  • WARNING: This homestay can make you cancel all your other plans and you want to stay there forever! I am serious its just THAT good. Ok lets find some reasons: first of all the rooms are great and very clean, the ac works fine and smooth and the bed is a dream. Its really quiet except no street noises at all. The pool is just perfect for a good cooling after a hot day out. Lovina and signaraja are closeby 5km to Lovina and 8km to signaraja) so make sure to rent a motorbike (the price is really good). Alec got some cold drinks for a reasonable price. Second the tours are great (please say "hi" to Dodi and that i hate him :p) and Dodi is a perfect guide. He will take you on a great journey to some majestic waterfalls which you really shouldnt miss! If we would have gotten some more time i would have tried out his other trips too. Alec got a boat for some awesome sea trips too! The breakfast... Well its just plain crazy.. Its really a lot of food with fruits great coffee and eggs in all variations. We needed to half it after the first day or we would have blown up. Yanti is a great cook and her offer for a trip to the signaraja market with dinner at evening was a great experience. There are a lot of great warungs at the beach (please give markus a big greeting!) which is just a short way from alecs house. You got a little supermarket at the pet station just 7 minutes down the road. We got a motorbike and just tried out all streets around - there are some great views! Last but not least: alec and his family. They are just great. There are no words to describe it - Cintia is a cute little girl with a winning smile, Eko is a great skater and really awesome to talk too. Yanti is a warm and welcoming host and a perfect cook! And Alec... Hard to describe the englishman. We got some great chats which i will really miss, he introduced me into the life of an expat with awesome insights and we have met some great people with awesome stories. Overall: as i said dont go there or you will get addicted! WARNING END

  • Staying at Alec and his wife was a 100% home stay experience.
You will feel like visiting a good friend!
I had a great time at his place as well on a short excursion to Singaragja market and town.
The both are excellent hosts, with whom you can have great discussions till late night but who also give you room and time for excellent relaxation.
The breakfast was a great variety of fruits, a variety of egg dishes plenty of toast and marmalade.
I can only say that when I go back to Lovina I will hope that I can get a room again.

  • Alec & Yanti are the best hosts! Their home was very welcoming and relaxing, also compiled with divine breakfasts and fantastic dinners cooked by Yanti. My son and I felt like extended family!
Alec and Yanti ensured our short stay was comfortable and they offered and arranged the dolphin tour and any other activities we wanted to do. I highly recommend "Something different in village" in Lovina a place to stay whilst you explore this fantastic part of Bali.
THANK YOU Alex, Yanti, Eko & Chinta for sharing your wonderful house. Felicity & Denver xx

  • Me and my wife Alena with our son Krish stayed 5 nights at Alecs place. It was such a rememberable time we had with Alec and his wonderful family. Taman Sari is quite, beautiful, clean and with such a host like Alec it is fun. He knows Lovina very well and his knowledge about the local places helps everyone to make their daily trips at same time Lovina knows Alec as well. Everytime when we were at Lovina beach, we have enjoyed the privilage of being Alecs friend. I would also like to mention about their King Size Breakfast. Me and Alena often struggled to finish our Breakfast. Thank you Alec for being such a great host and friend. Hope you see you sometime...Greetings

  • Staying with Alec and his wife was the perfect start to our trip. Their hospitality and generosity (especially with their time - I don't think Alec got much sleep with all the adventures we went on in our 2 day stay). They went out of their way to ensure we had the best time - taking us to the market to buy local food, Alec's wife teaching me how to cook, finding a traditional Balinese ceremony to attend (and letting us borrow the proper ensemble to wear to the ceremony), setting up a sunrise dolphin cruise on his boat with Domingo who is so nice and down-to-earth - take a trip to his bar if you have the time (and please tell Domingo hello for us!) - letting us borrow his moped to cruise around town and hike in the waterfalls... Honestly, we felt like part of their family and it was really enjoyable getting to know them. The villa was sparkling clean when we arrived, we were served a fantastic and filling breakfast (and lots of kopi) every morning and were always greeted with a cheerful smile. I highly, highly recommend staying here - airbnb doesn't get better than this. Thank you both and we hope to come back soon!

  • Staying at Taman Sari was amazing. The house is beautiful and the hosts are more helpful, accommodating and welcoming than we could have wished for, and their children are very nice. During our 3 nights, we went dolphin watching on Alec's boat, saw a Balinese ceremony with his neighbors, went snorkeling and just had a good relaxed time. We would highly recommend Taman Sari for families and couples looking for a relaxing stay in the charming north Bali.

Estate Agency for 25 years in South of England
First arrived in Bali about 17 years ago after a messy divorce and redundency... Went a bit crazy for a while and did lots of silly things which looking back not so proud of> Built a bamboo and coconut roofed house which I lived in and was known as the crazy Englishman or Mr Bean. Met a beautiful Indonesian lady, Yanti whom I married and with who have two wonderful children Eko 12 and Cinta 7. All lived in UK for 8 years, Cinta being born there. Decided England had nothing to offer so came back to Bali 2 years ago and finished building Taman Sari. Now comprises 6 bedrooms ( 3 for letting) 5 bathrooms couple of kitchens, Lounge, dining room, swimming pool with bar/ dining area beside. Have 2 great kids, now grown up in UK and 2 grand children. Love the sea and have 2 traditional outrigger boats which i love to take out alone and sometimes get away! Only let my rooms with Airbnb who have done me proud. Still like to get silly sometimes but not on a regular basis anymore.
