anywhere outside of Anaheim (the beach, Los Angeles, San Diego), you should rent a car. We use Priceline to book rental cars when we travel. There is ample street parking on our block.
Traveling by Bus:
Disneyland: $2, 20 minutes, 0.8 miles of walking
Anaheim Convention Center: $4, 35 minutes, .8 miles of walking
Knott's Berry Farm: $2, 1 hour, 1.9 miles of walking
Our closest airports are Long Beach (LGB) and John Wayne (SNA). Shuttles cost about $35 from those airports.
"Shuttle to LAX" is a great resource for booking shuttles to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Shuttles are usually $20-25 from LAX.
Super Shuttle has special rates to the Disneyland Hotel. From the hotel, it’s about a 1 mile walk or a $5-10 cab ride to our house. Advanced reservations are preferred from the airport and are required for returns to the airport. 24 hour advance notice is preferred, cancellation policy terms and conditions can be found at the Super Shuttle website.
•LAX - Disneyland Airport Shuttle To/From LAX - $16 per person
•SNA - Disneyland Airport Shuttle To/From SNA – $10 per person
•LGB - Disneyland Airport Shuttle To/From LGB - $35 1st person, $9.00 additional, same reservation
Anaheim has a train station and a Greyhound stop.
Between our house and the train station, a Yellow Cab costs $13 (more if there’s traffic).
Between our house and the Greyhound stop, a Yellow Cab costs $8 (more in traffic).
Other Things to Note
Our home is our greatest project, and we are constantly working to improve it! Recent upgrades include beautiful hardwood floors throughout the house, brand new windows in every room, a new patio and a fire pit in the backyard. The house is safe and comfortable - we love living here, and we look forward to your visiting us!
This home is inhabited by two people, two friendly cats, and a small flock of chickens. We will consider visiting pets on a case by case basis.
Please note that reservations after July 1, 2015 are priced to include a mandatory 15% city tax.
Please keep the doors locked, and clean up after yourselves in the common spaces. No smoking. You may come and go whenever you like. Quiet hours are 10pm to 7am. Additional guests require permission from us.
Emily and Tyler were amazing hosts and made my first AirBnb experience simply awesome. I'm an introvert and fairly shy around new people, and they were happy to chat and answer any questions I had whenever I needed, and also left me with plenty of space the rest of the time.
The room was comfortable and cute, and as others have said the shelves are stocked with amazing books (I knew I was in the right place when I spotted multiple copies of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on the shelves!). The window has a great view of the chickens in the back yard, and you'll be able to hear them when they're out in the garden (don't worry- they aren't too loud at all). The cats, Max and Tonks, are super sweet, and both came to visit me many times during the week that I was there. When I wasn't feeling well on the last couple of nights of my trip, Tonks curled up on my arm and slept all night.
The house is in a perfect location for either an event at the Anaheim Convention Center or a trip to Disneyland. I did both, renting a bicycle from Tyler and Emily for the 2 mile (super easy) route on the days I was at the convention center and then walking (again, a very easy route) to Disney. Some days I did both since the convention center and Disney are so close to each other.
The neighborhood is adorable, quiet, and safe. I was out alone after dark a couple of nights and wasn't nervous about it, though you'll want to stick to the routes that Emily and Tyler recommend if you decide to do that.
One of the great things about staying here is the obvious attention to detail that Emily and Tyler have put into being hosts. Their "House Manual" details everything from the location of the nearest In 'n Out Burger to instructions for using the thermostat. They put a great variety of snacks in the room, and they also stock allergy medication in the bathroom just in case.
If I find myself in Anaheim again, I will not hesitate to book another stay with Emily and Tyler!
We arrived to Emily and Tyler both waiting for us. They let us in and showed us our room. They were very respectful of our space. If we had any issues, they were happy to help and very obliging. Small room but perfect for the few days we were there or a short stay. The bikes are a great idea as it is a tough walk in the heat to get from the house all the way to Disneyland. The animals were a lovely touch too!
Emily and Tyler were very welcoming hosts. My five your old city kid was ecstatic to see chickens running around the back yard and to meet the two cats. The room is small and good for two people. Any more people with luggage it would be too tight. The communication is amazing. All you need to know is in a nicely organized binder. Tyler suggested a great pizza place for dinner and Emily suggested an awesome place for breakfast near LAX airport the next day. The bathroom is well equipped with everything you will need. The neighborhood is very easy to get around. Thank you both for being so kind to my precocious 5 year old.
Emily and Tyler were incredible hosts. They welcomed us, showed us the room and talked a little before bed. They have taken the liberty of providing solutions to problems before they can occur, like leaving allergy medicine for travelers with cat allergies or snacks for those coming in hungry. We really enjoyed talking with them and liked the more natural feel of the home. It was more like visiting friends than renting.
The home itself is charming with lots of character and a spacious backyard. The room is smaller than we expected, but fit our needs just fine as it was just two of us. My favorite part of the room was all the fun books! I wished I had more time to flip through them.
The bathroom is well equipped and stocked with all your needs. Emily even had small handmade soaps in a dish which were adorable.
All in all, it was a great trip of exceptional value and Emily and Tyler really are super hosts!
Our trip was short and sweet, but we really enjoyed the convenience of staying walking distance to the park. The provided snacks saved us our first day, we were extremely grateful! I highly recommend this room for anyone staying near the park.
We LOVED staying here! Emily & Tyler, though we only met them briefly, were delightful and kind people who were incredibly hospitable and unobtrusive. My boyfriend and I arrived at their house pretty late in the evening and after they were asleep, but they left the porch light and hall light on for us to guide us to our room and a basket of snacks (which was a godsend because we were soooo hungry after our flight). They had a house manual with helpful information about the house, directions to nearby attractions, and restaurant recommendations, and their cats are so friendly and sweet! It was so nice to stay somewhere close enough to walk to Disneyland without having to pay an arm and a leg, and our accommodations with Tyler & Emily definitely exceeded my expectations. I would recommend anyone to stay here, and if we find ourselves on another trip to Disneyland in the future, we would definitely stay here again because it was great! Thanks again Tyler & Emily!
Tyler and Emily were fantastic hosts, easily the best I've experienced on air bnb. The room is very cute and they provide a kettle and snacks, everything you could possibly need to know is laid out for you as well as lovely little extras. Emily went out of her way to show us her animals and make our experience unforgettable. I wish I'd had more time in the house, definitely recommend!
Emily is an education consultant, and works with schools to develop interesting programs for their students, particularly in the Arts. Tyler is an audio engineer and musician.
We both have a background in theatre, and enjoy great food, music, and physical activities such as Crossfit and dancing. We love to travel, and are excited to get to know other travelers!
