The large, bright Ohia room comes with a comfy queen size bed, large wall mounted tv, wifi access, recliner, closet space for your clothes and luggage. Has tasteful tropical décor and is very inviting. Private in room fridge. It shares a full size handicapped shower/bathroom.
Large bedroom for up to two guests. It has double closets for your belongings and luggage. Privacy keyed lock door. Hair dryer, 5X power mirror, emergency light in room. Access to iron board and iron per request. Cool, comfortable and quiet. Very tastefully decorated for a memorable vacation. High quality linens and towels provided. Price includes all taxes required by Hawaii State Law.
Shared Lounge/Breakfast bar, dining table, fully handicapped accessible full bathroom with shower. Shower bench/bedside commode available on request. Microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, refrigerator, dishes and utensils (email hidden). Large patio at front entrance. Patio is equipped with washer/dryer, cabinet with sink, 2 thermal burners, various cooking equipment. Pots/pans, dinnerware, utensils all included. Washer use has a $2.00 fee per load to wash and dry. Prepackaged detergent pod and softener sheet is included in fee.
The two entries have wheelchair accessible ramps into home. Patio has large table and chairs to relax, enjoy beverages, talk story!! Overlooks our garden (a work in progress) which has flora and fruit trees native to Hawaii. Beach towels, coolers etc. available at no charge.
Hosts Kevin and Bernie reside on opposite end of premises. Both were born and raised in Kona. Willing to answer inquires regarding island and available activities. Kevin is retired. Bernie is a registered nurse. We have a Shit Tzu named Prissy who is kept in owners quarters. Very mild mannered, loves belly rubs. Please call upon us with any needs. Rooms have lighted buzzers that ring in owners quarters to summon help.
Our neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. It is in an established subdivision, with many older homeowners. Everyone is friendly and police area for unusual activities.
We have bus service at the entrance to Cook Cook Rd. on Hwy 19 that is capable of island wide destinations if time is not a problem. Should you rent a car, free parking is available on property.
We are situated in the "coffee belt" of Kona, in Captain Cook, Hi at 1400 ft. elevation. Natural trade winds keep our area cool and comfortable. During the winter and spring extra blankets are provided if requested. Our average temperature is a cool 76-84 during the day and in the high 60's to low 70's at night. We are located near many points of interest. Keahou Bay (15 minute drive) is excellent for snorkeling, kayaking and swimming. Across the high way is a historical functioning coffee farm that offers tours to see how and what is involved in keeping a coffee farm thriving. There is Botanical Garden roughly 500ft. to the south of us where many indigenous plants prosper and various classes are offered. Nearby activities include hang gliding, zip lining, surfing, paddle boarding and swimming. We are in walking distance to a shopping center, post office, bakery, grocery store, hair stylist and several local restaurants. A 15-20 minute drive takes you to downtown Kona filled with a multitude of shops to collect your souvenirs. We are a 20 minute drive to one of 2 National Parks in Hawaii, Pu'uhonua o Honaunau which offers field trips and programs related to ancient Hawaii. It is referred to as City of Refuge as in olden times it was used to harbor ancient peoples and royalty from their enemies. The other national park is on the east side of the island (Hawaii Volcano National Park). Our island is very unique with rainforests, a desert, an active volcano on the east end of the island, two world known mountains of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, beautiful beaches and a multitude of farms filled with exquisite orchids, fresh vegetables, coffee fields, mc nut farms and many exotic plants. We have a farmers market within walking distance that opens every Sunday. There are also many other markets in a 10 mile radius. You are able to drive around the island in a day, visiting all the various regions and enjoying all that the Island of Hawaii has to offer. Imagine, traversing the often snowy mountains in the winter to swimming in our clean, blue pacific waters, watching the most spectacular sunsets and sunrises, embracing all of God's wonders during your trip here.
Common area that includes breakfast bar setup, micro, toaster oven, lg refrigerator, all dinnerware and flatware you may need. We also have a washer/dryer on our covered patio that you may choose to use during your visit. There is a $2.00 fee per load which includes prepackaged detergent pods and dryer sheet. Our fully covered patio is equipped with a sink and gives you access to 2 thermal hot plates, small appliances, dinnerware, cooking equipment. Free parking on premises. All towels and linens are provided in each room. You will also have access to beach gear and coolers at no charge.
Interaction with Guests
We are usually available to our guests and interact with them as much or as little as they prefer. We enjoy getting to know our guests and learn about their various cultures. We provide a simple continental style breakfast for the first two days of your visit when booked for four or more nights at no charge.
Quiet location, cool elevation, only a short distance to most attractions yet away of the hustle and bustle of town.
We do have a public bus that is capable of taking one around the island with many stops along the way. We recommend a rental car as your best option to go about your way without time constraints.
Other Things to Note
Price includes all taxes and fees as required for Hawaii Transient tax fees.
Reservations will be limited to number of guests on original reservation only. Extra person will be charged a fee of $45.00 per day IF APPROVED BY HOSTS. If not approved once reservation has been confirmed, no others will be permitted on premises. Authorities will be contacted and trespassing charges will be brought against intruder. Original booking guest may stay, however if a confirmed guest chooses to leave, fees will not be reimbursed for original booking. This is a security issue and will be firmly dealt with. This is a non smoking property. No recreational /illicit drugs or excessive alcohol use will be tolerated, you will be asked to leave, authorities will be called and no refund will be given for nights not used. Be respectful of other guests, owners, neighbors and property. Keep noises to a minimum. Quiet time after 10:00 p.m. through 7:00 a.m. No pets allowed. Keep shared areas as you wish to find them. Remove all trash daily and place in trash can near parking area. Please keep food items in closed containers, we strive for a pest free home. Please lock your room whenever you leave the premises, we will not be responsible for your belongings. Be energy conscious, turn off lights and appliances when leaving premises or going to bed at night. Please do not use laundry facilities after 9:00 p.m. as a courtesy to other guests. Keep your personal equipment/belongings in your room. If you have a computer please use it in your room or if other guests are out of the home on the patio table. Remember that all common areas must be kept in a manner as you would wish to find them; neat, clean and uncluttered.
