Private studio located in upcountry Maui, 10 minutes from north shore beaches, Kahului, and Paia town. Enjoy the cool breezes of upcountry living with it's own entrance, bathroom, and patio. The studio also has it's own kitchenette and also comes with wifi. We have space for surfboards and kite or windsurfing gear.
Some of the highlights of this space include the delightful outside patio (also private) where you can enjoy your meals. It borders 35 acres of pristine fields (lots of deer and birds), providing a peaceful and tranquil spot. We have a gas grill available that is perfect for an afternoon BBQ.
We recommend that you have a car although the Maui bus has a stop at the bottom of our street (two minute walk). Makawao town is a mile away and has some quaint shops and restaurants.

Our stay here was great! Total privacy, centrally located to most of the Island. Great town of Makawao, not too hot in the upcountry. Ben had plenty of provisions to make our stay comfortable. The room was just as described. Thanks Ben for the room.

The studio was clean, comfortable, and beautiful- perfect! It's location was amazing- in the super charming town of Makawao, just 15 minutes from Paia. Ben was a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed. So amazing!
My husnand Dan and I had a wonderful time staying here. We found it clean and quiet and the perfect refuge to rest in after a day visiting the grandkids in Lahaina. Very convenient to Makawoa and the drive down Baldwin to Paia is one of the prettiest roads on the island. Comfey bed, plenty of hot water, privacy and a passionfruit vine right outside the door. Who needs anything more?
if you're looking for a private and clean place to stay - away from all the hustle on the west- and southshore - this is the one you should book! it's perfectly located to explore the whole island by car. i stayed for more than a month and i had a fantastic time! i highly recommend this place!
Nice basic place in the Upcountry area. Internet didn't work for us. The small kitchen was nice. Powerful shower water pressure. There were quite a few bugs inside. They had nice travel info in room and a cooler, chairs, ect to use. Pillows were very uncomfortable. Good deal for the price though and better than a cheap hotel.
Ein schönes Mini-Appartment am Rande von Makawao. Perfekt gelegen, um alle Bereiche der Insel zu erkunden. Die Gastgeber waren freundlich und es hat alles geklappt.
Great location, great value, great hosts. We loved not staying in a touristy/hotel-y section like Lahaina or Wailea (though both were fun to visit), and Makawao was a great distance to many of the things we wanted to do -- bike the volcano, road to Hana, eating & shopping in Pa'ia. It's small but perfect for one-two people who spend most of their time out and about. Lots of bath and beach towels offered. Ability to do laundry, right out our door. Private.
We're home now from our 25th anniversary trip. sigh . . . Among our treasured memories is our stay at Ben and Crystal's lovely upcountry studio during early October. From the moment we arrived, we felt totally welcome -- like they had been looking forward to our arrival. We just LOVED the studio! It was clean and attractively furnished. It had everything we needed. The compact kitchenette was smartly arranged with valuable necessities (fridge, microwave, pots, pans, dishes, wine glasses, dish rack & towels and more); the tidy bathroom had a shower/tub, toiletries, hairdryer, etc. The bed was great and we each had table space and chairs to finish up some left over work. There was a nice bar-b-que available, which we ended up not using, due to visiting local friends and local restaurants. We had several delightful breakfasts on "our" little private garden bistro table, before heading out to the many places we explored.
Now comes the real joy in staying in this lovely studio: Ben and Crystal themselves! I can't express how delightful it was to interact with them. Though we are a generation apart, we had many mutual interests and philosophical approaches to life. Having just purchased a mini i-Pad (with little instruction), Ben enthusiastically guided us through several processes to aid our explorations. He also gave us information on things to see and do and helped arrange a snorkeling/snuba-ing trip to Molokini. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, both the lodgings and the wonderful hosts. They are awesome! (understatement). Mahalo many times over!!
Place is just as picture. Good central location. Lots of bugs and no AC (plus no screen on doors) left us trying to fall asleep hot until the weather cooled down. Other than that we had a perfect stay!
The studio is as advertised. The studio is not roomy, it's more a room with a tiny kitchen, a normal size bathroom and a large closet. But it worked perfectly for us! It is in a safe and quiet neighborhood and very close to stores and the Haleakala Highway. It is very centrally located on the island and a couple of degrees cooler because it is upcountry. My only advise to Ben is: put a screen door in. There were a lot of mosquitoes when we were there ( august) Other than that we had a great stay
