  • Our stay at Ali's house in Kirkland was phenomenal! We stayed, along with our two adult children, over the Christmas holidays and it was a perfect home away from home. A great place to rest and relax surrounded by interesting artwork and overlooking Lake Washington with views of Seattle on the other shore. Well-equipped kitchen and a great dining table for family meals or games. Downtown Kirkland is a short walk away with great coffee shops and restaurants. Downtown Seattle is an easy drive. Ali was a wonderful host, laying in logs for the fire and making sure we would feel at home. We would love to visit again!

  • I stayed at Ali's house before and was thrilled it was open again. The house is beautiful, clean, in a good location for walking to dinner (when it's not below freezing). Ali is wonderfully organized about getting into the house and making sure anything I needed was covered. This place is highly recommended!

  • Ali's house is gorgeous, and Ali and her assistant got back to us promptly whenever we had a question about the house. The place is lovely inside and out, her rosebushes were blooming when we were there and they were delightful! Plenty of space to relax out in the backyard, or on the couches inside if it's raining.

The bus to Seattle is a short walk away, very convenient if that's where you're headed!

For bedrooms/bath, there's one queen bedroom downstairs with attached bathroom, with a waterfall shower that's delightful, upstairs there's another queen with attached bath, one full, two single beds in bunkbeds in the fourth bedroom, and one bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi tub that's not attached to a bedroom. It very comfortably slept the four of us, and would be just as cozy for three couples... and if you have kids I'm sure they'd love the bunkbeds!

We will definitely be looking to see if Ali's place is available next time we visit the Seattle area!

  • Ali's place is AWESOME. I really lucked out to have booked her place for a week while I was in the area on business. Having the 3 full size/queen beds was helpful, since I had to co-workers that came up last minute.

If I could give a 10 star rating for the decor and overall warm feeling the place exudes, I would. The artwork around the entire house is absolutely perfect. She'd definitely accumulated a lot of great work.

I'm definitely going to look into staying here again. Thanks for being so awesome, Ali!

I am a very quiet individual who travels a lot and can appreciate the hospitality and kindness of others you meet along the way. There is nothing more wonderful then settling into a comfortable place in a new or unfamiliar area. Feeling welcome and at home, but also with space to spread out and set up a workstation are important for me. I love where I live because it feels like the beach towns I grew up in, Huntington Beach and Santa Barbara. I love reading, have been a writer and teacher for many years and have been all over the world. I value travel, travel guides, travel memoirs, language and culture of others. There are dozens of movies to watch here: we love our BBC and Jane Austen collections, but also have James Bond, other period pieces and I love martial arts movies. I have two small dogs that are rescue dogs, a chi and a pom, but they are super cool little dudes. I am happy to help (if I am here; if not, my asst might be able to) make suggestions on things to do, how to efficiently see the city, restaurants, etc. I have lived here for over eighteen years but have also lived in SF, NY, LA, Houston, Chicago, etc so have context of other popular travel destinations. I am a yoga teacher and lead a yoga institute, training and providing mentorship to teachers. So if you need a yoga mat, there are dozens to choose from when you get here. When I travel, I try to be eco aware, not pack wastefully, and try to avoid many of the touristic types of things. I like to go, blend in with the culture and just exist like everyone else does. The public markets, the subways, the crusty smelly bookstores, in Paris, of course the boulangeries. I love the opera, plays, walking around parks, etc. It is clean and safe and hopefully you are looking for a nice eclectic place to stay and enjoy the Seattle and Kirkland area. Enjoy your stay.
