Interaction with Guests
I am an avid traveller myself and enjoy showing visitors my country. As I work in Port of Spain, I am happy to offer a ride into the city on my way to and from work, and of course share tips on the best foods to try and places to visit.
Addition: For larger groups, for example two couples or 4 friends, the whole apartment (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and common space) could be rented. Please email me for more details.
Garth was very welcoming and continued to be concerned about my security and comfort for the duration of my stay. I was visiting to do some (email hidden). Augustine, which is quite close to Garth's place. However, since Garth's apartment is indeed bright and breezy, I found myself doing more work at his place than in the UWI library with the freezing, amped up air conditioning. He's a very busy person, but he is willing to hang out and help you navigate the area if he can make it work with his schedule. And he's good company too!
Garth was an amazing host! Very hospitable and friendly guy. He'll definitely do his best to make sure you have a wonderful time during your stay. Thaannnkkksss Garth! :-)
Garth was amazing. He kept in constant contact with me and assured me everything would be in order.
The apartment is clean, comfortable and roomy. Its very convenient to UWI. We didn't meet Garth but he arranged for a friend to meet us and let us into the apartment. Our only complaint was with the roosters next door that crowed through most of the night.
We enjoyed staying at Garth's place. He is a very good host - he helps you around in the city whenever it's possible in his own car, and is very concerned about his guests feeling at home. He will help you to decide what's important to see, where to go out and what to be aware of in the city. The apartment is situated a bit outside Port of Spain, so you need either public transport - or a ride from Garth. The room has a double bed, a fan, internet and a separate bathroom. The apartment is close to different shopping possibilities.
I stayed with Garth for about 4 weeks as I was doing research at UWI. His apartment is very convenient to UWI (just a walk down the road), and is within easy walking distance to the St. Augustine Massy Store, fruit and veg stores, and the main road to catch a Maxi into POS. Garth also checked in regularly to see if I needed anything, and was always quick to clear anything up. As others have said, Garth is a great host: considerate and generous.
He often was out, which meant that I had the place to myself, which was great! But I'd echo what someone else said in that this place is no frills. The mosquitoes can also be a bother from time to time. In the end though, Garth's place was affordable, safe, and all-in-all a good deal. I can't really ask for more!
Garth was a great host and went above and beyond. He taxied me to and from airport, because I was too worried that the taxi services there wouldn't be available so late the night I arrived and so early when I left the following morning. I hope to visit Trini for a long weekend sometime soon and I will definitely look to Garth for a place or at least someone to lime with. Thank you so much for the generous hospitality.
About the Host, Garth
Having lived abroad and travelled to many countries, I have always valued the chance to have a local experience during my travels and am thankful for those that have helped me along the way. In return I enjoy doing the same for others when they visit my home country.
A Trini native, I am happy to share with you the in's and out's of my country from politics, carnival and cricket to local cuisine and night life.
